Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime

edited December 2010 in General Chat
Hopefully there's not already a topic about this, though I didn't seem to find one when using the search engine.

http://kotaku.com/5704523/the-next-ghostbusters-game-is-a-throwback - But this is interesting, particularly since from the looks of it, none of the main cast will be involved like they were with the past game.

Also, the top down shooting deal is also a bit interesting choice for that type of game as the previous game was a 3rd person shooter.

Edit: Whoops, and it's Sanctum of Slime. *face palm* I don't know why I always think its Sanction of Slime.

Switching from TPS to a top down shooter isn't an interesting change, especially if you considered how much the last one tanked (sales wise) and how this is a low budget game. But as I love top down shooters I'll pick it up.

I don't get how the last one tanked, particularly since it was good, especially compared to....that NES game that I refuse to speak of.

Guess they're just not going to do voice overs for this one, being low budget compared to the other one.

The first one was one of the best Wii games I've ever played.

I do need to finish that, I got as far as the "Rise and Fall of Staypuft" and quit for whatever reason.

And yes, I like it on the Wii as well, the Wiimote was a nice choice to use for aiming the proton pack.

It greatly underpreformed, especially for getting the rights to fully recreate some of NY's key locations and for the voice actors. I've heard good and bad. HOwever sales weren't enough to make a profit.

Well, all that matters to me is that it was good, and like I mentioned, it wasn't as bad as....that other Ghostbusters game.

you say that as if there was just one. There were like 5 before the newest one that came out too.

Yeah, that one, the NES one, and all the others like it, though it was based off a Commodore 64 game, but they've all been nothing short of terrible.

Kinda wished it was more like the previous one. I like the Gears-Of-War style gameplay. It really feels like I'm a real Ghostbuster.

The Gears of War lite like I remember reading, but they're probably doing this to keep the size down, it is an XLBA game after all, but I don't know, I'm not making the game so I could be wrong, but yeah, not sure why they went top down either to tell you the truth.

looks pretty much like another clone of those 10 zombie games that are all alike... I do not like those games but I know people do and GB are awesome so I am happy for those who this seems like a match made in ghostly heaven.

This is awkward telling this to a mod- but there's already a thread. http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20868 So maybe you should merge them.

Well, to be honest, I'm not really to thrilled with the change from third person to a top down deal, but as I said when the 2009 game came out, it can't be any worse then...

Seeing as the lighter Wii take was better than the main version, I don't mind this change at all.

While Ghostbusters: The Video Game certainly had its flaws, it had everything you'd want from the third instalment in the series. It baffles me that it performed so badly sales-wise.

This new one doesn't look too hot at the moment.

'Tis a shame. It was very solid, and most importantly, funny. Bringing Stay-Puft back is the only thing I didn't like, as it felt like very lazy fan service. (although I did enjoy battling him, so it's a non-issue)

Besides, they got Bill Murray, which is no mean feat.

Funny, I thought the Stay-Puft battle was nothing short of awesome, and yeah, that kinda depresses me a bit that it didn't do sales wise, but I still think the game was great.

I agree... I liked the game a lot. Difficulty was just right (well, the only thing that REALLY sucked was the 1 minute loading screen with the Ghostbusters theme after dying... and since I died a lot in that game, the theme really drove me nuts after a while). Still, the story (written by Ramis and Aykroyd) felt extremely true to the movies, as did the atmosphere and the humor. The game really made it feel like you were part of the team. BTW, even the German version got the appropriate voice actors for the main cast, something which really sparked the nostalgia big time for me.

Well, unless you turned the difficulty level up to the highest level, then it got hard.

I think I played on medium, and for me it was the right spot between fun and challenging.

When are we getting a sequel to the game that came for the Wii, PS3, And 360?

I'd argue it got too hard. The level where you're escorting the Ecto-1 down the street was where I could not progress until I turned the difficulty down. The ghosts that throw stuff at you and dive are what made that mission crazy hard.

If you mean an over the shoulder one with Aykroyd and co. again, probably never.

The hardest difficulty setting for me was a pain in the ass, but what was really making me want to tear my hair out, those ****ing stone angels, those things were EVIL!
