What do you do when there is nothing good on television

edited January 2011 in General Chat
I do have a good reason for this that won't be revealed until friday. So until then lets just say I'm wondering

It turns out that the TV was actually a guy?

    Wait, wrong thread.

I almost never watch TV anymore. Hell, I can't even remember the last time I used the TV for video games, which isn't to say I'm not playing games, just that I can't remember the last time I played anything on my Wii.

There's never anything good on TV. Whenever it's on I go into the other room and read a book. Or get on my computer.

If I was actually aiming to watch a bit of TV, but there is nothing on, then I'll usually grab my book (which sits on the coffee table just in front of me) and go through that.

I rarely watch TV nowadays though. I sort of skip over the middle man and just go straight for the book most times now.

Hah, I just went over my actual point for this and I realised how bad an idea it was to actually put this on THIS community.

    One of the following:

    - Play Videogames
    - Surf Web
    - Play with Guitar

Where's the option for 'plot global domination' or 'Torture small baby animals by playing loud polka music'
  • edited January 2011
Ok now I want to know why you asked this.
I hope on friday its a good reason.

    What's a television?
  • edited January 2011
Internet, exercise, vidya games or just keeping the house from falling apart

I don't watch TV for, like, five years at the least.
  • edited January 2011
I probably do the last one more than I’d care to admit.

Most things. I don't spend much time watching television. When I do, it's not even television proper, but television content delivered through Hulu or Netflix.

Tv? What Tv? I currently have a tv, yes, but it's almost never on. Probably due to the fact that I have no cable, what with living on campus and all, as well as that I literally sit by the computer doing school work and there by have no time, and when I do find time, it just ends up me sleeping off those oh so very odd hours of sleep (yay 3 hours of sleep a night!) so back to the question: Tv? What Tv?

I'm always supposed to work on my novel. Even at this moment I should not have been behind my PC at all, since it's freaking 2 AM, why am I still up?
  • edited January 2011
I'd like to say I read a book but I only really do that when I'm in bed these days. Instead I just play some video games.

I very rarely watch TV, so I don't often find myself in this situation. I'd much rather spend my free time on my computer than waste it in front of the television.

When I get home from work I always watch a bit of TV, either How I Met Your Mother or what ever else there is on the TV.
But when that gets boring I always go upstairs and turn on my computer, at least there there is always something to do. :)

    I... don't got a TV...

Why does TTG wants to mimic TV when TV isn't great anymore? Just thinking...

Oh and i rarely watch TV, maybe twice or thrice in a month, mainly to watch some football then. If i would have enough time i would have tons of things to do. People who enjoy watching TV will most probably never see this thread. :O)

I don't actually watch tv anymore. I got tired of them showing repeats when it was supposed to be new episodes, or taking shows off for a couple of weeks and generally messing around. We've put all our media on to a storage device and networked it to all the tv's/computers in the house. I got seasons of all the shows I wanted to catch up on. When I want to watch an episode of something I just watch it. The new seasons of shows on in America and UK I watch online, Dad uses a tv tuner recorder thingy in his computer for anything on here. I don't think I could go back to having to sit down at a certain time to watch something. For the poll I put read a book, but I also surf the net and play games...

I honestly don't read books in the setting that I'd have that opportunity to watch TV. Reading for me isn't something I really sit and do, it's something I do in-between places. I thoroughly enjoy reading, it's not that it's "slightly less boring than sitting on a bus", but for some reason I've always read in bursts between classes, on public transit, and in other situations where portable entertainment is ideal.

    People watch TV?

On the serious side, I do flip through the channels until I actually find something/get bored. But then I'm just prone to wandering off and going on the internet. :/

    (Also, I'm 19.)

    I don't have a TV. So there you go. I'm 18.
  • edited January 2011
I chose the option 'Turn it off and read a book', and I am 20.
  • edited January 2011
    I don't even watch TV.
  • edited January 2011
Does watching a handful of shows via Netflix and Hulu count? If not, I haven't watched TV in a long time. Mine is basically a game and DVD display.
  • edited January 2011
I stick with movies or games for entertainment. There isn't much on TV these days.

Oh, age too? 20. There, I said it.
  • edited January 2011
    I game, and I'm 23.

I'd also like to point out, that this may be the anonymous internet, but this is far from a random sample. Telltale's forums are primarily the 16-30 set, who already have an interest in gaming. Keep that in mind!

I wanted to post something relevant in this thread all day but couldn't think of a real answer...I watch a movie, or I put on youtube videos, I get on the computer...I don't really game that much anymore.

I don't think polls can be edited. You'd probably be best off starting a new thread with a new poll. Probably something with a ton of duplicate options, like "Play Video Games (Age 15-20)", "Play Video Games (Age 20-25)" or whatever it is you need.

Actually, I do this the other way around. When I look at my bookshelf and can't find anything that I really want to read, then I go watch TV.
