Lego Pirates of the Caribbean
Travelers Tales the game company known for their Lego action/adventure games and for sometimes getting accused of also being Telltale Games (or is it the other way around?) are making a PotC game... Awesome.

I think it's more likely for people to think Telltale is Traveller's Tales than the other way around. I do remember a news article once that accidentally referred to Traveller's Tales as Telltale.
It's easy to know the difference, though! Just remember which one had a licensing deal with LucasArts.
Saw the teaser trailer yesterday. If they can get that walk into the actual Lego Captain Jack, this game may work. Also, who wants to bet Lego Orlando Bloom is more emotive than REAL Orlando Bloom?
EDIT: Kotaku also had the story, along with some screenshots.
But the problem is they haven't been good since Indiana Jones.
I understand it when they don't make their environments fully LEGO, that's alright, but... non-Lego ships? Aw man.... I mean... LEGO ships are some of the most awesome things ever and they're NOT going to model them?!
As for the "Other TTg"'s games, I found them of very varying quality: I really enjoyed Star Wars II and Batman, but underwhelmed by the first Indiana Jones.
As for real LEGO PotC sets, however, here's something to drool off!

Queen Anne's Revenge is sheer beauty!
Well, the ships in the trailer are made of LEGO.
As for the screenshots, I assume it's probably a way to have interactable/detructable LEGO-made elements to stand out from the environment, for clarity and playability.
I of course agree, anyhow, that to play on board completely LEGO-made ships would be a lot way cooler!!
Eh eh eh No, the Other TTg are Traveller's Tales games, developer of LEGO games.
4181 Isla De La Muerta - sucks...
4182 The Cannibal Escape - The cage and the throne actually look pretty cool, although I do miss the days when LEGO sets (well, piratey ones anyway) had actual LANDSCAPES.
4183 The Mill - Nice little set. I like it.
4184 Black Pearl - NO PICTURE! GAAAH! But, knowing LEGO ships, I'd probably buy it
4195 Queen Anne's Revenge - Not only it looks cool... It's a LEGO ship. What do you want? I'm biased! I love ALL LEGO ships, big and small
4191 The Captain’s Cabin - Uhm... meh.
4192 Fountain of Youth - They REALLY don't like putting landscapes these days, don't they?
4193 The London Escape - Seems okay. I like that the wall in the house is moving, giving more space when needed (I remember in the old days playing with the insides of a building could be restricting due to small spaces and non-movable walls).
4194 Whitecap Bay - I like this set. Although it reminds me a lot of the Western bandits' hideout, with the barrel and the construction of the mine-eh-I mean fort. But... No water panel?! COME ON!!!
Overall it looks pretty cool.
EDIT: Btw, have you noticed that some minifigs have actual real scabbards? It's about time!
This'll be the 7th fully original Lego [Insert Franchise Here]. Hopefully it, and Lego Star Wars III: Lego Star Wars with a Vengeance (which'll be the 8th!), can change enough to maintain my interest. I really hope so, I enjoyed the first Pirates film.
Well, they do say that PotC will have some kind of a revamped swordfighting system (which will also supposedly will also make one on one battles more challenging and interesting), and one normal close combat system is actually enough to make a BIG difference in gameplay in comparison to other LEGO games.
How appropriate, you fight like a cow!
Wait, not that kind of swordfighting? Aw shucks.
(he later corrected himself to confirm that he meant "imagination")
Shame LucasArts isn't tied to the Lego action games franchise, this would be the right game for a Guybrush cameo.
Me, I might rent it sometime, but I've never really been able to stand any of the Lego games outside of the Star Wars universe. There's something specific to Star Wars that makes this style work: I assume it's the fact that the Star Wars universe is filled with machines and whatnot that look right when made from Legos, whereas things like Indiana Jones and Harry Potter are filled with more natural locations where the Lego stuff looks more out of place to me. There's also a personal nostalgia for me, since I was making Star Wars scenes out of Lego parts well before they started selling official sets.
Still, I suppose Lego Pirates is a theme that has been part of the official Lego line for decades too, so there's a certain level of authenticity here that might make it work.
Yep, absolutely!
About time, indeed: Playmobil had scabbards, with practically the same design, in the 80s!
It's one of the very few times I have to take difference with Ronzo: play your story in the world of a movie that stroke your imagination, modifying and merging and inventing stories etc., is exactly developing imagination, and LEGO is perfect for it.
AND I would LOVE LEGO Monkey Island!
Yeah me too... if they made Lego MI I would buy every set available no matter what it cost.
Most of this stuff is from the early to mid 90s, and I owned about 70% of it, and it was all AWESOME. When's the last time you saw LEGO selling wearable alien helmets? NEVER. That's when. Because current LEGO is as crappy and disappointing as they come.
And I *mean* the Disneyland version. Not that shortened Magic Kingdom crap.
You can't fault a company for making licensed sets if it also allows them to grow AND to continue making original lines.
No-one's forced to buy sets they don't want, so I fail to see any problem at all with their current themes and marketing strategy.
The Disneyland version is nearly twice as long, with more drops, breathtaking treasure rooms, and a gunfight in an explosives warehouse. Yeah, you heard me.
This site has a pretty detailed tour/history of the ride, in its pre-Johnny Deppified days.
And yes, I'm a theme park geek.
Well said
If anyone is interested in playing online with me (when they get the network back up of course) my PSN is dumpling321 (of course) ^_^
(For xbox360.)
Also, we may need to add a low bandwidth warning to the thread title now!
I own the large pirate ship and the fort in this picture, but these days, I'm missing a piece of the mast for the Black Seas Barracuda, and I haven't tried putting the fort back together in forever.
GRRRRRR!! I hate PS3's timing... they WOULD choose now to get hacked >.<
