Telltale UK meetup?

edited April 2011 in General Chat
The idea struck me:
How about a telltale games UK meetup? Various members of the forum meet up some place and go about a day with silly antics and jolly japes etc etc!

If we could get the names of people willing to do it, we could find a convenient half way point for all attendees so no excessive travelling is required! (unless you like that kind of thing)

Possible Activities
Alton Towers
Get Blindingly Drunk
Go Karting
Bowling
Meet up in the middle of the Irish Sea
Road trip to America to witness the greatness of TomPravetz

(Maybe) Attendance List
GeorgeC
Friar
JedExodus
Jeeno0142
Darth Marsden
Monkey Movies

You know, thats not actually a bad idea...

But I live in some sort of noplace (rural wiltshire) so i'll undoubtedly have to travel pretty far to go wherever the meet is.

Put me down as a "maybe"
  • edited February 2011
Yeah i'd be game for it. Can't guarantee anything yet obv, but I like the idea certainly :)

But... Ireland isn't part of the UK! :p
Just kidding. I'm sure you'd be welcome. Unless the halfway point ends up in the middle of the sea... :p

I'm interested, but I'm very shy and may not come because of it. You had better put me down as a maybe as well.

I don't think I've been active here long enough to have enough courage to do something like this.
    (Plus I'm lazy!...)

That sir, is a whole can of worms right there.

But i'd agree with you ;)

Ah go on! It'd be mighty craic!!

It's an idea worth looking into. For me it just depends on where the meet would be and what the travel costs are.
  • edited February 2011
Consider me 'curious'. More details before committing to anything, but yeah, I'm interested.

I'd say we all get violently drunk, but that's not really fair on the young 'uns and those who don't imbine the poison.

We could go to Alton Towers or something! :p

Ooh, yeah. Or visit the doctor who experience in london... Just me?

I'm REALLY shy myself and I'm the one organizing it! Once you get going and meet the new faces you'll more than likely get on like a house on fire and all will be good :D

I've not been active very long my self, it's no excuse - but being lazy is a fair excuse haha.

It's a good idea, and surely the majority of people up for doing this would be at least 18? But to keep things sensible the alton towers idea is a possibility :P

To all the maybes, watch this space as I'm sure lots of great ideas will evolve

    Hmm...consider me a "maybe".

And I like the Alton Towers idea.
    :D

    Sure. But why not America?

Am stupidly shy but it'd be cool to see if Friar looks anything like how I imagine.

Nope! Not just you at all.

Alton Towers sounds like a nice idea. Consider this another vote for it.

I'd do it if I wasn't so damn poor! Plus my University interviews and such. I dunno, it's wait and see right now, dates and such.

Ideally it would take place during the summer, and isn't going to be longer than a day I'm guessing, surely you'd have a day free? Fair point about the money though, here is a handy chart with all the prices

I may be interested, but it depends when/where it is. Alton Towers sounds awesome though.

Hmmm... maaaaybe. I'll see, also getting their to, although I think they're coaches that go there and back. I'll see how much money I've got closer to the date.

I'm shy as well, so I'm sure it'll be alright. Plus, you could always take a friend along. That's what I might do if we all decide to meet up. Partly to cover petrol costs, and partly because deep down, I hate you all! :p

I've got a car if anyone happens to live near Coventry to save on coach tickets!

I still vote for hosting in America. Disney World, perhaps?

Because that'd ruin the whole "UK Meetup"ness of it all, you rascal!

Ok, this might be interesting. I will definitely need a date before I can commit to anything, since I'd be reliant on public transport and that's gonna be a nightmare.

Shall we say sometime in the summer if we do decide to do it?

For sure, Alton towers is no fun in the winter :P

For a starter date, lets say July time, and see if everyones cool with it?
  • edited February 2011
I'd go along too... if it wasn't for me being so very lazy... and not very good around new people (damn you Aspergers)... did I mention lazy?

Thats's two people saying they are too lazy now as an excuse :( I'm really lazy myself, I drive to the store and its a 2 minute walk away as an example!

And I've no idea about aspergers syndrome, but most people are nervous around new people, once you get talking it's all fun and games
  • edited February 2011
I don't really know but I guess could go if it isn't way too far away...
  • edited February 2011
Look, I'm shy in real life as well, but if I'm up for this, then I'm making you all come along too!

July sounds good. Again, I'd need something more specific to know when to get a few days off work, but yeah.
  • edited February 2011
Oooh, this sounds like a good idea - but like others, I think I'd need to know where and when before I commit :P
  • edited February 2011
Yeah that would make sense and I'd need to know too since I've got a course in college I go to (I have three days a week off but still).

I'd come, but I hate Alton Towers. Maybe one of these places would be better? And more in the spirit of Telltale. Well, Sam and Max Hit The Road. Which was LucasArts. But still.

I vote Avebury! It's like, 5 minutes down the road from me!

If alton towers isn't to everyones tastes, how about a tamer theme park, like Chessington, or a smaller park like Thorpe Park? They'll probably be closer to more people (They're nearish London, I think)

Fuck it, we'll all go camping
