My user name started life as "SuperPants: The Albino Wookiee From Across The Stars!" on Star Wars Galaxies. See, that was Rather Dashing's character. Mine was Eshra Veshdu or something stupid like that. Anyway, after being Andrew Ryan for a bit, I wanted some kind of stupid name to use and went with a Communist SuperPants. THE END

I don't actually remember how I came up with my user name. I think it was a combination of three things, one possibly my name maybe, and I've just stuck with it ever since.

    This.

And where did Pale Man originate from?

Well... My first name is Thomas and my last name is Pravetz... ThomasPravetz is too long and formal, so I shortened it. TomPravetz

Actually, no, you lengthened it to TomPravetz from TPravetz. Hah, I win!

At the time I first heard about Telltale Games, the two games I was most excited about were SBCG4AP and Tales of Monkey Island.

So, I took the "strong" from Strong Bad, and the "brush" part from Guybrush, and added a "1" for good measure.

It was at that point that I stopped using a nickname a first grade teacher gave me.

... Pathetic? I jest... I was "Forgetful Jones" for the entirety of elementary school. I know what it's like when teachers do that.

I have this coin bank. The friend who bought it for me suggested 'skullbank' should be my online moniker, and I've used it ever since. Apparently I'm collectible.

I'm guessing that your brother gave you that nickname because of Gino Ginelli, a brand of ice-cream from the 80s-90s. Because that is what your DeviantART name makes me think of every time I read your sig. Does this ring any bells?

I don't recognise the advert myself, but I think you're right! He has told me on a number of occasions that it was an advert, but because I've been spelling it my own way with a J and all that (on the basis that my name is Jennifer and Gino Ginelli sounds like it should begin with a 'J') I've never been able to find the advert he meant so I thought he was making it up! Thanks for clearing up that 20 year old mystery. :D

It's because he's so pale he makes snow look tan!
    He's got the savage pale!
If you bleached chalk, it wouldn't be as pale as him!

Jim Gaffigan had a little cartoon bit on Late Night with Conan O'Brien for a while called "Pale Force" where he played "Pale Man" and Conan was his sidekick that always wet himself when he was scared. So I shamelessly stole the name from that.

I made the connection to Palido much later, though he was my avatar for a while. :p

Mine is sort of a clean version that evolved from a perverted nickname... Its been around for many years.... I found out later that "Irish Mile" was an actual thing.... so I kept it.

I found this website by accident whilst feeling all nostalgic for my fav adventure game( The secret of Monkey Island series)
I couldn't believe it when I saw there was to be a new upcoming release of Tomi.
I joined this website so that I could pre order tomi and assumed that everyone would be known as various versions of guybrush,le chuck and elaine.
I thought about my first impressions of the game and remembered going through the forest to pick a "flower of the forest! to add to the meat in the chefs soup ( in the kitchen) which I gave to the barking dog at the entrance to the governors manor.
My first puzzle solved and forever hooked!:D

The short version I usually tell people is: Chiron is the centaur from greek mythology who trained Hercules, Achilles, and Jason, among others (which I deliberately spelled with a 'y') ...the Disney movie is inaccurate, as usual; also, I couldn't just use Chyron so I picked a number and 8472 is a Star Trek reference so I use that.

The long version is: A friend and I used to like the movie The Lawnmower Man way back when because of the simpleton-becomes-a-genius-and-gains-ESP-and-telekinesis aspect of the movie. Lawnmower Man 2:Jobe's War is a bad sequel, but in the story they talk about how Jobe was trying to obtain the Chiron Chip (I thought it was spelled 'Chyron') which would allow Jobe access to any computer network, and since people in this movie use a hi-tech form of VR, Jobe can ultimately use the chip to dominate them and take over the world. ...and I thought the name 'Chyron' sounded cool at the time.

and again, 8472 is a Star Trek reference.

If you've played Sam & Max Season 1, and hung out in the configuration area, you know where this one came from....

Yep! That option did nothing, and yet I read posts saying "It really does make you walk faster"

Saying Majus takes less time than saying Marius.
Saves a lot of time at the end.

    For example:
"Gotta catch the bus! Bye Marius!" -> Misses the bus by a splitsecond.
"Gotta catch the bus! Bye Majus!" -> Catches the bus just in time.
I thought you noticed the similarity of your name with the Arabic Majus (مجوس) - Which is Mogh (مغ) in Persian and was used for referring to Iranian Zoroastrian monks - and thought it would be cool to use it ...

Well, I use adventureaddict for TT only, and that's pretty self-explainable.
Other places I use Phoenix, as my brother used to call me Josephoenix growing up(A play on Josephine, and he did a project at school on the city of Phoenix.)
And sometimes Shimbo, which is alot more complicated to explain.

    Veronica-n-Play.

Just something I thought up, and my brother thought it was cool because of the word play.

I did go by VerWolfnica once, but that just sounded retarded in the end, even to me.

I always take time to choose a username, for this one I was super-lazy. My mind went blank and nothing came up, after a few minutes I just thought: "Ok...I'll have to put something! Oh, right!...something! BRILLIANT!" ...aaand that's my username, 'something' in a european language.

    Of course, it wasn't brilliant.

I was like 15 and the internet was still primarily a dangerous, mysterious, dial-up thing... i wanted to make a gamefaqs username, but my mom (who was somewhat neurotic) wanted me to be safe and have a username that couldn't give any info away about myself... i asked her what I should use and she said something like "awww your so sweet, something like dumpling" or something along those lines... I really couldn't think of anything better so my ign came into being ^_^

really it's somewhat embarassing in real life when i tell people my username because people think of the pet name dumpling, however; it works great for video-game forums and online stuff because the gamer crowd is generally full of japanaphiles and more likely to get that it's a food-based name.

my alternate ign's are generally Watanuki (because I LOVE xxxholic) and eatsdumpling (kinda an inside joke based on the fact that I've literally had dozens of people comment that they're going to eat me)

My nickname is Woodsy and I'm obsessed with the colour blue, bit boring really. In some places I've started going by the moniker Commodore Woodsington, just because I think it sounds awesome :D

I got my name from quickly thinking up a unique nickname. I didn't really care what it was. Giant Topiary was the result. I felt pretty pleased at the unique nickname I managed to come up with.

And then i played Sam and Max ep 201. Oh god what, how did that happen.
