Games You Haven't Started

edited April 2011 in General Chat
So I've been thinking about this lately anyway, and a discussion in the rating thread made me think this might be an interesting thread, so here's a thread to name all the games that you own but haven't gotten around to playing at all yet. Here's my own list.

Super Metroid
Super Ghouls n' Ghosts
Resident Evil (GameCube)
Wii Fit Plus
Sonic Advance
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
Half-Life 2: Episode Two
Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 5: 8-Bit is Enough
Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures
Neverwinter Nights
Metroid: Other M
Epic Mickey
Bone
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness
Final Fantasy (PSP)
Final Fantasy II (PSP)
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Psychonauts

And until a couple days ago, The Beatles: Rock Band would've been on this list.

My list is too long....far too long >.>

I hope you get to play Psychonauts soon though. Even though I played and finished it I rebought it off Steam and slowly going through it again. Creativity understates the game.

Same as, I've got games ranging from titles I purchased during the early 90s through to games I bought a couple of months back. Dozens and dozens of games just gathering dust.

    Here's my own list.

    Resident Evil (GameCube)
    Half-Life 2: Episode Two
    Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures
    Bone
    Psychonauts

I've left in the ones that I've played and you're in for a treat. Especially regarding:

Resident Evil (Remake) which is a little hard to get into at first (and I mean literally hard, as in difficult) but when you do it is nothing short of outstanding and gorgeous to boot (to this very day). A remake that's genuinely superior to the original (which is an absolute classic already and one of my favorite games of all time).

HL2:E2 is excellent but as you've already played HL2 and Episode 1 you'll already know that it will be (it also continues to tie in with Portal which is cool).

Psychonauts may not have the greatest gameplay (not that it's bad) but the writing, characters and charm posses the usual Tim Schafer genius. However, be warned that it can be a bit overwhelming at first as there are so many collectables that serve different purposes and it can initially be confusing.
And until a couple days ago, The Beatles: Rock Band would've been on this list.

I really enjoy that one but it's a crime that using the whammy bar has no effect on the pitch, as it does with other games in the series (it's for stupid legal reasons I believe). Also, if you want some of the greatest Beatles tracks (such as Norwegian Wood, A Day In The Life, When I'm Sixty-Four and In My Life) then you have to pay for DLC which is really cheeky.

I've at least started, if not beaten my library of games for the most part; save two ROMs: Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising and Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand. both were games I intended to pick up yonks ago and can't find, hence their ROM form, but I just...haven't gotten around to them. Ditto for BTTF episode 2 actually, been playing MI games instead.

    *ahum* you pirate =P

I would've played the Boktai series too if it weren't for the fact that part 3 never got released here and 4 was drastically changed in the western to make it look as a new franchise.

How does a ROM of Boktai work without the solar sensor?

is none an option? I always start a game as soon as I get it, but 40% of the time or so I end up stopping before being done.

You actually just reminded me that I've got Episode 1 and 2 of BTTF sat on my desktop unplayed (well except a 10 minute play of episode 1 when it came out just to see what it's like). For the first time in my history of Telltale games I'm waiting till all 5 episodes are out so that I can enjoy it as one long experience. Is anyone else doing this or has done it with a previous TellTale game?

I'm curious to see if it will feel like playing a proper full length adventure or if it will still seem disjointed and episodic (aside from having to go back to the desktop after each episode obviously).

Not actually sure. It probably won't work, but after searching for the game for about four years before caving and downloading a ROM, I figure it can't hurt to give it a try, right?

More importantly, how does a copy of Boktai work with the solar sensor in Britain?!
  • edited February 2011
The Ball, the Bone games, and DeathSpank T.O.V.

Patch, IIRC R+right/left increased/decreased sunlight. Makes piledriver sequences way too easy >.>

Anyways, just unfinished games or just games that we have but never even touched?

This sounds like a perfect example of when emulation just isn't able to replicate playing the original on the intended hardware. A bit like playing Donkey Konga without the drums. Can anyone else think of some more examples?

Games you've never even touched. I guess you can say unfinished games too, but I think most of us would have lists way too long for that, me included.
  • edited February 2011
    Operation Winter Sun
    Rhiannon
    Sherlock Holmes The Awakened
    Sherlock Holmes Jack The Ripper
Ceville - Installed but not played
    Simon Sorceror 4
    Perry Rhodan
    Secret Files 1
    Judgement Rites
    Journey to the Moon

And that's just off the shelf next to me... There are plenty more around, and so many started but not finished.

After getting halfway into Sam and Max Season One, I decided to instead just start playing the entire seasons all at once.

The List of Games I haven't started is about as long as the books I haven't started.
But the longest list is the list of games I haven't finished.

I had this rule once where I would only buy a new game if I finished the ones I already had. yeah, that didn't last long. lol

Why the hell not. I present the list of games I've started and haven't finished.

    Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest
    Mega Man X: Command Mission
    Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness
    Shadow the Hedgehog
    Vectorman
    Ristar
    Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
    Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
    Sonic and the Secret Rings
Pokémon Ruby (But I've beaten Sapphire and Emerald)
Pokémon FireRed (But I've beaten LeafGreen)
Pokémon Pearl (But I've beaten Diamond and Platinum)
Super Mario Advance 2 (I think?)
Brain Age 2 (Which, like the first game, I will consider finished when I run out of sudoku puzzles)
    Final Fantasy III
    Sonic Rush Adventure
    Super Mario 64 DS
    Yoshi's Island DS
    Rock Band 3
    The Beatles: Rock Band
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (Which is beaten but won't be finished until I get the secret ending)

I also have a list of games that I haven't beaten but have disqualified based on various criteria and a list of games that I've beaten but have yet to 100%.

If I was to list all the games I should've started, I would've worn out the letters in every alphabet in the world so that writing would become a lost knowledge for the human race.

The universe does not want me to play Final Fantasy. Every time I try to play an entry in that series, SOMETHING HORRIBLE HAPPENS.

Don't worry, that's just the intro.

Funnily enough, I had the same thing happen to me when I tried to play FFXIII. I put the disc in the drive and booted it up and then the game started. Truly horrifying.

EDIT: Stareye, the intro goes on for 25 hours.

Yeah...I technically own Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Call of Duty 2: Big Red One for GameCube, as well as Call of Duty 3 and Cabela's Big Game Hunter for Wii because my dad wanted them. He beat Finest Hour. I can't remember if he ever finished Big Red One or not. I don't think he ever did get the hang of the Wii controls for Call of Duty 3, and he never even touched Big Game Hunter. Needless to say, I won't be playing any of those games.

Oh, and a while back he bought some random racing game for the Genesis off eBay for no reason. I actually refused to inventory that one, and I inventoried absolutely every post-Atari game I own, including some random submarine game for the NES and some dumb Tecmo basketball game for the Genesis, also both my dad's fault.

On the other hand, he picked up a bunch of NES games from my uncle's house when he moved out to to Salt Lake City, and I need to decide which of those I'm going to claim ownership over. I actually own a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 now because of that, so it's not all worthless.

Boo, Call of Duty is still an enjoyable series from a single player standpoint. The completely ridiculous story with such elaborate setpieces is something I look forward to each year.

    I'm one of them.
Quake-style rage all you want, but realistic war give me the creeps.
I don't even enjoy films about war, though I tolerate them far better than video games.

    I enjoy some war films... on a guts-crushing, horrifying, eye-widening, omg-omg-let's-stop-this-foolishness way.

Fortunately there is no such thing as a realistic war game. =P

Yeah...For me, I 'have' played the game...but, I just got to the 1st save point, then "I'll quit for now and come back to it later"...but I haven't come back to them yet. Lately that is actually a big list for me now. (Well, I can't help that I keep playing the telltale games over and over again.;)) Also, a lot of them "I can't play part 2 now, I haven't even finished part 1 yet!" So...

    Halo 3
    Gears of War 2
    Mass Effect 2
    Bioshock 2
    Battlefield: Bad Company 2
half of the Kingdom Hearts games
    Ninja Gaiden II
most of the God of War games
    Valkyria Chronicles II
    Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
    Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
and a bunch more I missed.

Don't worry, I'll get back to these games...someday...

You should be able to send it in for repairs, or at least take the hard drive out of the old one and put it in the new one.

I bought the Resident Evil collection from Gamestop that has 0,1, and 4 but I only played through 4. I tried playing through 0 twice but both time my save data would be corrupted and could not load. I haven't bothered to try Resident Evil 1.

On Steam I have Deus Ex and Human Revolution I haven't started.

I had Bowser's Inside Story for a year before I could play it because the mic on my DS broke. I'm also finally getting to play Company of Heroes. I bought it on a steam sale last September and a few of my friends were playing it. Sadly I couldn't run it until last December because of my computer's hardware.

Metal Gear Solid 4 and Call of Duty Black Ops.

MGS4 I'm going to wait until the summer to play because its supposedly a long game.
Black Ops I'm waiting until I get a 3d TV to play.
