    Half life 2 : Episode 3.
Seriously, that should have been out ages ago.

You should be able to send it in for repairs, or at least take the hard drive out of the old one and put it in the new one.

Apparently, if you send your PS3 to Sony to be repaired then they send you someone else's fixed PS3 in return (with a wiped hard drive) and equally if you remove the harddrive yourself and put it into a new PS3, it will automatically be wiped :mad::mad:

    Metal Gear Solid 4.

MGS4 I'm going to wait until the summer to play because its supposedly a long game.

You don't play MGS4, you watch it. I'm not even kidding when I say that 75% of that "game" is cut-scenes (much, much more so then 1-3). The ending cut-scene is one and a half hours long. I'm not even joking. I still enjoyed watching though and there are a few sprinkles of Kojima's genius gameplay during the intervals between the movie.

Hmmm my list isn't very long:

    Last Wallice and Gromit Ep,
Civilization 3 (bought a box-set thing, never liked the 3rd one),
    SEED 2,
Team Fortress 2 (got an orange box and heard that TF 2 sucked unless you had already played it),
    Lure of the temptress.

Once I get a game I usually play it until I feel content with it, I'm also one of those people who enjoy most game types. "Realistic" war shooters are great for relaxing with ;)

This is not true. This only applies if you rush through the game blasting your way through and spraying bullets. It's obvious the developers didn't intend the game to be played like this. Try going through every area without being seen. You'll see, by the layout and placement of objects, that there is a deliberate way of clearing an area.

Want to have a lot of fun?
    -Try to get 0 alarms
    -0 kills
    -0 deaths

    It's such a rewarding experience.

I think I know what the problem is here. I played on easy mode and after completing it I heard a critic say that unless you play on at least normal difficulty then the game is nothing more then a shoot 'em up and as such it essentially breaks the game. I didn't want it to be a shoot 'em up but when it's approximately twenty times easier and a heck of a lot simpler to just shoot a bad guy instead of sneaking up on them; then that's exactly what you end up doing.

The one part of the game where you have to sneak (otherwise you get the fail screen) was the most enjoyable part for me, so I think you have a point. It's hardly my fault though, more of a design flaw (assuming you choose easy). As you said, the developers didn't want players to play this way, so they shouldn't have made it possible to do so if you choose easy. Once I get my new PS3 I'm looking forward to replaying it on normal or hard.

Having said that, there is no denying that there's a lot of cut-scenes. At a guess I'd say there's around at least around 25 hours of them.

Yes, that's another reason I'm delaying playing it. :p My friends told me he cooked an entire meal during one of the cutscenes.

But you can even it out by gameplay though. I did around 8 hours only playing act 1. I really took my time, explored the area and tried to come with strategies to get past unseen.
So you can easily make the game consists of 50% gameplay and 50% cutscenes. And to be honest for me the cutscenes in MGS were always the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. After some intense moments, a time of relaxation. =)

I hope that you haven't misunderstood me, I absolutely did enjoy my playthrough of MGS4 and would recommend it to people but I would also warn them that if they don't enjoy a heavy story element to their games (and if they haven't at least played MGS1 and 2 already because otherwise the story is incomprensible), that they might want to think twice before diving in.

Ultimately I felt that the game still maintained some fantastic and highly memorable moments. Some of the boss fights were amazing and who could forget the touching homage to MGS1's arctic base. Having said all that, I'm certainly not blind to the game's faults and also it's really not in the same league as MGS1 (although to be fair how could it be, plus MGS 2 and 3 weren't a patch either - as great as they were).

I thought it was as perfect as a game could've been.

There's nothing wrong with that, after all it's your opinion. You have yours and I have mine. I must say though, there's nothing in this life that I think is without fault. Maybe that's just because I'm English.

I've actually started all the games in my collection. Finishing them is another matter altogether.

I have plenty I haven't started yet, and plenty I have started but not completed yet.
If I where to make a list it would demand me to remember all the names which I can't, and the list would be way to long.

So lets just stick with, plenty. :p

I used to play MGS4 non-stop when I first got it. I must have played through it over 100 times (which is about 1000000 times less than MGS and 1000000000 times less than MGS2 and 3) but when I try to play it now I just can't get back into it. Not sure why. I guess I played the hell out of it to the point where its better off as a memory. I can still play MGS2 and 3 without anyproblems though. Li la lu la lo by the way.

So, I got Xenogears, Resident Evil 2 and 3 on the PSN and haven't started them. I did play them for a little bit a long time ago but never finished. But I coun't that as not started cause I rented them before. Oh, except Xenogears. I hear it was good so figureed I would try it out. Haven't yet though.

Then there's the Commando games I got on Steam. They were on sale. All 5 of them for 5 dollars or something. haven't played them yet. I got the original Mass Effect hoping to play it before Mass Effect 2 came to PS3 but nope. Can't anyway, won't run. Even if I run as adminstrator.

Let's see.... I got the sequal to mark of kri that I didn't start yet. I also got Resident Evil Outbreak 2 that i didn't start yet. There's several other PS2 game that i got for the heck of it. I see that they're slowly dissapearing at GameStop so I wanted to get as many as I could before it was too late. lol But now it seems that's not a problem because of the PSN re-releasing classic game from both PS1 and PS2.

    That's absolutely preposterous.

It's working against the user at any level.

Sony today is so evil, that MS seems just a rough baby by comparison.
It's a shame to renounce to The Last Guardian and similar things, but I'm horrified by the idea to feed Sony.

Not that I'm too happy to feed MS either... In fact, I dream of an open source game console :(

Microsoft does the same thing... it's common. Instead of spending time on fixing your console, they send you one that's already fixed. It keeps you from waiting longer than necessary for a new console. Hating on Sony for what is an industry standard is just plain dumb.

Are you serious? I don't think that putting and harddrive in another xbox will result in that hardrive wiped, regardless of what they do while "repairing".

Also, even if that WAS an "industry standard", if it works against me, I think I'll go on hating as much as I please, thank you.

You know what's just plain dumb? Keep on feeding companies that works against you and then also "be happy with it" and renounce to criticize because "it's just the way it is".

Try to grow a spine. It's rewarding.

EDIT: Oh, of course this was NOT meant as apologetic for MS, which abounds in its own evil deeds against users.

Nintendo does this as well. They link the old console's Wii Shop account to the new console and ship it out. They advise you to back up your save files on the SD card first, but some files can't be moved, which means you'd better not be too attached to your Animal Crossing town or Brawl records if your Wii needs work. I got it even worse, though, having forgotten to back up my save files at all. Just re-downloading all my shop channel stuff was enough of a pain, then I got to play everything all over again, including a second full 242 star run of Super Mario Galaxy. I still haven't made up the files for Red Steel, Excite Truck, Super Paper Mario, or my Virtual Console copy of Paper Mario, and at this point I've just plain given up on Guitar Hero III. After spending so much time on Rock Band 2, going back to that game would just be a chore.

In both Davies' (Sony) and GuruGuru's (Nintendo) and any other similar occurrences for MS and any other, my suggestion is to be sure to let the company KNOW that you're NOT AT ALL satisfied with the thing, when they ask you to fulfill an after-repair customer satisfaction questionnaire or with a follow-up writing to the customer support.

    I surely would.

No, what you just said is plain dumb. For example, when you send off a PC to be fixed and it's possible for them to save the harddrive. Would you rather they send you someone else's fixed PC with a wiped harddrive or take their time and fix yours and return all of your files?

Just because it's an industry standard doesn't make it right. You know that slavery used to be legal but I guess people should never have complained about that either, huh? I know that the two don't compare but I'm trying to make a point that when something is wrong, you don't just sit on your arse and put up with it...

Although most people do. Hence why the world is such a horrible place at times.

There was something called The orange Box that was released which had Team Fortress 2 and Portal in in. But he's saying that if you haven't played the first TF then you probably won't like the TF2. Which I don't see why not. As long as you like FPS's I don't see why you wouldn't like TF2.

Hell, I tend to get people worked up about FPS games when I tell them that they're all the same.

EDIT: I had to send my 360 in for repairs when it got the RROD. When I got it back the HardDrive was wiped clean. Traded that crap in for a PS3. Never had a problem since. :)

I think he meant something else.
Team Fortress 2 (got an orange box and heard that TF 2 sucked unless you had already played it)

I think someone just griped about how the "new" TF2 isn't as good as the "old" TF2. They are mostly upset over hats and silly updates and the like. I don't know how 'new-player-friendly' it is anymore but it is still the best living FPS right now, in my opinion.

Oh, god I have loads of unplayed games. (I'm not going into detail on that or else I'll be typing all day! XD)

The most recent example being the 5 Snes carts I just got from the post in the last 2 days.

Not that I don't want to play them, its because my Snes hasn't actually arrived yet!
(I bought the Snes first, then quite a few individual games. Funnily enough the games arrived first!)

(But once it does, I'm going to have an absolute blast! :D)

My own list of untouched games has grown by Pokémon White and is very likely to also include Pokémon Black by the end of the month. Technically, I've inserted White into the system and downloaded pseudo-DLC, but I won't consider it "touched" until I've selected "New Game", and that's going to be quite some time from now (unless Nintendo pushes out three more pseudo-DLCs in the near future, forcing me to start a new game to have room for a fourth).

Let me check my steamgames for unplayed stuff.

    - Bioshock (does not run on my PC)
    - L4D (same as Bioshock but at least I watched the intro ;-))
    - Commander Keen Episodes 2-6 (still stuck on episode 1.
    - Commandos 3 (I got the pack for Commandos 2 anyways)
    - Commandos 1+addon (I already played the german retail version)
    - Lugaru HD
    - Myst Masterpiece (does not start just like the 2 retail copies of it I have here)
    - Abe's Exodus
    - Recettar (was in a pack but I have no interest in it at all)
    - Riven (I played through my 2 retail copies though)
    - Some of the Sega Genesis Roms I got (bought!) this christmas
    - Tales Of Monkey Island (I played the TTG-Version, got the Steamversion as a backup)
    - SoMI Special Edition (does not even start because of thesae lazy b******** at Lucas Arts)
    - Dawn Of War --> all addons. I tried the main game but THQ forces me to play the German version which I would not even dare to touch with a 10 foot pole. It's horrible. This and Titan Quest are the only games I have on steam that I cannot play in English so I will just not play them. Thanks THQ for restricting the language your customers play in. I will never buy any of your games ever again.
    - almost all X-com game. I just don't understand what on earth I am meant to do there.

Games that I own, but have not yet played:

    - Crysis: Warhead (PC)
I lost interest after about the fourth BSOD.

    - CSI: Hard Evidence, Deadly Intent (PC)
Forensic Science is not really my thing, but if there is nothing else to play, I may dig these out one day.

    - Final Fantasy I & II, IV-VIII (PS1), X & XII (PS2)
I am evil, I know. Arguably the greatest RPG series on the planet, and I have only played Final Fantasy III (DS) and Final Fantasy IX (PS1).

    - LittleBigPlanet (PS3)
I plan to play this after I have finished Heavy Rain. Which reminds me, I am thinking about picking up Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Director's Cut.

    - Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (DS)
I picked this up at the same time as a few other cheaply priced Sonic games. Sonic Adventure was not nearly as bad as some have said.

    - Star Wars: Battlefront, Empire at War, Rupublic Commando (PC)
Included with Star Wars: The Best of PC. I was primarily interested in it for Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Knights of the Old Republic.

    - Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, Episode 102-104 (PC)
I wanted to like these games, but had trouble concentrating on them with more prominent TTG games coming out around the same time (i.e. Tales of Monkey Island).

    - Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (GCN Port)
One of these days, I am going to beat this game.

I was excited to learn that there's a directors cut of Fahrenheit until I looked it up and realised that cuts were only ever made to the original North American version. So I guess that my original UK copy already is the "Directors Cut". I was hoping that David Cage might have changed the highly disappointing and bizzare ending to be more in line with the genius twist that concludes Heavy Rain.

It sounds like there is a Director's Cut for Heavy Rain (Greatest Hits), but it might only be in the UK. I read that it includes the Taxidermist DLC on-disc, four XMB themes, and the soundtrack. When I first read this, I got a bit ticked. I just purchased Heavy Rain at GameStop last week, and they flat out told me that there were no differences between the original and Greatest Hits version of the game. They only had the original copy in stock, and it still carried the $29.99 price tag, so I took the bait.

I will wait to see if the Greatest Hits version that should be hitting US stores soon is any different. If it is, I may never shop at GameStop again. Their return policy is crap, their merchandise is usually overpriced, and they rarely have decent pre-order offers. "Pre-order your game today, and unlock Invisibility Mode on the day of release!"

Those chain stores can be real gits but that's what happens when one outlet holds a virtual monopoly over the market. Seeming as I already own the Taxidermist DLC and have no great interest in the soundtrack or XMB Themes, I can't say I'm too fussed over missing out. Also who could ask for more than the make it yourself origami included with the standard edition. I've still got the finished article sat on my shelf.
