The Great Moderator Thread (NOT Featuring Tom Pravetz!)

edited March 2011 in General Chat
So seeing as there are all these new mods, I thought they needed a thread. Unless they already have a super secret one that only they can see. Which would be so cool. I can't wait 'til I'm a super mod! But wait, really... What's up with making everyone a mod? Or at least just the big timers? I'm important! Was I purposely thought of and then ignored? Or was this all done just to muck with me?! I'm on to you, new mods...

But anyway. I really just wanted a thread with this title. Shall we take bets on how long it takes until some mod locks 'er down?

The forums had grown and the old mods asked Alan for more help managing them. I don't see any reason we need to make a big deal of it.

Hey ... Dont worry.. you were not slighted. you're definitely a valued member here.. I'm not really sure how they chose who they do.

There is a Mod board but its not as exciting as you may think its just mods talking about things to look out for and asking opinions from the other mods how to handle situations...

Well there is the Secret of Monkey Island in there but I do not imagine anyone would be interested in something like that.

Wait Guru is a mod now?

Ok now Im curious, how do you become a mod?
  • edited March 2011
Yes, I'm a mod now. We had this discussion a week ago.

And I could tell you, but I would have to kill you. Or ban you. One of the two, I forget.

You're all total sellouts. Coolsome and I will stand strong with our tiny avatars when this is all just a police state

I didn't think we needed to be discussing this, but if you guys are going to do it in Whatever's on Your Mind anyway, may as well give it a thread.

Step one.... Post on these boards

Step two.... Post on these boards a lot

Step three.. Do not troll the boards

Step four.... Stand out in the crowd ... I suggest a clever catchphrase (all corny catchphrases will result in a ban)

Step five.... bribe or blackmail Alan

Step six .... learn the secret handshake

Step seven. Learn all the super secret fatality moves in Monkey Kombat... oh yeah they exist.

Step eight.. its probably best to just follow steps 1-3

Step 1: Become a respected member of the community.

    Step 2: ???

Step 3: Profit! Ban Tom into the ground!

I'm okay with steps 1 and 2, but my 3 might need some work.

Aw, Step six is to hard! I was kicked out of Secret Handshake training and for #7 I got in trouble for over stepping the awesome.

The mod team is lacking someone who would make them Cool and Awesome.

It must have been when I cussed out that kitten. Clearly Alan was spying on me.

...is this thread really necessary? I mean, I don't get it. What does it add, exactly? Shouldn't threads about specific users or groups of users be the sort of thing we don't allow?

Oh no .... I ordered some vintage Reebok pump shoes I fully expect to be cool and awesome by next week ... I may also be able to slamdunk... we will see.
    ...is this thread really necessary?

Nope... but there are a lot of unnecessary things we let slide that are not nearly as lighthearted

Its one of those mobile phone barcodes.
You download an app that uses the phone's camera to capture the barcode which contains a link to a webpage.
(Actually I just looked it up and I think it gives more info in general...)

At least thats what someone told me...

It's a QR code. Just like any other type of bar code, but it can hold more data than the standard UPCs.

No, it's not, but I closed it once and they kept talking about it anyway, so I reopened it and dumped all the posts here. I'm seriously reconsidering my decision, though.

That is what they are for... although dashing's seems to lead to a link my windows phone does not like.

    Ohh that makes sense thanks.

Might as well let the conversation play out... its not hurting anyone and hopefully it will keep the topic from always coming up in other conversations...

LOL get it out of your systems.

Yes, this was pretty much my line of thinking on it, which is the only reason this thread is open right now.

Oh, I only became a mod because I wanted a cool "Max Head" icon.

...do I, like, have responsibilities now?
  • edited March 2011
Yeah I became a mod for the Max icon too... if you notice mine is actually slightly better than everyone else ..

This forum is lacking a mod who has an undersized cockroach avatar.

If I am chosen to be a mod I promiss to treat the norms the same way AM treats the last remaning humans....Hmm I think thats more a warning then an endorsment.

Guys, really don't think we should have a mod thread. The reason they were chosen is because other forum members look up to them, and they are honest and want to see the boards succeed.
