BeHeard.org

edited March 2011 in General Chat
One voice cannot break out against the squabble of the billions of other out there. Ideas are forgotten, plans never put into action, dreams never accomplished because people haven’t had the connections. BeHeard.org is a new idea, a fresh way to let the world know. Anyone can post anything. These posting will be shared with the world through the site itself, as well as widgets on other well known sites (hopefully). Your word will be spread across the globe, out there for everyone to see. All it takes is one little click to let the whole world know what you mean. BeHeard.org is entirely non-profit, and free to use, so anyone can change the world.

All I need is the funds to get it started, which brings me here to beg and plead for you to spare that extra dime. The link for donations is provided here. I would also love to answer any questions or take any suggestions. I will also keep y'all updated on the status of the site here as well. So... Thank you, Telltale.

Tomp what exactly is this for, the explination is kind of beating around the bush.

Well, for telling something to the world. Because it's much more difficult to get a message out there, or too expensive, this site shares it with the world by posting it up on the site and (again, hopefully) other sites. A sort of global twitter, where everyone is following everyone.

Man, I farted and it smelled just like rotted apples! I can't wait to tell the world about that!

Seriously, though, why, Tom? It sounds like you can just post random crap out there for the world to hear, but isn't that the entire internet? I mean, that's all you've done. You're trying to get funding to make an entire website that functions the same as the entire internet.

It sounds like he's trying to fund a website whose only functionality is essentially The "whatever's on your mind" thread.

That too. I'm fine with the idea if what is said is regulated, and it's not just a website for people to say whatever they want, but is a website for people to say something meaningful and insightful on various subjects. That is a great idea, but is still something that people could do all over the internet. Still, encouraging people toward better thinking and to do great things through a funded website, and to improves themselves and the world is a great idea, but if it's just a website to say anything just so the world can hear you talk about how you broke up with your girlfriend and how sad you are, or how your feet smell like poopoo, then it's no good.

I could see people using it... small local clubs... people trying to raise money when something unfortunate happens to a member of their community.

I wrote a longer, much more in depth intro that got deleted before I could post it. But it would go through a censoring. For meaningfulness. But being meaningless would be your example.

... Sort of... But not at all.

Precisely. An excellent example. You could also use it to spread the word of a new small business, start a charitable fund, get incite on an idea, whatever.
