Thank you so much Amy, you are my hero! I was thinking it might be something along those lines, like my graphics card was being overpowered (since I always have to turn the settings down as soon as I install a new episode). I was like, "If I can juuuuuust get to the menu!"
It seems to be fine now - you are really awesome, you know that?
I still can't find a workaround. But everyone who actually knows how to fix these things has been alerted to it via some very late night emails and there should be a fix in the morning (it's 3 am here).
For now if you're having this issue please post your OS version and hardware specs.
Also, if you're not a regular here you can PM me your email address and I'll send you an update when we've figured out a work around or uploaded a patch.
I noticed one problem that surprised me- a number of you guys are running OSX-5 (Leopard).
I have no clue how you got episodes 1 and 2 to work, but your system needs to be OSX-6 (Snow Leopard) for BttF to work. It's about a 25$ update from the Apple Store and will seriously streamline your computer anyway (I got it last year and it got rid of about 10 gigs of bogus files).
Are you running any other programs? What Mac do you have? It's not happening here so unless we get a lot more people with the same issue I doubt it's a bug.

Ok, i've deleted, re-downloaded and updated Mac Software. Also made sure all applications are closed and i'm still getting the same issue. Deleted download file, made sure there weren't any duplicates in the Applications folder and emptied the trash can.
The strange thing is Episodes 1 and 2 load so it's leading me to believe that there is a fault in the Ep 3 file itself.

Wasn't going to post... just wait until you guys fixed it... but as I have doubts that anyone running a mac can run this program, and you said other ppl with mac's have been able to, I feel that I need to call shenanigans.
I have a relatively new macbook pro, had no issues running ep's 1 and 2. the system is completely updated to all current mac standards. I was excited last night to download this only to find out today it doesn't work. When should we hope for a fixed version or a patch?
Edit: Have the exact same error report as the guy who posted right above me.
just like the others, episodes 1 and 2 ran perfectly with no problems but episode 3 quits without opening anything. here is the error report i'm getting.

I can't find the system req. anywhere... I saw someone said you need 10.6 (aka Snow Leopard). I have 10.5, but if it's that quick of a fix (and the upgrades pretty cheap), I'd be willing to go out and get it. Can anyone verify this as true?
To those of you that are calling shenanigans- I have the very first Intel MacbookPro that they made, way back in the dinosaur era of 2006. I have since made a few minor modifications to it (bigger hard drive, more memory, etc) and updated it to Snow Leopard, but the motherboard's the same. And I ran it fine, no glitches. If you don't believe me, these are my specs:

Heck, they don't even make the memory for my computer anymore (It came with 512MB) and when I upgraded, I had to custom order the thing. And it crashes if more than 2 GB are in the system- I don't know why, but it cannot handle it. And it works. So there is hope!

not cool. i just looked all over the page and saw nothing about system requirements. i figured that it meant it was pretty universal. if i would've seen that i needed snow leopard i would've kept my money.

Scroll down to the Mac section- it says "Snow Leopard".
all i did was click the game and all the tabs under that. why would i even think of going to the store button when the one thing i wanted was right there? why wouldn't all the information about the one thing be listed under the one thing i want? basically, why would a person think to click a more general tab to find more specific information about one thing? you don't have to reply this. it won't make me a satisfied customer.
Did the minimum system requirements change all of a sudden because Episodes 1 and 2 have worked perfectly for me, and I've been using OS X 10.5.8. If I need to switch to Snow Leopard, which I should have all ready done, I'll happily do it. Especially with Jurassic Park coming out in a month, but if not, that would be great. I'm a college kid and can't really afford to upgrade my operating system on top of the great Telltale Games

... so I tried to install on a Snow Leopard with the same install file that I originally downloaded.
I can confirm (for me at least) that running it on Snow Leopard DOES work. Although the 1st and 2nd episodes did play fine under Leopard it appears that this one does need Snow to go.
I understand the importance of updating the system, but if Ep 1 and 2 worked fine on 10.5.8, it doesn't seem right to have to pay an extra $33 dollars to play the rest of the season. I hope the great people at Telltale can find another solution.

It was supposed to be a system requirement for Snow Leopard for all five episodes. Again, read the sys rec that's listed in the store. They mentioned it when the game came out.
Like everyone else, I'm running 10.5.8 and the first two eps played just fine.

Apologies for the duplicate post (as you'll see this is another thread which covers the same subject matter) but i've downloaded the supposedly fixed version of this to my MAC and i'm still encountering the issue It's really strange. Once again, Eps 1 and 2 continue to load and run as they always have.
If it still doesn't work, please make another post in this thread saying so. Apologies for all the trouble. We'll be sure to check for issues specific to 10.5.8 in all future episodes of BttF.

The move it it to \My Documents\Telltale Games\Demo. The prefs.prop in the zip file should replace the one you have. Then try booting up the game.
It seems to be fine now - you are really awesome, you know that?
Any joy for us MAC users yet?
Anyone who had the "quit unexpectedly" problem on Ep3, got it going yet???
This is soooo frustrating! Episodes 1 and 2 were sloooooow on my old
PC, but ran like a charm on the MAC.
Now ep3 won`t even *start* on the MAC. (Why just ep3 tho???)
Hoping for a fix! ASAP
Thanks,

Agree. Especially since we paid in advance and the first two eps worked fine.
