Fun fact - Steve Urkel (real name Jameel White) also voiced Sonic in Sonic Underground.

    Funnererer fact: It's "Jaleel". :p

Can't say I'm looking forward to this game. I mean just look at that trailer they didnt even bother to add color to half of the background.

To jump on the 'Don't play Sonic 2006' bandwagon, I refer you to the Let's Play.. This is quite possibly the greatest Let's Play ever made, and it's for all the wrong reasons.

Thanks so much for that link, it was really funny. My favourite long play is as follows...

It takes a few videos to get rolling but when it does, I was laughing my arse off!

    I love this post :)

Ditto. I don't believe him though. I think it's pretty obvious he is sonic team's lead designer.

Im pretty sure that was an artistic design.
Kind of like the trailer for Banjo Kazooie Nuts N Bolts.

Can't say that's a good indication of the game's own quality measure.

Hey! We actually have gameplay screenshots now. And...

Well, if you read my dream game idea earlier, then... this is surprisingly close to it! I love the idea behind this. Play through similar levels as either a 2D old-school Sonic or a 3D new-school Sonic. That way, everyone gets what they want (hopefully)!

It's a great idea. Let's just hope they don't screw it up.

[Waits for someone to post The Sonic Cycle, as inevitable as the sodding Sun rising]

I don't get it. Why even bother with including the original sonic character? Surely the same effect could be achieved with the new sonic (I say new, he's been around for 11 years now. Longer in use than the original!), just like in sonic unleashed, only with a better non 2D segment.

It's a celebration of the various eras of Sonic, including old songs and levels remixed.

...you saw that on Kotaku's Comics Sunday.

    Still funny, mind.

    Not on the Wii. Great.

I know. Give it time, I'm sure they'll announce a port at some point.

Could be being saved for a re-release (maybe a deluxe version!) on the next Nintendo console...

Actual gameplay footage of both Old-School and New-Age Sonic.

And... um. My major complaint with Old-School is that the camera seems a bit too close. If they backed it up a bit, it may seem a bit better. Or is that just me?

New-Age... well, that's just the day levels from Sonic Unleashed in a much cheerier setting, isn't it?

If only Sega would be kind enough to release a half-priced "only the 2D parts" game for me to purchase.

I'm not a fan of the PS360 Sonic Unleashed, so the New-Age Sonic section of this probably won't appeal as much to me as the Old School one. So I'm sort-of with you on this one. Sorta.

And now, here's another thought. What kind of DLC do ya think they'll release for this?
  • edited April 2011
I'm sure there will be the obligatory "pay three dollars to play the exact same game but as Tails!" DLC. Beyond that I'm not certain, have the other modern Sonics have DLC? I gave up on 3D Sonic games before there was such a thing as DLC.
  • edited April 2011
Both Sonic '06 and Sonic Unleashed had DLC, none of which was really worth it, and Sonic 4 is itself DLC, kind-of.

I like your Tails idea. I suspect they'd do one for Knuckles as well if they did that. Not sure how many core levels the game itself will have, but new ones are probably a given.

That's a random place to get an image from. I guess Pepsiboy3 may truly be a troll.

Fun fact - Steve Urkel (real name Jameel White) also voiced Sonic in Sonic Underground. Along with his brother. And sister. I'm wish I was kidding.

"Jaleel" white. Also, I thought he did the voices of all three hedgehogs on Sonic Underground?

    Not on the Wii. Great.

good sarcasm, i don't have any of those systems either

    I have a 360 so I luck out:D
Although with Sega and Nintendo being good friends now a days, I actaully am surprised that it isnt for the wii. Would this game really overclock what the wii can do? Because the last time that happened, we got Sonic '06.

...did you not read the thread? Check the blurb you quoted. I said exactly that. I also conceded that I misspelled Jaleel, which is a name I always get wrong, but that was in an earlier post.

And pepsiboy posted footage that was identical to what I liked to. Wow. Do I just not exist sometimes?

To hop off the insult bandwagon, I've been thinking about this and I think it'll really polarize fans. The old-school ones will like the Classic Sonic, and the new-age fans will like Modern Sonic, but I don't think either will like the other. Maybe I'm being too cynical?
