Let's write a song!!

edited May 2011 in General Chat
So a good few folks around here play instruments so i'd thought it'd be fun if we all brought something to the table and tried to put a song together.

Putting it all together will be a bit of a nightmare but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. The very least we'll get from this is that we'll get to bounce a few ideas off each other and gave a bit of craic :) For now we don't have to worry about recording quality and tempo cos we're esentially just brainstorming

Anyway, here's my rough proposal for a theme, I dunno if anyone would wanna work with anything in this vein but it's nice to hear feedback!

Likewise post your ideas, every style and instrument is welcome and hopefully between us all we can get something really nice going on :)

    Wow! Thats was awesome.
(I'm still far from that level! :'( )

As for lyrics, for some reason the song wanted me sing about Duke Nukem rising from the grave.
(Since that was the last miracle I've ever seen! XD)

Maybe we could base the song around TTG or its forums?

Rich, if you and Nate were to ever combine forces...well let me explain it sciency like.

Haha, here's the first thing that popped into my head. Doubt it does the great man justice

This is the part where Rather Dashing leaves

We'll do something good some day :)

I'm a rad pianist. Blast over some chords and I'll wig along with something.

    [stops talking like a douche]

I'll gladly join in this :)

Edit: Quickly set up my mobile and worked out De Singe's theme from what I could remember of it.

This could be fun to watch as it develops :) You could make a song about Telltale Forum Members.

We have to do a song about Dashing now.

Complete with bad puns and melodrama like this:

    "OH DASHING!! YOU WERE SMASHING!
    BUT NOW WE'RE CRASHING!
since the day you went away,
it just hasn't BEEEENNN THE SAAAHAAAAMMMEE!!

    *the music dies down*

the worst part..... you didn't say.... goodbye...

    *music gradually builds up*

    GOODBYE!

    GOODBYYYYEEEEIIIIEEEEIIIII!!!!

    *music dies down*

    *whispers gooodbye.....*

I whipped up a quick song about Rather Dashing.

I cannot sing, and you cannot hear the words anyway, so here's the lyrics for you to sing along :D

    I’m so confused
Are telltale’s games hard or not?
    And that post above me
He got something wrong, but I can’t tell what

    The forums are lame now
    I hope it’s a phase
There’s not been a flame war
    In 36 days

    We know something’s missing
    And likely for long
    It seems for the moment
    Rather Dashing’s gone…

YEAH! Lets make an Album about Dashing.

    We'll call it

"Dashing Dashed Off! (and we want him back!)"

Hehe! When people play it its should say "She's already taken!" then a Telltale Rendition of "Never Gonna Give You Up!" plays.

Way too lazy to actually pay attention to what's being said or to check the sound sampl (i'll do that after i get some sleep, tho), but if i can find some way to record myself decently i might provide some crappy bass or guitar lines ;)

And what's that about dashing being gone  ?
First time i come back here after a while and i'm reading stuff about him everywhere

This is awesome! Also, if you need a back up singer or something at any point...well you know where to find me! And I know where to find singers!

Sounds great but it really needs to be done to the tune of "Want you gone"

For the sake of the children!

We'll have to put that in the Hymdal for the Church of Rather Dashing. Oh, and that's a thing. Check out the religion thread.

Once again, you cannot really hear me (and I still cannot sing) so here are the lyrics for you to sing along:

It might be how she is
    Never unkind
It might be her wit in
    “Whatever’s on your mind”

It might be the way she
    always helps out
    But one thing is certain
    Without a doubt

    That whatever it is

    Everyone fancies puzzlebox
From her snorkel down to her socks
    Yeah everyone fancies puzzlebox
She’d even look good with LeChucken pox

    It might be her charm,
    her grace, her style
    It might be her jokes
    that make it worthwhile

    It might be how she
    Never does wrong
It might be the way she’ll
    Delete this song

    But one thing I know

    Is everyone fancies puzzlebox
From her snorkel down to her socks
    Everyone fancies puzzlebox
She’d even look good with LeChucken pox
Look, she posted, I bet it rocks
    Her DVD edition is deluxe
She smells nicer than a wild ox
    Yeah Everyone fancies puzzlebox

    Edit: Chords are Cmaj7, A7, Dmin7, G7, Cmaj7, A7, Dmin7, Gaug
    C, Caug, C6, C7, F, Faug, F6, F7, Bb, Ab7, G7
    C6, Amin7, Dmin7, G7
The final chord is C7 with added 13 and 11 :)

    Banang: The Musical!

    3 whole acts of Banang!

    (At least a Banang song!)

    ......

I'll have to listen tomorrow, my speakers aren't plugged in and I could not be arsed at the moment. I had an idea for it but I was at work all day today so it never got done, it was like a tribute to 'I've been everywhere' by Johnny Cash, haphazardly rhyming off the names of forum members who all fancy P-Box. No doubt yours is better.

Be prepared for me to dumb down your lovely chords with my bag of cheap guitar tricks :p

Pop a Poppler in your mouth
When you come to Fishy Joe's.
    What they're made of is a mystery;
Where they come from no one knows.
You can pick 'em, you can lick 'em,
    You can chew 'em, you can stick 'em;
If you promise not to sue us you can shove one up your nose.

I wrote this one for Comrade Pants this is my musical vision of him rolling about the wastelands of Mexico and wasting bandits and romancing senoritas.

It has no words because a desporado does not need words, only actions

That is so awesome Jed. Anyway, we have a number of musicians now. Care to start bossing us about so we can make some phenominally big telltale musical? :D

Ohhh, starting always hard, we need some sort of overture, that we can play on throughout the piece of music and establish throughout. I'll have a mull over it tomorrow when i come home from work and see what I come up with. We can use what we already have as well for different bits and pieces. Your rather Dashing piece and Comrades desperado piece are both in A minor so it's an easy transition at any rate.

Wondering if we can do anything with that first thing I posted, it's a bit Paul Simon on it. It's in C if ye wanna have a stab at noodling with it

That was beautiful. I feel like taking a trip to Mexico, now. Who wants to film it for the music video?

Oooh! Pick me! I've always wanted to go to Mexico. Sort of silly, actually why I haven't already. I mean, it's right there, only about three hours away by car.

Though in retrospect, if my filming is in anyway related to my FPS skills, the video will probably be composed of nothing but lovely shots of the ground.

Whatevs. Good enough. It's better than Michael Bay, after all.

Maybe I could make it artistic. Follow your tread marks around or something. Leave people wondering what the hell happened there. Which would probably be a fitting response to such a video.

Bahahaha - I only just caught up with this thread. A far more accurate title for any song about me would be "Puzzlebox ain't all that, people just have a skewed perspective because she only ever posts pictures that make her look all right, in the grand scheme of things she's honestly not that good anyway, and also people on here who say they fancy her are not entirely serious, but everyone is of course aware of that so let's just play along". Catchy huh?

Anyway, you guys are pretty awesome with those sweet tunes. Who'd have guessed at the ocean (or at least considerably sizeable pond) of talent sloshing about here?

She's a real puzzle! It excites Dungeon and Dragon fans and RPGS and adventure gamers alike....!!!

A totally original song by me:

I used to think that I can't fly, I can.
And now I know that I can fly, I fly.
And then I go and fly away some more.
I fly and fly and fly and fly and fly.

First I can't fly. Then I can fly.
Then I try to fly. Then I finally fly.

    I believe I can fly!
