Back to the actual poll. If we're talking America I think health care's a big issue, letting someone die simply because they can't afford treatment is... well it's just not on. I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of Americas healthcare system, but rallying against healthcare for all as far as I can see it is a bit selfish. You're afraid to take a potential hit to a service you can afford and happy to let those who can't afford it to fall by the wayside and get sick. That's not really how civilised society works in my eyes, we all chip in.

If you can afford private fancy pants healthcare they're always be a market for it, there is in the UK even with the NHS

As far as healthcare goes, I really can't see exactly how it could be done and still function correctly. It's not a matter of money, really, though it would cost a lot to implement. It's a matter of doctors. We simply don't have enough doctors to be able to provide free healthcare to everyone. They're overworked as it is, and with the hordes of people that would be flocking to get medical attention after it is made accessible to everyone, healthcare would be even less efficient than it already is. Which is pretty inefficient.

The only solution to this that I can see would be to make medical schools easier to get into, which is a fairly disconcerting notion.

Or cheaper, i'm sure it costs a lot to go to medical school.

Plus you have to prioritise You have a wart? Well you can't see a doc untill you've tried such and such a treatement first, that kind of thing. People'll bitch sure, but it works out better than leaving folks to suffer in poverty

It would be great if people would actually do that, but we both know that most everyone will lie in order to get out of doing more work. And enforcing such a ruling would cost the country even more money. Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic, but whatever.

Of course, I can't think of a good solution where everyone gets the health care they need while not compromising its quality, so I guess I shouldn't really complain about it too much. Maybe solving our education issues would solve our "lack of doctors" issues. Or something like that.

Now I'm not sure whether places like Australia and the UK have a greater proportion of clever people interested in medicine, or just dumber doctors. :p

I think it's more a factor of how large America is. Also, I believe in the UK one starts training as a doctor earlier, like after two years of college, and is able to start practicing soon after. So there's most likely a faster turnover rate. And, especially in California, we have a huge number of illegal immigrants who add to the population and use the health care, but wouldn't be able to become doctors for obvious reasons. So there's that.

Which leads to another potential way to solve part of the problem: either somehow convince all the illegal immigrants to leave or just make them all citizens. One or the other. It's ridiculous to just leave things the way they are and hope the problem will go away.

I know it's a touchy issue in the states, but c'mon, it's not like (insert current perceived enemy here) is going to drop troopers down or come over by boat and you'll start man on man combat... Trust me, a nice big sword deters burglers just as well lol personal firearms really arent necessary, especially in this day and age.

As others have said, that's probably grossly inaccurate. Many of us are from countries with existing strict gun control laws, and I know for a fact there are people from the US here as well who don't agree with "the right to bear arms". And believe it or not, some people are capable of holding differing opinions without hating one another.

I must say I don't understand why you start a thread like this, and then contribute little but potentially inflammatory comments.

The community backlash towards Guru made it worthwhile.

It wasn't so much of a community backlash as like three people. And it wasn't directed at Guru in particular.

If you want to troll, you should pick something lovable, funny, and definitely more worthwhile than picking on someone who has already been through the ringer with Pants and I.

Edit: Ninja'd by the voice of TTG and apparently the entire community. This has got to be some sort of record.

Wrong. Many people in this sub-forum discuss games, mostly those not made by Telltale.

Jesus trolled the Jews, so if I'm going to follow in someone's footsteps, why not Jesus?

I disagree, trolling can be worthwhile if it's just mischievous and makes people laugh.

Anyway, it's not really trolling if you look like a clown 20 minutes later :p

That's an interesting assertion you've got there. Care to elaborate in what way Jesus trolled the Jews? Cause, he sorta was one, you know.

It's not my fault your government doesn't even trust it's own people to own firearms or defend themselves. And almost everyone in the United States, if not everyone, supports the right to bear arms and is against banning guns. Even the most hardcore liberals and communists support the right to bear arms and many of them own guns themselves.

You are trying far too hard.

There's a lot of talk to be had here, let's not get distracted with nonsense guys :)

UK and Ireland has open borders with the EU now, there's a lot of colouful new languages about our towns yet we're still getting on fine. Procedure and protocol are the key it seems

    Quick quote time
A survey, commissioned by the HSE in 2007, found that patient satisfaction with the health service was quite high, with 90% of inpatients and 85% of outpatients saying they were satisfied with their treatment. In addition to this, 97% said they were satisfied with the care provided by their GP.
