Maybe not the greatest excuse but the name change may be because apparently the movie has been adapted from the first two books.. and not just the first book titled The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists The second book actually has two titles one for the US and one for the UK to further confuse matters.
I do not love the band of misfits title but I do not hate it either... I can live with the compromise.

Makes sense, marketing a product to improve hygiene to people who like pirates. Pirates aren't exactly known for good hygiene.
I saw it last week with some friends. It was pretty awesome. Not least because it had davey t in it. And blogs island was awesome. By which I man blood island, but the predictive keyboard says otherwise. I loved the pirate naming system, especially the surprisingly curvaceous pirate. How many books were there? How many more can they make into films?
(Yes, the Pirates! will be joining Lord Byron on the shores of Lake Geneva....)
I've just read "The Pirates! In an Adventure with the Romantics"... this is probably the best installment of the series since the original. Also saw the movie, which is OK but just ain't the same as the books (I have a sneaking suspicion that if anybody other than Aardman had made it, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good as it was)
Yeah i really liked this movie.....It would be funny if Wallace & Gromit got a cameo, Maybe as a statue in Charles' ship. Something that i throught was really funny was when
The Pirate captain and his crew put on costumes to sneak into England

yeah.... I guess they felt it was safer..
I will not let it bother me.. but I do like the original novels title better too.
Sorry if I'm not the first to notice.
Looks like fun, I'll try to see this.
I'll keep an eye out for it!
Maybe they will find a ring that is greater or equal value to the Midas diamond.

aaaaannnnndd.... Blood Island? Not the same one.. but doesnt it look like Guybrush would fit right in walking around down there?
This anachronism stew needs more salt.
