Frankenstein threads
I really hate it when a couple vaguely similar threads are merged for no real reason. It makes sense to merge threads when people post several threads about the exact same topic at roughly the same time, but there's no real reason to merge threads that are totally different from each other, or posted several months apart, into one amalgamated topic. It'd be like if a news site just merged all of the news on the front page tangentially related to the United States under one headline that said "The US Does Some Stuff". The value of separate topics is that you can go into one that specifically looks interesting to you. When they're all mashed together into one vague general topic, no one really wants to sift through 6+ pages of posts to see if there is anything worth looking at in there.

Edit: Merg'd.
EDIT: Uhhh... Shit.
It sure isn't the holocaust, so why not talking about it? Try to reason with people who wants to pay but can't, or maybe change the now-obsolete habits of some people who pirates stuff because they think games aren't worthy to be paid. I mean, it just does not solve it for anyone. Sure, Warez links or things like that need to be eradicated, but it's because it's the direct breaking of the rules. My only guess is that we just don't LIKE talking about it so we just pour cement on the whole thing. If it's that so, fine.
I don't see any reason for these threads to merged into a single thread. They're all related because they're videos, but the videos are all totally different. Putting them into a single thread severely limits the amount of conversation that can be had about each specific video, as well as making it more difficult to tell exactly what videos are even in the thread without looking at every page. For example, a topic about a BttF/Terminator video would appeal to Terminator fans, but how would they know there is one in there without going into a vaguely titled topic containing a big pile of marginally related videos?
Merging these threads together has a similar problem. Yes, they are all marginally related as far as their topic, but putting them all into one thread removes the focus from each separate topic within the thread, severely hindering the amount of discussion that can take place for each different topic contained within. Not to mention that an 18 page long thread is a very daunting read for anyone who hasn't already read most of it.
And while I have your attention:
I have an easy answer for you. The piracy issue is actually an order handed down from Telltale. Regardless of whether we feel that piracy discussion should be allowed, we're to shut it down on sight.
And SHODAN, I saw that post. The others are free to override me if they feel differently, but I'm saying no.
The reason the "whatever's on your mind" thread was moved there is exactly the same reason those threads should be moved there. The nature of the threads is not conducive to conversation. Sure, little conversations break out here and there, through the course of the threads, but those are usually few and far between.
I would even go so far as suggesting a different, post-countless sub-forum made specifically for that type of post.
Though, if it comes to this, sooner or later every new thread will have to undergo a board of review to see if it is relevant to discussion and also not too controversial. A police forum, you might say!
And then...the Revolution!
I love revolutions! Can I be Trotsky? I want to be betrayed by the Revolution's Stalin figure once the Lenin figure dies!
Okay. I want to be Stalin, then, so that I can betray you! It will be fantastic!
It's only because we're sad, sick, twisted individuals who look upon our postcount as a tangible representative of our overall quality as a human being. That's all.
Giving you this opportunity is reason enough to never, ever allow this forum to become a police state.
I dunno, man. We're well on our way...
WHATEVER'S ON YOUR MIND! NEVER FORGET!
That's our Potemkin, man.
And Dashing? He's a collaborator with the Tsarists, for sure. Selling out those threads and murdering our poor post counts.
Мир! Земля! Хлеба! Вся власть Советам!
Sure, I don't see any problem with that, Вождь.
This is probably the most comforting news I've heard all day. Better than all the assurances, anyway.
Sweet! Should this Revolution thing happen anyways, at least we've got it all planned out. All we need is a Lenin so that they can die off and leave all the power to me.
Hm... Who can be Lenin? Hey Fawful! Get your ass in here!
I'd rather they just remove post count entirely.
This is true. Revolution is brewing, we cannot deny it anymore.
Yes! We need an inspiring...well, a leader, anyway.
I get the feeling that you're ignoring us. That rather hurts, you know. Before continuing your violent, reckless campaign against things which Alcoremortis and I care deeply, perhaps you should tell us why we're wrong to car about our post counts? Perhaps you should tell us why we take pride in a measure of our activity here? Perhaps you haven't got it in you?
Reactionary, bourgeois traitor to the glorious Blinky Revolution! You don't deserve that avatar.
We have rules that we have to follow along with our personal Judgement and yes some threads to get merged poorly. Post counts are sometimes taken too seriously but there are good points about them too. Sometimes a higher post count is a sign of seniority along with Join dates.
Also some people like to rush count, so they can get seniority post counts are all just how you look at them.
Quantity != Quality
I maintain that the bantering between Alcoremortis and I was well within the design of most web forums. You know, the whole talking to people online part. Clearly, you hate free speech.
There's also the fact that we, you know, haven't been bantering a lot on here anyways. Probably due to the enormous positive reception we received by being entertaining.
Also,
I don't understand. What does this even mean? I may have made plenty of pointless posts, but they were usually understandable, if that's what you're getting at. Usually.
Remember how we were welcomed back with open arms? What happened to those days? Was it the reactionaries? The Tsarist Okhrana with Dashing, murdering Whatever's on your Mind? The long running abuse of power and systematic obliteration of the Democratic process? Who can say?
This coming from the guy who has more recorded posts than Comrade Pants and Alcoremortis combined.
I think we may be remembering different events. Our return was more likely to be heralded by crazy old men waving signs telling of the coming apocalypse than parades and open arms.
Fawful! You're here! Will you be Lenin in the coming revolution so that you can die and I can assume your position?
Oh ho ho! Burned! Wanna be our Lenin, Fawful?
You needn't play long! Just long enough to die and let Alcore be Stalin!
Мира, земли, хлеба! Read your revised Soviet Forum History Volume II, dear Comrade. It's right after the part where the fire breathing community manager allowed the murder of Whatever's on your Mind to go unpunished.
inb4 ban, fire breathing is a pretty cool power, you know. Also, I didn't name anyone specifically, so *technically* no rules were broken... I think...
Thanks for the information. I wasn't really blaming anyone for it, and to be honest piracy isn't something that I'm fond of when it comes to discuss about it. It's just... random to me. I just wonder why. I still do. It's like they don't want people on their forums to say anything about pink doormats, or Jerry Seinfeld. It just makes me think and I can't really get too far.
Oh. Right. the Revised history. Alrighty then, yes. Of course.
Also, this thread: DERAILED!
Guess it should be chucked into Forum Games now. It's what SHODAN would have wanted.
If that happens, I'll be forced to come back as a ghoul and haunt you all. No, I'd rather be Patton, and go through you like shit through a goose.
I think you're confused. See, Patton beat the Nazis to death with a pillow case full of nickels, not the Soviets. He just glared hatefully at the Soviets.
Ah, yes. Freeman. The traitor. The reactionary. The Tsarist. He's worse than Goldstein, that one. Worse, even, than Snowball.
This does leave us lacking a Lenin, though. Which is mildly problematic.
