I watched two episodes of Doctor Who total, but they weren't ones with what's-his-name, uh, the one with the hair, the one everybody likes most. But I saw those BEFORE everybody got so exited about the series. Am I still a hipster now??

Ha, everyone knows Colin Baker and his Technicolor Coat is the superior Doctor to David '*baby crying noise here*' Tennant.

You know, I really don't see what's so bad about David Tennant. No, he's not the best Doctor ever, but I don't really see what's so bad about him.

Then again, I never watched the old Doctor Who episodes, so all my opinions on the show are not valid since I'm not qualified to be a real fan.

I watch Conan O'Brien's monologue, 1000 ways to die, futurama, and sports. Otherwise, I just watch movies.

    Don't do that on Television
    Sifl & Olly
    Josh.0
    Alf

These are awful. Geez, why am I even posting this crap?

I generally hate those posts that start with "how has nobody mentioned x yet?" in stupid list threads like this, but it's absolutely out of control that not one person has mentioned The Wire in 86 posts.

The Wire and Sopranos need to be watched in their entirety by almost everybody. It isn't debatable. If you're asking for TV recommendations and have not seen one or the other, that's your first order of business, period.

You keep telling yourself that, bud. I'm just sitting here, contemplating watching what in my opinion is one of the best finales since All Good Things... for the sixth time.

    What a waste.

Heh. Dashing got me to watch Morel Orel and now I'm hooked.

Been thinking about watching Moral Orel, though I heard it gets really depressing in later episodes. Though I enjoyed Mary Shelley's Frankenhole so far.

That's the BEST PART. If "brilliant" isn't the correct term for that section of the series, I'm not sure any modern work of art is worth the honor.

Thanks for introducing Moral Orel, Dashing!
I've never heard of it before, But as soon as I figured it's about Morals and it's a Dark-Humour series ... I shouted SOLD! out loud (sSOL)

How's it's creators other series, Mary Shelly's FrankenHole?
Does it live up to his previous one?

Huh, it seems that the first Sherlock episode is a remake of the unaired pilot. I liked the unaired pilot better...

On another topic, why does everyone love Firefly so much?

I'm not really a fan of Sci-Fi, I just keep hearing about FireFly EVERYWHERE, wondered what's the fuss.

Watching it myself possibly wouldn't work out, as I might not see, what a Sci-Fi fan sees in it.

Nathan Fillion is an awesome actor, though.

Well it's sorta a Sci-Fi/Western hybrid. So if you like cowboys there will be some stuff that you could appreciate. And it's hilarious. There's that, too.

Give it the pilot episode at least. I'll say that within the first fifteen minutes or so, I was hooked.

I didn't care for the show (it couldn't keep my attention)... But the movie, Serenity, is well worth watching.

I've heard of it alot about how great Firefly is but don't really like space (ones set on a ship with a crew fighting aliens) type sci-fi shows (other than Red Dwarf but thats a comedy) I prefer more speculative fiction type thing like old anthology series. Is there anything to recommend it to people like me?

Because it's got a cow fetus in an episode. Also, it's a great show.

Already checked out the first episode and I loved it. It doesn't give me the feel of many Sci-Fi's out there, they also don't use any of those ridiculous laser guns.

Aren't you glad we just made you watch it instead of giving you concrete evidence? Welcome to the Firefly club. You're cool now. Go make yourself a badge.

There's an episode centered around a laser gun.

Also, I read a little bit about Moral Orel. Especially, the third season.

All I can say is wow. And, no thank you. I'm sure it's a great show, but I'm not a big fan of really, really, REALLY black comedy. South Park is as black as I can handle.

I must have forgotten that episode, as I clearly don't remember it.

Next to Cowboy Bebop, this show has one of the greatest opening themes ever.

Not a fan of the Boondocks then, eh? But it's non-threatening black comedy....racist.

In one episode, they were trying to steal an antique laser gun. Or pistol, or whatever.

Well, I think it's funny. I'll admit there has been a slump in quality before, but these past few seasons are awesome. Anyway, it's got more laughs than what new Simpsons episodes has to offer.

EDIT: I ended up checking out some episodes of Moral Orel (on Youtube. Please forgive me), and it might be one of the best animated show I've ever seen.

That's an understatement. I really hate the idea of turning into Dashing, just because agreeing with someone all the time makes me feel like a tool, but I can't sing the praises of the final season of this show highly enough. It'll never leave me. Hell, I honestly can not believe it will ever leave anyone. I don't consider it depressing, though. I might be the only one with that opinion. I don't think it's depressing at all. Actually, I think it's refreshing. This show is.....I've never seen another American television program like it, which so much depth, such profound writing and twists, so much memorable perfect characterization, such a living breathing world, and such BALLS. And the music. Wow. I rewatched the ending about twenty times. It's really beautiful. There is a sadness to it, but all of the themes work together to create one of the sweetest endings I've ever seen. The previous episodes are important in ways you would have never thought. In fact I'd say that the first couple of seasons are there not only to introduce the world through Orel's naive, impressionable eyes, but it uses our own naivety to lure us into a false sense of security, and then it slams us in the face. The show is a masterpiece. That's all there is to it.

Now I haven't seen the final episodes of the Boondocks, but man, both of those shows had the same sort of humor and potential to be what this one is, but I have a sad suspicion Boondocks didn't reach the same heights, which is too bad as I love that series. Actually, the closest I can compare as far as depth and the ending to is....Calvin and Hobbes. This is a bit higher level than Calvin and Hobbes, but they're very similar in the feeling they evoke for me.

And to Dashing, for introducing this one to me, I can only say one thing:

I thought it was because they felt bad for the people creating it. The only thing admirable about the show is their intense production schedule which allows them to stay current.

This particular way of arranging their schedule grants the episodes they produce a big amount of longevity and memorability, comparable of... goddamn evening news bullettin of any channel. Preferably FOX. People surely torrent that newage shit up nonstop.

That, and creative use of animation style, lack of gratuitous exploitations of special guest stars, and writing. Obviously, you'd disagree, but a lot of people don't.

Huh, no love at all for How I Met Your Mother? I know it's a sitcom, but Neil Patrick Harris is amazing.

I second Arrested Development too and based on this thread, I think I'll be checking out 30 Rock.

    Little Britain

I rather liked the first Little Britain season, mainly because it did not cross my limit in terms of fecal and obscene humor. But come season two they introduced no less than four recurring gags/characters/skits which went way over the line. There's the grown engaged man who keeps being breast-fed by his mother and grandmother, there's the elite lady who would vomit exaggerated amounts of her stomach contents precisely on the most gross parts of her surroundings, then there's the overly fat woman who tries to have sex to pay her debts and gets naked whenever she can. It's just not funny.

Please don't mind that I spoiled about 50% of the gags for you with that comment. :(

Obv other stuff like the characters all becoming 2D caricatures and the fact it just isn't as funny as it was, but goddamn the product placement/addressing the viewer thing really got grating

Yeah, it's called Flanderization, and I agree with you, though I never found the product placement thing that bad, and I still think the show had some funny jokes. And I like how, unlike most sitcoms, every moment is dedicated towards comedy. There are very little serious moments, dramatic moments or heartwarming moments in 30 Rock, and the ones that are there has jokes in them. That, and the weirdness.

Oh, and another show I like is Mr. Show.
