I assume you're one of those people who believe that Chuck Berry didn't write 'Johnny Be Goode' in the BTTF-verse, and that its part of a stable time loop/bootstrap paradox wherein no one really wrote it (Marty heard the Chuck Berry song, and in turn 'inspired' Chuck Berry to write it in '55)...however, truth be told, it has been clearly established in the movies, that there are no stable time loops in BTTF of that sort...so basically, in the original timeline, Chuck Berry DID write the song all on his own, without being inspired by a teenager from the future...
So, to answer your question, the genre of rock would have evolved the exact same way even if Marty hadn't been a Chuck Berry fan...
From the short snippet of the solo that Chuck heard over the phone, he may have been inspired to write the song somewhat earlier than he otherwise would have, but he was already "looking for" that sound, so it wouldn't have been long before he found it on his own.
Really, if anything, Marty playing the song could have prevented Chuck Berry from writing Johnny B. Goode, because you wouldn't "write" something if you'd heard it already. He probably still would have recorded it as a cover.
Truth be told, that whole Chuck Berry thing was a just a little time travel in-joke, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fixed time/stable time loop theory, which BTTF otherwise completely ignores.
The other examples are Marty's name and Marty 'inspiring' Goldie Wilson to be mayor...
If I remember correctly his "cousin" only calls Chuck Berry after the actual song is already over, and all he gets to hear is Marty's improvised solo.
You're correct. At best, Chuck would've heard some of the guitar riffs, and reusing guitar riffs from other songs has been done long before and long after Chuck Berry.
