Post your favorite 8-bit art and I might make it.

edited August 2011 in General Chat
I make 8-bit art using perler beads. See here: http://twitpic.com/1i81jc

But I'm totally out of ideas. If you post your favorite 8-bit art I'll take to make it out of beads. It can be a screen shot from an old game or a sprite. It doesn't have to be TTG related.

    Why start small.

I wish I could recreate that in Terraria. This game needs more colour bricks...
And not: that was not a serious suggestion.

    btw: That Yoshi looks awesome!

Off the top of my head, you could do the NES-style sprites I did of the C.O.P.S. a while back for the Telltale deck of cards.

    th_COPS4Diamonds.png

Or you could have a look through my deviantArt gallery and see if you like any of my Ocarina of Time stuff.

Or for something I didn't make, something from Zombies Ate My Neighbors would be awesome.

That is awesome, but it's huge. Check back in a month!

Nice OoT stuff. The card is a definite but I need to buy more grey. I have a ton of white but I don't think it'd look nearly as good.

PS. I'm working on your small sprites now. :)

    Awesome!

I didn't necessarily mean for you to do the whole playing card, that was just the only shot I had of the sprites. You can do whatever you want with them. Or you could do the card if that's what you like.

    Coolbeans!

Have you got Simon Belmont, thats a pretty cool sprite right there.

Or even, better is Megaman 2's title screen

    megaman-2-title-screen.jpg

I just love how he's flaunting his hair!

My personal favourite is a sprite I randomly made up one day for a videogame idea, that I never started.

    2bupvn.png

Its death, but with a tie!
(He was supposed to be an executive in the game for Hell inc. and he had to go to earth and investigate why the soul turnover was rapidly decreasing. Final Boss was going to be Cthulu.)
(Wait... why am I not making this? Looks like I got something to do next week! :D)

Wow. I have to make this one. I've made a few suggested sprites already but I'm waiting for more sand colored beads to come in. I was going to use peach instead but it turned out poorly.

May I ask where you do your shopping? I've been looking for a new hobby, and perler beads always struck as a bit childish (no offense), but the idea of making badass 8-bit art like this has sold me. :P

The store is ugly but they ship insanely fast.

Because TF2 art must always be followed by L4D art. (or Portal art)

Insanely fast shipping trumps good looking stores any day. :D

I can't remember the groups name but I've seen some of their work before. I even made their 8-bit Gordon Freeman

I truly wish I had their skills. I just take screen shots, crop them and then run them through a cross stitch pattern maker.

As a suggestion for your first order:

Giant bags of black, white and red. Then get smaller bags of everything else. And never buy the shaped peg boads. Get the large square interlocking ones.

Haha, my first thought was the L4D demake, but the art was too simple to make anything interesting, and I found that during the image search.

I also found some 8-bit Big Lebowski images...

You too can own a bead-art John Goodman!

Man, my boyfriend would go nuts for those.

Great! Thanks for the info, and I'll see you on the [enter lame bead pun here] side!

Also, that image is pretty blurry. If you find a better one before I do can you post it here?

    O.O

Must see. (and if it's from Lords of Shadow, then you are the queen of bead art, haha.)
