What DC comic would you (YES YOU!!!) pick to become an animated movie?

edited November 2011 in General Chat
The DC animated movies are now mostly based on the comics from DC Universe rather then original storys. Such as Batman Year One, All Star Superman and Dark Knight Returns. With that being said which are the DC comics you would like to see be an animated movie?

Mine would be "Killing Joker" my first DC comic :P and the shows the Joker at his most iconic level.

I'd have to second The Killing Joke.

...I wonder if they'd credit Alan Moore if such a thing was made, since he's so famously anti-adaptation and all.

I third the Killing Joke. Blackest Night..and Knightfall.

I would suggest one myself, but oddly enough I don't actually read any DC comics.

As for Marvel, Spiderman: The Other would have made an excellent animated movie/mini-series, before the whole "One More Day" copout.

Marvel Zombies would be a fun adaption too.

And I have always passionately argued that there should be an Exiles series,
(That comic book run, had some flaws, but overall was fantastic), or an animated version of Earth X/UniverseX/ParadiseX.

The pre-civil war Thunderbolts was great too.
(Now its just gotten silly... -_- )

Before getting too sidetracked here, I'd love to see more Batman or Justice League stuff.
    (Loved those cartoons)

Killing Joke is an obvious one... Long Halloween and Dark Victory would be great.

The Long Halloween, with no single contest at all ever. The single best comic I've ever read.

I have to agree with most of you, The Killing Joke and The Long Halloween would be great movies. But I would most love to see The Question made into an animated movie. Especially one based on the Dennis O'Neil-series from the 80's.

The Alan Moore Swamp Thing run. That be an epic animated series or a really kickass live action one.
  • edited November 2011
The Marvel Civil War, The Long Halloween, Bruce Wayne: Murderer & Fugitive, No Man's Land, American Vampire

Just because this thread needs more non-Batman answers, I'm going to mention Kingdom Come.

...Well, Batman is in that, but you know what I mean.

WHAAATT!!! That's looks awesome. I didn't know they were working on that. Thanks for sharing.

Guess I'm alone on this.... but HUSH!

...and obviously Killing Joke, especially since it's the one Mark would particularly come back for.

That would have been my second choice. Hush was really cool. I enjoyed seeing him an Arkham City too.

I want to see an animated feature based off of Crooked Little Town. Come on, tell me I'm not the only one who would enjoy an animated feature of Catwoman. I am aware that there is a short attached to Batman year one, and that was fantastic(the short btw).

I wouldn't mind an animated feature of Plasticman if it was like the cartoony pilot that sadly didn't get picked up.

For my first two picks, well, "The Killing Joke" is a pretty obvious one to take on, and "The Long Halloween" is also a pretty good one.

Also, is it just me,or would anyone else like to see an adaptation of "Superman: Red Son"?

About that, Warner Bros. Animation recently showed clips from that pilot when presenting their new DC Nation-block on Cartoon Network. So it's possible we'll see more of that in the future.

    Check it here

^ Lauren Faust...doing Wonderwoman, Batgirl, and Supergirl...I think my mind just exploded with awesomeness.

Knightsfall. The idea of a movie where
    Bane literally breaks Batman's back
    - that'd be awesome. Also, Hush, and Killing Joke.

Away from Batman, some of the not-quite-A-list characters might be nice. Green Arrow, for example, or Aquaman. Perhaps the Flash or Cyborg. I dunno. How about Ravager? She might have the chops to make it on her own, away from the Titans.

Finally, All-Star Batman and Robin. Just imagine Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill doing this - they'd either play it straight and make it hilarious or camp it up and make it hilarious. It's win/win!

I would watch a movie with Red Robin or Nightwing.

I have a strange feeling that JL: Doom might end with most of the Justice League dead. I mean, I saw Superman getting shot by a kryptonite bullet!

These two are a bit out there. They're not really well known but there are two other batman stories that I really like. One is from a special that had several stories in it.

The last story in that special was called "Slayride" and was about the Joker causing Chaos during Christmas. Robin is fighting crime in the streets but gets into some trouble. Suddenly a car drives by, the door opens and someone shouts for him to get in quick! Needing a quick get away, robin runs for the car just to find that Joker is behind the weel and knocks him out with knock out gas. Robin awakes, he's tied up and in the passenger seat (dead bodies in the back seat by the way) and he's forced to watch as Joker runs people down in the street. It's short but a really good read. My favorite part is when Joker goes through a drive through to order food and orders everything on the menu. But he's speaking too fast and the lady say's he'll have to repeat his order. This gets Joker very mad. He drives up to the window and says, and I quote, "Listen to this, you brain-dead cephalopod! I have better things to do than repeat myself ad nauseam in the fleeting hope that through some miracle you might somehow triumph over your own crushing ignorance and get one item of my order right!!! I demand to see your manager!" The manager shows up at the window, Joker shoots him in the face! lol Classic. The name of the actuall comic is "Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Special". It has some great short stories in it and I recomend it to all batman fans.

The other comic is "Batman in Barcelona: Dragon's Knight. It's an interesting comic that pits Batman against Killer Croc in Barcelona. Croc is there because Scarecrow and hatter suggested that he was the reincarnation of the dragon that St. George, Patron saint of Catalonia killed. He thinks that his path to greatness is to avenge himslef against the knight. So yeah, Croc is a bit crazy in this one. But it was a good story with some great fights between Croc and Batman.

I wouldn't mind seeing animated version of these stories.

That one sounds awesome. Also sounds like a DVD extra, much like 'The Chase'. Make it happen, DC!

Honestly...I'd like to see a PROPER adaptation of The Death of Superman. Superman Doomsday was alright, but it was missing a good deal of what made the comic awesome.

Beyond that? I say Swamp Thing's due for a comeback.

Batman owning Superman by finding out his identiy when Superman had to cheat to find out Batman's

Movies, I don't know, but TV shows, I would pick any of Alan Moore's America's Best Comics comics (even League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which could be really awesome if done right), except that they didn't really start as DC (it was a Wildstorm imprint that was sold to DC), and Alan Moore would go on a murder spree if it ever happens.

Also, Plastic Man. And yes, I've seen the Tom Kenny Pilot, but I wanted something along the lines of The Tick rather than going full-on cartoony.

Why can't they make another Batman cartoon series like the one in the 90s? Instead we got that gay cartoon The Brave and the Bold.

Wasn't The Batman a more serious version? That wasn't too long ago.

I thought it was good too! And they made a movie with that series: Batman vs Dracula which I thought was well done. The show wasn't as good at Batman:The Animated Series, but it was a good show on its own.

I would like to see an animated feature based off of Batman and The Spirit. Although. I'm not so sure if DC holds the rights to the spirit character.

The The Batman was ok... My biggest complaint was the villians seemed off... but the Bat was a decent version of Batman starting out.

I prefer the older one. The only thing I liked that came from that show was The Batman vs. Dracula.
