Why would you need them? They already have sound and at least CoMI doesn't really need improved graphics. (But it would be nice to be able to buy them again after all those years...)
Well I'm assuming that they wouldn't work under my OS (Windows 7) and didn't want to use that SCUMM software to run them because I though it might slow my PC down
ScummVM will not slow you down and works very well with ComI. Not with EMI though. But who would want to play that? It's even painful to watch someone suffer through that game.

No classic game "needs" improved graphics. It's just awesome to get them.
Agreed with der_ketzer regarding ScummVM.
It's a terrific way to run Curse of Monkey Island on newer systems.
Don't agree so much about Escape from Monkey Island, which I mostly enjoyed.
To run Escape on your computer, you will find helpful software on this website, including an alternate installer that works with Windows 7 that also includes an alternate launcher (downloadable separately as well).
CoMI really just needs an updated installer so it'll run on modern systems without fussing about needing ScummVM. Hell, if LucasArts just released CoMI on Steam using ScummVM, that'd probably be fine.
EfMI needs a revamped inventory system and a decent control scheme (and the Monkey Kombat moves list feature that the PS2 version had) and it'd be a lot more tolerable. It wouldn't fix the fact that the plot isn't as good as the rest of the series, but it'd really help overlook that.
That's really all we need. The art direction of MI3 still looks good today, and I see no reason to update it. They don't really need Special Editions, just an update.

Or they could do the same as they did with THe Dig, Loom & the Indy games.
If they are going to do it, they should give Escape from Monkey Island to Telltale. If they do it themselves it will be a piece of crap fresh out of the cesspool.

...why? They did a great job with 1 and 2.
I agree that neither game really needs a drastically different special edition, but if they wanted to do an HD update and put them on Steam, I'd re-buy them in a heartbeat.
I loved Curse of Monkey Island, but it could always use a touch up. Escape on the other hand needs an overhaul. I really want to play it, and I've never been able to due to the infuriating controls/not running brilliantly on my computer. So I would absolutely love someone to tear it apart and put it back together again for a special edition. Curse just needs a new coat of paint! It had brilliant visuals, but a special edition would be perfect.
Just so you know, Dashing's opinion of Monkey Island is that MI2 was the best, and that Curse was a terrible sequel for various reasons, including how it apparently permanently changed the tone of the series to being more light-hearted and comical.
I disagree, and have said more than once that Curse and KQ6 are my two favorite adventure games. I'm just letting you know, because when TOMI was first released there were more than a few arguments about whether Curse should officially be considered Monkey Island 3 or not.
I first played Monkey Island when 1+2 came on a single disk with a demo of CoMI, so they are all interconnected in my head. So yes, I do think that we should be given (Ha, "given", more like "be able to buy") a special edition of (at least) CoMI.

You mean this?
I have it also. In fact, I first played MI2 after buying this disc. However, I first played Secret from the PC EGA diskette version, which my aunt and uncle bought for their new computer at the time. Their family never got into it much, so after a time my aunt gave it to me.

3d looks even if curse looks good it still could be updated
Hints
mega monkey mode & normal & easy (cnt remember name)
problems fixed
trophy support
HD looks
Remind me again why does Curse need to be updated to be in 3d?

At which point a lot of us were going like Guybrush in COMI:
LALALALALALALA I can't hear you!
