Jak & Daxter Thread

Well this thread is the place to go talk about Jak & Daxter also crash and uncharted but mainly Jak because in my opipion they are one of the best game series ever and the best series on the playstation ill start with telling everyone how annoying the get the artifacts mission in Jak 2 is very annoying but still im moving on in the mission.

    Honestly, the first game is still my favourite. It was a simple but fun platformer that never pretended to be anything other than Mario 64 with better graphics and an actual plot and was all the more glorious for it.

    The sequels were, let's be honest, GTA knock-offs. GOOD GTA knock-offs, but knock-offs all the same. They completely changed the tone, the gameplay and the style of the series and I think that's a shame.

    But I wouldn't have 100% them on the PS2, nor be looking to pick up the PS3 collection when it comes down in price, if they weren't good games.

    So to judge them on their own merits, Jak 2 suffered from an insane difficulty wavelength and had a plotline that didn't really make all that much sense if you actually thought about it, while Jak 3 had way too much driving around and a focus on making Jak an awe-inspiring saviour that made him strangely unlikeable.

    Still good games mind, but I preferred the series when Jak was a mute and the game felt more like a simple little adventure.

    I agree. The first one was the best.

    I had the first two on the PS2, but unfortunately, as Darth Marsden mentioned, its insane difficulty spikes made the second game too frustrating to complete.

    And I think thats important in game design. You either make your game hard, or you make it challenging. Its consistency that matters.
    A difficulty curve that yo-yos is just frustrating, it throws the player off completely. There's little lee-way to prepare yourself, and sometimes it can feel a bit cheap.

    I am temped to get the trilogy again on the PS3, most likely either as a cheap retail bundle (wait for the price to go down), or I will buy each game digitally in succession.
    (So I buy the first one, complete it, then get the second one ect.)

    If you do get them on the PS3, I recommend waiting for the price to go down. Getting them individually is a really expensive way of doing it. Alternatively, just get the first one and save yourself from tearing your hair out in frustration.

    Yeah, I'm waiting for all these HD bundles to go down in price and snap them all up.

    (I don't play my PS3 much anyway. I main the 360)

    Likewise. (The waiting for a price drop thing, not my preferred console). I've only got the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia collections so far, since they were only a tenner.

    Well since i was so exicted for the trilogy coming to ps3 i got the game the day after the game came out (had to go to Game for it but still worth it)

    I ordered Jak 1 off PSN just because it's in 3D.

    Well i finally beat Jak 2.......Now to get Jak 2 & 3's platinum trophies.....this will be hard

    Jak 2 was not as hard as i remembered it. When i first played against Metal Kor in Jak 2 i could not beat him but in The J&D Trilogy i managed to kill him on my second try against him.

    Hmmm so you say my favourite game series is coming to Vita? I will have the first 3 Jak games on an portable console? Sony you picked the best series to go on Vita...Now give me Sly and Ratchet trilogy :P

    (sigh) I can't believe it....well reviews I've read about J&D Trilogy on Vita is 100% true at least for the first game. I got the trilogy today on the PS Store and played Jak 1. Even at the start menu i could notice lagging but its far worse when its in-game, (sigh) tell me please....how did they do it? They can port over PS3 games from 2013. They can port over Sly Thieves in Time an open world 2013 game with higher graphics with no lagging yet a game from 2001 is laggy as shit. I heard Jak 2 & 3 is better but still this is an epic fail. The game feels rushed due to the damn lag in Jak 1.

    In other good news though, anyone else agree this Jak & Daxter statue looks great?
