Lisa Simpson - Because like me, she is a vegetarian. I also like her because she's often the only voice of reason in an insane town. Her incredibly strong ethics are admirable.
Marge Simpson - Because she reminds me of my own Mum and she's such a caring character, who's full of compassion and is a devoted to her family.
Squeaky-Voiced Teen - Because he consistently makes me laugh!
One thing I dislike about the newer episodes (the one isn't meant to mean this is the only thing) is how the background characters keep getting bigger parts in the show especially The Rich Texan and Moe, there seems to have been endless episodes about his backstory and depression. I find his Flanderization more jarring than Flanders how did he change from just the ugly, surly and hateful bartender who secretly reads to the homeless and children at the hospital to this guy who always seems to be trying to commit suicide or lamenting how bad his life is. There were great old episodes that dealt with Moe in a sidestory like Bart Sell his Soul and Raging Homer.
Here's a question what episode(s) did you think the show jumped the shark?

Flanderization is a matter of practical necessity for The Simpsons. The original shorts acted as an outlandish parody of a universal telvision-watching culture that simply doesn't exist anymore. Their core concept has been stripped away for years. They can't look to something else to exaggerate, so all they're left with is to look inward and exaggerate the existing cast. There's no other way to keep the show going, really.
There have also been a lot of bad ones, including the last console release. I originally enjoyed Bart VS The Space Mutants, but looking back, it wasn't a very good game either.

I loved the Simpsons Game! Mind you, I played it pretty much colely co-op, which may have had something to do with it. Sure it was very generic gameplay-wise, but it was funny, and had some original ideas to it. The combat system needed work though. And some of the later levels (Grand theft Scratchy was incredibly dull.)
Loved Simpsons Hit & Run. I remember one Christmas everybody just started it up in the afternoon and we just sat there joking while messing about on it for 4-5 hours. Probably the last good Christmas for me which is weird since we did nothing much.
Simpsons is capable of so much because it was that damn good when people about my age were growing up you'd always have to watch the new eps. But it just seems too comfortable and overused now. I love the Simpsons, but maybe when they get to Season 25 they should slow down and write half as many eps a year?
The Simpsons Arcade Game is a work of art and if you don't have it on XBLA/PSN then you're seriously missing out.
The two on the PS1 are so horrifically abysmal they must never be mentioned again.
Road Rage is a blatant, and I mean blatant rip-off of Crazy Taxi. That's not to say it's bad though, because it's not. It's actually quite fun if you're in the mood. It's far from perfect mind, but it's still enjoyable.
Hit and Run is GTA for kids. And it's glorious. Driving around a fully 3D (albeit slightly inaccurate) version of Springfield is great fun, as is smashing stuff up, punching aliens and revisiting all those classic episodes with the vehicles you can drive. Lot of fun to be had with this one.
The Simpsons Game is... better than it should be. It's pretty much a standard third-person platformer, but because it's been made with something similar to, though not quite, 'care', there's a lot to enjoy. The plot doesn't make a lick of sense and it does start to wear out its welcome by the end but the humour carries it surprisingly far and the fact that it's playable in co-op is added fun.
Quite a lot of the retro titles, including (but not limited to)...
Game Boy/Game Gear
Bart & the Beanstalk
Bart vs. the Juggernauts
Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly
The Itchy & Scratchy Game
Itchy & Scratchy in Miniature Golf Madness
NES (Famicon)
Bart vs. the World
Bartman Meets Radioactive Man
Krusty's Fun House
PC
Bart's House of Weirdness
Virtual Springfield
SNES/Megadrive (Genesis/Super Famicon)
Bart vs. the Space Mutants
Bart's Nightmare
Virtual Bart
Arcade
The Simpsons Bowling
Mobile Phone/iOS
Itchy and Scratchy Land
Minutes to Meltdown
Tapped Out
PlayStation 2
The Simpsons Skateboarding
And my personal favourite...
The Simpsons Cartoon Studio (PC/Mac) - I adored this title as a kid. I love any software which allows the user to be creative.
Either way, it was terrible and should never be discussed again.
Just HAD to prove me wrong, didn't you? Well, we'll see what manner of demons you've unleashed to do so! I hope it was worth it!
So why do I think it was on the PS1 then? Probably because MobyGames won't display it when I search for PS2 Simpsons games. Seems even history itself wants to forget that abomination. (Ok, it's here, but a guy can dream.)
Thank goodness Futurama only got one game. Sure it was just an average platformer, but the humour in the game was hilarious (especially the cutscenes, which were later edited into a psudo-episode on the Beast With a Billion Backs DVD as "Futurama: The Lost Adventure").

Someone actually had to play through the entire game again just to get that footage. Pity that person.
I might be the minority with The Simpsons Movie but I was pretty unimpressed with it and I don't agree with the acessment that it was just as good as the a classic era episode. The funniest and most quotable parts seemed to be from the Albert Brooks character and he likes to improvise most of his dialogue. To me it just seemed bar a few standout moments just another part where the writers have just lost there spark for writing these characters.
I'm just wondering but does anyone else like Seasons 12 & 15? I thought while not as good as earlier seasons they still had good episodes like Tennis the Menace, HOMR, The Great Money Caper, Worst Episode Ever!,The President wore pearls, The Fat & the Furriest, The Regina Monolouges, and my personal favourite of the season, Catch 'em if you can were great episodes.
Comments
Doesn't Gill get a lick!?
Agreed.
Assuming of course that Springfield isn't in North Carolina.
Homer at Bat
22 short films about Springfield
Bart Carny
Homer the Smithers
You Only Move Twice

Fair enough. I thought that you may have been insinuating that I'd failed to include it on my list (the post I made just prior to yours)! Never mind.
Cool, that looks like a really fun concept, I'm intrigued to see how they handle it. I might have to track down a copy.
And wow, that's a lot of early games. Most of which I've never played. Before my time and all that.
Well, that makes me feel old. I remember renting Space Mutants on NES back in the day. I think it was the only Simpsons game at the time.

However, this is my reaction to the more recent episodes of the show.
It's a long episode that's actually FUNNY. The Simpsons needs to end, it really does. There are only so many times they can do the same jokes.
Being fair the episode Holidays of Future passed was a pretty good episode with Bart & Lisa.
On another note, anyone else like this funny video of The Simpsons made by the person who makes Taco-Man plays videos? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1KTxxOyokA
