Straight Edge

edited April 2012 in General Chat
Is anyone else on this forum Straight Edge? PS I know what your thinking but I been straight edge all my life Im not jumping on a CM Punk bandwagon. Although it is nice to have someone Like Punk who doesn't do drugs or booze but isnt a Ned Flanders type person that you can look up to.

For some, this extends to not engaging in promiscuous sex, following a vegetarian or vegan diet, and not using caffeine or prescription drugs.[1]

..yea I'm only of the no drink and (harder then caffeine) drug version. Promiscuous Sex is A Okay in my book.

I don't partake in promiscuous sex these days (I will only sleep with a woman if I'm in love with her). Also, I am a vegetarian. However, I'm certainly not shy of taking recreational drugs or getting drunk from time to time.

Ultimately though, it doesn't matter what I do or don't do; I would never refer to my self as "straight edged" because I generally don't believe in labels, I'm simply a horse man named Ed!

TBH I never used the moniker till CM Punk did on WWE. But I always followed that way of life. Straight Edge sounds cool as well. :p

Way to take the fun out of life. Seriously, good for anyone who makes a choice and sticks with it.

I kind of find that funny coming from ROHs CM Punk though.

I don't partake in promiscuous sex, or take any drugs of any kind (don't drink coffee either)
I do eat meat though, and drink alcohol occasionally.. I'm not "straight edge" - I'm just "ME!" :D

I don't have sex and I don't do drugs. My use of alcohol, however, is well documented.

I've never been drunk and I've never smoked a cigarette (or anything else for that matter) in my life. Does that make me partly-straight-edge?

The worst subculture in the scene at that, the sXe kids were always the most annoying tossers at the shows.

I'm always happy for folk who do what they want to do or not do of course, I just hate lectures :)

I will have sex outside of a relationship assuming I'm not in one, I drink maybe twice a week, I don't do any recreational drugs and I totally love meat.

What am I a subculture and subgenre of? I'm hoping Jedi Knights.

Nope, Jedi Knights are opposed to sexual relationships because... George Lucas is retarded!

SW: And the universe was saved!
    FV: Yay! Awesome!
SW: And Luke got laid like crazy!
FV: This is bull! I can't relate to this at all!

So the Jedi Knights believe that it is wrong to care for someone and to form a committed, long-term relationship with them but it's okay to sleep around with random people and then chuck them?

Yep... George Lucas is a retard!

Guess I'm pretty much Straight Edge then, too.

Maybe that's why everyone hated the prequels.... there was a relationship... with a GIRL!

Oh no. That's right, it was because they were complete garbage, never mind me.

I almost qualify except that I love meat and if anyone tried to take away my Imitrex or caffeine... they'd have another thing coming. Though technically, all of the above are basically my tools for keeping my life migraine free. I would probably be constantly a bitterly angry person otherwise.

I think that explains a lot about my own personality. :/

Get yourself some meat and caffeine then! Actually, I don't know if that would work for anyone other than me. I honestly don't know many of the triggers for my migraines, but I do know that not eating meat for a significant amount of time causes them and that drinking lots of caffeinated things tends to make them less likely to happen.

You keep away from my booze, meat, and meaningless sex! :p

Nah, if people feel like exercising stringent self-control, that's fine. I don't really see how being a vegetarian/vegan fits into that particular paradigm though.

If being a vegetarian or vegan requires self control, ...I don't even know how to reply to that. That's kind of like saying you're a lesbian that has to put effort in not sleeping with men. Granted, I believe the prior is a choice and the latter is not, but it's a good comparison in the regard that it should not require any self control to avoid something you should have no desire to do.

That's my opinion anyway. I have a couple good friends that are vegan for the principle and I hold them in high regard and applaud them for that... doing it for health reasons and such kind of seems like faking it to me. Hey, what do I know.

I enjoy meat but try my best to avoid eating it in front of them. They have never lectured me or tried talking me out of it, but I do kind of feel a bit guilty eating it. I can't help it, I understand the sentiment and can't disagree with their opinions on the matter... I just like meat. Just for coolsome, It's like this.
