It has nothing to do with the sound card. It happens to literally everyone which can be proven by simply checking some let's play videos on youtube. The pops and audio gltiches even happens in the EXACTLY same spots for everyone no matter what kind of pc configuration they have.
The reason you don't hear it is either because you have shitty sound system or aren't really sensitive to audio issues.
If you are using standard pc speakers or speakers in your tv, then you will most likely not notice the issues.

To me it sounds like it has been wrongly downsampled/upsampled and is overly compressed on top.

I didn't play those games at launch, so evidently they patched those too, just like TWD. I'm actually somewhat of an audiophile and a musician. Even TWD steam version didn't bother me too too much, but yeah I definitely noticed. I have a Sherwood 5.1Ch receiver with $400 of Sony speakers and a 10" powered sub by a car audio company called Dayton Audio. I noticed no such sound issues when I played those other games, so they must have patched them before I played. Therefore I hadn't noticed. You'll also see at the start of this thread I hadn't played TWD at all since I didn't want to install Steam version. I noticed the issues, and they are fixed now in TWD.

Sound card, cables and connections can definitely cause those kind of problems too, so that's what I assumed it was. I'm just glad it's all fixed now, good job TTG

I'm glad Telltale has resolved the sound issues, now it looks like The Walking Dead will be the next game I buy.

I see from gameplay on the web that Telltale still doesn't know how to produce audio properly and with every "s" syllable it feels more and more like nails on a chalkboard. Anyone not experiencing this? I know for me it makes it unplayable, hence why I waited for the first episode to come out and see gameplay first. I'll not be ordering unless I hear they've patched the audio and actually fixed it.

There were audio problems with the initial release and Telltale released an updated version a few days later (at least on here anyway, and the steam version was updated too - don't know about the 360 & PS3 versions).

Check this thread for more details: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29160

As far as I know, both PS3 and 360 versions have the updated audio.

And yes, I merged the threads immediately. ;)

Way to make my link totally unnecessary! Might as well call you Mergemoinen...

yeah im in the same boat mate, i own, SAM n MAX, Monkey Island, Wallace & Grommit & Back To The Future & the audio for all of them (particular "s" sounds) is horrible, great games but i honestly cant play them... the sound drives me crazy & totally ruins the experience for me

i promised myself i would never buy another telltale game after BTTF until they release high quality audio downloads for all their games i own & until they do i wont be buying any more of them & encouraging others to do the same

in this day & age there is absolutley no excuse for it as NO other game i own has this problem (& that includes games from the 1980s)
