Radical Entertainment's shutting down

edited July 2012 in General Chat
Shit. And I tried hard to get a job there :(

In case somebody doesn't know, they're the creators of Prototype, Scarface, Simpsons: Hit & Run, a few Hulk games, and some other really cool games (and like most developers they had some not so cool games, but, whatever)

This saddens me...but Activision like EA will cut you if your not producing what they want.

Technically, I think they will cut you if you're not producing what "WE" want. I.e., if it sells in large quantities, they're probably fine with it. But it's a legitimate criticism to suggest they have summer blockbuster and repeated sequel expectations for everything they publish, leaving precious little room for risk-taking on innovative "art house" games.

I have many fond memories of that game. It wasn't perfect, but it understood fun.

I'm confused. Activision closed Radical Entertainment because of poor sales of Prototype 2, but it was the best selling game when it came out, beating even Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The article states that the sales of all games were down compared to the year before. It seems that Activision is blaming Radical Entertainment for the poor state of the US economy.

That's Activision for you. I remember when they actually made good games. Not anymore.

It's strange that Activision was founded by former Atari developers to give game developers credit on games they created where they couldn't at a money hungry corporation like Atari, and now they've become a money hungry corporation themselves.

Does this mean we might get a good Crash Bandicoot again?
