Well I give up, it's after 8PM and nothing is happening. Neither Telltale nor Steam are answering their Twitters and it looks like Steam users are getting left out to dry on this one. I wouldn't be quite as annoyed (more bummed out than anything) if it wasn't for the fact that I already paid. That is what is getting my goat right now.
I would say I hope Telltale addresses the issue but I doubt they will given how things appear to be handled. Not sure why they aren't updating their paid customers and letting us know this is Valve holding our game back, not them. Heck if I were trying to get a product into the hands of customers who had already paid I'd be all over Valve's business right now trying to get this game to them.
Still baffled by how today ended up like this. The restrictive PSN and XBL got the game no problem yet the PC version came down to the wire and now no Steam version. Where are you Telltale?
I just want my game lol I had planned to stay in all night to play it (lame I know) and the GF was all ready to watch. Hopefully my plans still happen.

Earlier, another user claimed to have received a tweet back from TTG (I'm not sure if that's true or not) saying that they had forwarded the product to Valve, and that it was out of their hands now. So, as far as I know, this is an issue with Valve/Steam. It would have been nice if TTG had made an official announcement about this, but alas, no such luck.
I understand that they all have families, lives, dinner, etc. to get to - but come on. We're not asking you to take the game home and keep working on Episode IV, but at least hop on to the TTG Twitter and give us a little update. Not knowing bothers me infinitely more than knowing and not getting it tonight.
We are collectively experiencing a piece of history. A new age of game design and development. An age where a story of substance matter. An age of puzzles and characters we will remember for years. An Age where time and release dates are irrelevant. And the name of this glorious age shale be.... TellTaleTime, or T^3.
And if you don't like it I will just keep shoving it down your throat.

Telltale isn't that godly. I play games almost exclusively for story elements and I can recognize this.
Unbelievable. I've spent an hour and a half trying to download this and every single time the game doesn't get past the main screen after I click to continue
I'm in the same boat. Telltale are honestly the worst game developer going today. Their games are OK but their customer service is the WORST.

Chill.. You're right, you did pay. Guess what? You'll get what you paid for eventually. Just because you don't get something instantly doesn't mean it's the end of the world. (This applies to everyone)

I would agree but we where told a time the game would be released. Its not just the fact he didn't get his game as he was told he would its also the lack of communication and respect that we should all get when we give a company our money. Telltale isn't one of the big boys of gaming I think we all thought they would be a little bit better with telling us know what is going on.

If you need your AIDS meds, and cant get them, you will die.
That does not apply to every one.
At this point it's a distribution problem on part of Valve. I'm not mad at TTG anymore. The fact that Origins got Episode 3 before Steam is just pathetic.

Instantly? I've been waiting patiently all day long, I've been waiting patiently through all the other delays with the episodes, I've been waiting patiently since 6PM PST when Telltale said the game would release. I'm not being out of line, I'm not overreacting, I'm simply voicing my distaste for the poor service and abysmal customer relations I've experienced with Telltale today.
Regardless of if this is at Valve HQ or not they gave gamer's their word today that this would happen at a certain time and it didn't. What is worse is they didn't even address it which is rather concerning considering they have my money.
Tell me to chill out when I'm saying "Screw Telltale!" or calling for a ban of their games. Don't tell me to chill out because I expect better from a company that happily took my money then lied to me about when I would get what I paid for.
I can pull out my phone right now and send a Tweet in under 30 seconds. You can't tell me these guys are so busy that they can't update us.
@ John W.
I think my tone throughout the thread should show I wasn't intending to be a dick but just join in on the conversation in a joking manner. If I were being a dick I'd be more like the above lol.
And that's what I want here is some communication so I'm not coming back to my PC every 10 minutes or so. This is a story driven experience and spoilers are all over the damn place so I can't wrap my mind around the thought process of a staggered release schedule. To me it would make more sense to hold all versions back until they are ready then release at the same time to avoid issues like this.
Also regardless of if Telltale got this to Valve or not they are the ones who choose Steam as their distribution means and it is up to them to deal with those they contracted to help deliver their product.
If I order something off Amazon and UPS doesn't deliver it Amazon doesn't tell me "Oh well I'm sure it'll get there at some point." So why am I expected to do that here?

I don't think it is, Steam has to code a few files to make sure the game requires steam to be running to start the game, and it may not all be cut and paste. With origin I believe only SOME EA titles get this treatment, I can run a few EA games without origin running, but Mass Effect 3 does require Origin. So that is likely why it is taking a bit long on steam.
Why did any of them have to be released when there was no tech support in the hours following. very lame. I will still play and love the episode but jeez I wanted to at least download it before tomorrow so I could play then. Oh well. might as well just stop looking as it just makes it more depressing. It may be out of telltales hands now but only in that hot potato kinda way. they threw it all directions then walked out of the circle
I don't think they've even released a game on Steam before now, have they? Might be wrong, but I was under the impression that, before TWD, they released all of their games on their main site. Personally I had never even heard of them until I saw TWD on Steam, so hey.

I think all of their games are available on Steam I got Back To The Future that way

Actually, they have the entire Sam & Max series on Steam, and a few others, too.

All of their products are available on steam(as complete products) and starting with the Devil's Playhouse (I believe) they have been released episode by episode as they were completed.

You're right about that, there is no reason for someone (Steam or TT) not to update us,I guess. But is it really something to be pissed about? Yes,maybe as a company they should be a bit better and actually tell us something else? But we're all human. Humans make mistakes.

It's justifiable to at least be somewhat agitated over not getting a release on time when it's been delayed so many times beforehand.
Some of the anger levels here are a bit extreme, but to have to wait yet again for something we've already had to wait so long for, and way past the scheduled time, is hard to deal with.
I don't understand why NOBODY posted telling us what's happening. I thought They told us they weren't going to go dark on us again. What a terrible release day, it's sad to see Telltale lose their "magic."

For the nth time it is working on the TTG client and Origin.
Steam is the only platform that doesn't have it.
Hahahaha xD
Off topic is little in this posts

Gentlemen,

I like the sound of that. We've already got a few points of reference:
Monthly - Approx. 2.5 months
By mid-August - August 29th (for some)
Very shortly - maybe tomorrow, who knows
(I have slow internet)

That does not apply to every one.
As far as I can tell you have to buy the season pass so I imagine it would automatically download all of the available episodes.
I'm not 100% sure on this though.
Wait what huh? Either i'm missing the point here or there is none.

definitely bad luck. im supposed to have it and dont! cant get past the main menu. its 11:30pm.

zombie invasion started, so they all had to stop producing game and protect their families...
It is out. Just not Steam. I think Gabe Newell ate it.
