Telltale I want my money back...

edited July 2012 in The Walking Dead
I have spent almost the whole afternoon trying to get past Brenda holding Kenny's wife to only having that old frakin' hag shooting me in my frakin' face over and over and over again.
To make matter worst the entire checkpoint system sucks, so if I have to reload just because I made the "wrong" decision, then it will take me way back forcing me to replay a big chunk of the game.
Now, I understand the amount of lagging in the game, the out of sync dialogue/button response and sucking checkpoints, what I dont understand are the glitches, specially in crucial moments like I pointed above leaving me out of choice since I cannot finish the game.
So Telltale, what are we going to do now since you already have my money?.
Your move telltale...

have you tried stopping when she tells you to and the speaking to her?

    1. keep your cursor over her.
    2. walk slowly.
    3. Stop when she aims her gun at you.
    4. initiate dialogue when possible, always choose nice answers.

How is it this hard for some people? I got through it easily.

first... the game is 5$, you really want your money back?

second... this is the best xbox arcade game every made and you wanna tell telltale games off because you got stuck on one part?

third... this part is so easy. like every other part of the game if you get stuck, just stop and look around. In this case move your aim to the lady holding duck's mom hostage and keep talking to her. the cut-scene will ensue

Man, I didn’t even got shot once at this part (but I was shot once at the barn,… shame on me and on my damned mouse).

I don’t know. It seems a little obvious that at that kind o situation you should avoid aggressive moves when the gun is pointed at you so I moved when she wasn’t.
  • edited July 2012
I did it on my first try. I inched carefully towards Brenda because I had no idea what I was supposed to do but stopped when she aimed her gun at me and picked my responses carefully.
  • edited July 2012
sorry mate, but this game is so easy, they can't make it any easier without making it into a movie. I didn't die once in episode 2.

When somebody points a gun at you and tells you not to move ... DON'T move. Move, when you talk to her and she points the gun away from you. That was really an easy puzzle man.

You can't ask for you're money back, while TTG teaches you some common sense. You should pay them extra money for increasing your survival chances in a bank robbery or hostage situation.

    Read a book.

Yeah it is an easy game, I only died once when I was in the barn and got shot but since it startled me but I did it the next time and past that point. I have yet to day at the Brenda part it is really easy if you move really slow. I played EP 3 three times and I have only died the once.

Wow.... just.... wow. Well I hope you never get a gun pointed at you, cause your a dead man. How is it that hard? I haven't died once in either episode. This is ridiculous! You don't go towards her when she's pointing the gun at you obviously. That was simply what I got from self preservation. Either you care WAY to much about Katja, or you don't know anything about how people work. Either way.... dumb.

I've seen alot of replies, some useful some others seem to come from smart****s.
In response to the useful ones this is whats going on: I advence towards her mm by mm always the cursor on her, at the very last millisecond I try to stop but the guy keeps going and gets shot, once and only once the option showed up, it was the 1st time and never again, even after the 100th attempt.
Yes I cleared the the HDD cache, redownloaded the entire episode, reload the last checkpoint and chose a different option BEFORE I get to the door, nothing seems to work (bad luck?).
Now in response to the useless replies, yes $5 is hard earned money, but I dont expect DR CRAZY to understand, he seems to live the high society life, he also lost my respect by "the best xbl game ever made", a real joke.
Ok Isterio, shes pointing a gun to my face, gonna stay put for what, 1hr.? perhaps, what do you think?.
And last but no less important, MR. NESSA"major league gaming"T, I do usually suck at games?, question: do you have MW3?, if so, I'm challenging you to a 1v1 match, maybe you right, will see.

If you have technical problems, you should inform TTG that it's a bug.

    @ your tone:

Yes, some people (like me) answer like smart"behinds". In my case it's because asking about money back and your tone make me believe that you're under 18 years old and shouldn't be allowed to play the game in the first place.

So you play MW3? That speaks volumes by itself. You pay a lot of money to buy that game, but you complain about the 5 USD for this one? I have no patience for such foolishness.

If you don't want people to reply, don't post in the forum. Write to TTG-Support directly.

It's Miss - and like I said, I suck at games - so if I can figure out how to beat this game, it shouldn't be a problem for you at all.

I died twice - once because I didn't stop when the bitch tells me to, and the other time because I called her one.

The generator threw me off for a bit - but other than that, it was easy peasy. 1/10 for difficulty! LOL.

I got shot by Brenda less times than I got shot buy Marauder Shields trying to save me from the ending.

    (Honor his sacrifice.)

Maybe following her verbal commands such as "Stop or I'll Shoot" and not using the combatative dialogue options will get you somewhere?

    This is ridiculous.
You DON'T have to inch by inch to her. You just stop when she points the gun at you and says "STOP." You don't wait for her to lower it, you click on her and talk to her and then she backs up.

It's really, really, easy. I only died at it because I called her a bitch. Any amount of money can be hard earned, but $5 is only 2 sodas, son. The cost of a hamburger and fries. Now that people showed you how ridiculous you were for demanding a refund, you have to challenge them to call of duty? You must be 14 lol, grow up! :o

A zombie could beat that part it's so easy, so what does it tell you that you still can't get it after 100 tries lol!

Agreed. Don't aggravate a hillbilly with a loaded gun, pretty simple.

Ok, ok, maybe I got a little over my head, but like someone here replied (with good reason) it's a very easy game, that's why probably i got mad, since that sole part of the game was the only one time I died...and a lot, but not once in the 1st. episode.
To be honest it's not about difficulty nor gaming skills, it was about the fact that I never got the prompt to talk my way out and save Kenny's wife.
Therefore I wanna apologize to you Miss NessaT, for a moment I got it all wrong, but like I said, is not about skills, specially in this type of game, no hard feelings.
To make long story short this is how it worked for me (and for those who do not receive the dialogue prompt):
    SPOILER;

After you open the stormdoor just walk, it does not matter how fast, all you gotta do is position the cursor on the Hag and frantically tap either X or B nonstop at all times while keep going towards her, since the cursor is always highlighted (it does not dissapear) it will give you the dialogue option at some point (preferably try to be nice or she gonna shoot your mouth), and that's all there is.
One last thing, I came over here or rather, I chose this Forums, because I thought it'll be different from Xbox forums, whereas 99,99% of replies are from those kind of aformentioned smart"rears",so if any one comes here for help (in a good way I might add), try to give a positive reply in your best way...
    thanx.

To be honest, I suspect a bug as well. I didn't get any clickable hotspots or dialogue options on my first 20 tries or so. Also, when being ordered to stop while looking at the barrel of the gun I immediately got my hands off the movement keys and didn't do a thing - and yet Lee still kept on walking forward and got shot about a second later.

I was getting pretty frustrated and angry back then, especially after seeing so many threads about the same issue here and in the Steam forums. However, after quitting and launching the game again resuming my game at that point it started to work as intended. Lee would now stop walking forward and allow me to click the hot spot on Brenda to talk to her. That did not work during my first few tries of that scene, I'm very sure of that.

    So yeah, I think it's a bug.

I didn't consider this a bug (PC version/Telltale build), but definitely not the most obvious design. I got killed about three times before I even found a hotspot on Katjaa and afterwards had some trouble finding it again after Brenda moves. A really careful approach worked eventually.
  • edited July 2012
I can't remember using a hotspot there. I was just walking forward, when she moved the gun away from me. And then it seemed, as if the dialogue came automatically. But I might be wrong. My memory is not that good. Anyway, it was quite easy/intuitive.

Don't be tough with the kid. At PC there's no bug at hostage's part but I heard about this bug when the lady point the gun towards you and you can't Lee makes stop in console versions, being always shot.

Calm down, guys, the episode was awesome but we need to respect each other and not always overact.

No, that's not true. I've played the PC version and had exactly this problem.

Even if you were to assume that I was too stupid to figure out what to do - ever AFTER looking up this issue on this forum and having read the solution it still didn't work as described. Even though I didn't press any buttons and didn't even move the mouse, Lee still got shot and there was no clickable hot spot to start the dialogue nor did the dialogue start on its own. It simply didn't work and yeah, I call that a bug.

After restarting and loading the save it DID work on my first try.

I don't know why I got it or how to reproduce the issue, but it IS there.
  • edited July 2012
It's true that there are some problems with this puzzle. I played it on the PS3 and sometimes Lee wouldn't stop right away when I wanted him too (I blame wonky analog sticks) and sometimes it was hard to find the hotspot in time before Brenda shoots you (she shoots you after a few seconds even if you stop). I died quite a few times on this puzzle because of those issues.

That said, when I died, I just did a quick google search to figure out what the issue was and once I knew what I was looking for, it became a very easy puzzle to solve. Maybe the OP should try that before immediately demanding his money back, next time. Unless he wants to grow up to be like Larry.

The Brenda bug IS a bug, without a doubt, the whole concept IS easy and not difficult to understand, what i can't understand is how people on this forum seem absolutely adamant that because they didnt have a problem there couldn't possibly be a problem with the game for someone else at this point.

It let me walk forward and stop twice, then after that there was no option to say anything, you walked forward bit by bit, and she would just shoot you when you got close enough. I rewinded my game slightly and made a couple of different choices and had no issue whatsoever.

If the reason she was shooting me was because i'd done the wrong things earlier in the chapter why would she let me walk forward and talk to her twice before doing it? She wouldnt, it's a glitch.

Again, this is not an issue with not finding the hot spot or not understanding you need to stop walking forward: sometimes there just is no hot spot, no dialogue and Lee keeps walking even though you don't touch any controls anymore.

    I'm not saying there's a bug, only it's hard. :D

There's people that it's not pressing the "forward" key and Lee keeps walking. Brenda shoots and game over.

    That's the bug!!
