40% is good and all, but I wouldn't call it a deal. Do you wanna know what is a deal? Mount&Blade for 2.49, Orcs must die for 3.49, Frozen Synapse for 4.59 etc. I spend like 20 bucks already during this summersale and got 5 kickass high quality games.

Steam sales are awesome, but I have the games I want already. And Max Payne 3 is still to expensive for me to get before my F.Aid comes in.

I bought it, literally, on July the 3rd. JUST 12 DAYS AGO!

So Steam has their summer sell goin on, TWDG is only 14.99.....the game isn't even fully out and people get a huge discount? I know that if you preordered you got the chance to be in the game....but come on! It's not like it's a year after the release of the entire series and the hype died down!
  • edited July 2012
Nope, It's a daily deal on steam. Some people will get it some wont. I don't get annoyed when people use in store credit to pre-purchase a game. It was our choice to buy the game now.

Why is it any of your business what others pay later?
Do you buy shoes you like in the store for $50 and 3 months later you see they give a discount and they are only $30 - do you go into the store and tell the how 'insulted' you are that someone got it cheaper than you? Stop being a douche.

Welcome to every item ever in the history of everything. It gets cheaper as time goes by!

I paid full price, had a great time and really felt I got my money worth. In fact, I'd be willing to chip in another 10 bucks if I can get episode 3 today!

Am I insulted that I got to play the first two episodes while getting insight from fellow players that couldn't spoil the game for me if they wanted to? No. Besides, I got it on Amazon for $20 when it came out.

For those who are upset, remember this is Probably Steams Idea... Not TTG. So vent in the right direction if you have to.

Well The OP didn't actively blame TTG for the sale just said it made him feel insulted.

It was more of a general reminder, than I direct reminder. hence why I didn't quote anyone.

It certainly is bad timing. Steam's influence on the pricing of "their" games explicitly doesn't do the good ol' Telltale Store a favor here, which had its fair share of mishaps this time 'round anyway. Things would have panned out far more satisfactory if TTG could have kept the original schedule. Episode 4 would almost be released right now, so a reduced price would have felt more natural in anticipation of an August finale.

Still, the fact remains - everything gets cheaper with time, contrary to even EA's present delusions. We've had at least two episodes before this Sale, you might consider this OK as an "early admission price".

I buy games that are on sale through Steam that are not at the top of my list. There are a lot of other people who do the same if they are On-The-Fence about a game. It is unlikely I would have bought it any other way. People can be insulted or vent on Steam..but the fact remains that there are TONS of additional sales going through for the developer that they wouldn't have made otherwise.

This actually helps the Developer, not hurts them. As long as it is for a limited time like what Steam does. What hurts any business is someone under-cutting them all the time. I have personally experienced this with some dumb business partners. They allowed a third party to sell our product at a steep discount all the time.

But I have games I bought on Steam that I have never even played. I just bought them because of the price.

I am just curious about The Number of Sales a game like this gets over day or weekend when Steam pushes it. I'm thinking it's Off the Charts! Too bad I can't get a company like Steam that can push low priced VODS. I have a feature documentary film about Haunted Houses for this Halloween season...I'm sure those slashed VODS (even if they were .50) could be off the charts...the number of sales justifies the low prices.

Yes, it DOES normally help the developer - generally. And I presume Telltale will be very satisfied with the sales here. It does threaten the dev's own distribution channel though: the battered Telltale store. As I just don't like Steam, I really hope that the Telltale website can counter with something special again for future games!

I'm not willing to "chip in" another bloody thing. I paid full price and I want my full product.

What a racket in which you have to bribe or chip in just for people to do their jobs. No wonder this country is rubbish. Oh...wait the team is out in Cali. No wonder they expect to get paid off little work...

That option isn't real. No wonder you're confused. I think they're just really excited. No wonder they want to spend more money.

    Confused? Me? Never that.

I know the option to "chip in" is not real. Its the principal of the thing. The fact that customers would even think that them "chipping in" would help them get the product that they already paid for.

As if the company needs further help to do the thing it promised it would do.

Hopefully, the delay will help the game. I realize they are off schedule but if you think about it, if they really wanted customer input into the game (and I stress IF) it was unrealistic from the start to put out another episode every month.

These episodes were fun but full of holes. Take the dinner and finding Mark.
The game blocked you from going back to the dinner table until you discovered Mark. This is unrealistic and silly at best.

The guy couldn't walk back in? Or back down the stairs because of some Invisible Barrier? They could have fixed that easy by allowing you to go back in, have dinner and then discovering the horrible truth right after. This would not have altered the arc of the story at all.
I hope they fix silly stuff like this and some of the more limited two answer and unrealistic choices in the game.

Sorry, did you try to re-enter the dining room? You're given a very good reason for the invisible wall.
