Leave Carley Alone

Lee should avoid any romantic or otherwise “close” relationship with Carly.

And in a nutshell here is why:

Carly already knows about Lee’s criminal past and can expose him at any time and on any whim. So she already has him by the balls. If they decided to get intimate she will then have him by the balls and the heart. She at anytime can make any choice she wants and will have to become number 1 priority to Lee trumping even Clementine. To make matters worse if they have a falling out then in her emotional rage or vengeance she may expose Lee’s past.

I hope the game gives Lee the option to become "close" with Carly, the romance drama would be ironically comforting in an otherwise hopeless time.

Lee should avoid any romantic relationship with Carly at all costs and keep her at a arms distance.

can i ask why you made a new thread when there is plenty of carley threads already...

    Sure.

I made this thread because I felt that the threads regarding a possible romance between Carley and Lee did not explore this particular avenue. Particularly the idea that a relationship with Carley would be bad. The other threads hinted at the idea that a possible relationship was in the works but not the consequences of said relationships. I felt it was unique enough to warrant a new thread.

I'll leave it to the German and his squad to make the last call on my threads merits.

and I'll leave it to you and your kind to critique it.

    just stating the facts

    your post contradicts it's self..

you say lee and carley shouldn't happen but you want it to happen ?!

    strange..

Sometimes I have trouble with English words. So I have to be very precise. To critic something means to be critical of it. To give an evaluation. To ask "Why did you do this, when this over here.." is to being critical of my thread.

The error is probably mine, English is tough for me. Like this for example. I plainly said that I think Lee should stay clear of Carley. And then in a new sentence I said that I hope to see the choice available. Confusing sentence I bet, especially when one skims. Saying "I think this should happen" while also saying "I hope I have a choice though" seems confusing at first. That's why I like to re read for clarity.

but only cause english is hard for me.

Also..can we stay on topic or did you want to make this personal? Help by contributing to the thread.

Is your plan to not trust the people you meet who are not trustworthy and not trust the people you meet who are trustworthy? Your making the ZA more challenging than it needs to be...not that it has not already pegged the challenge meter.

Lee and Carley are friends. You know how lust is..(did I say that out loud? I meant love) it just finds a way if it's meant to be.

I admit I'm confused by the first paragraph. How have I advocated not trusting people who are trustworthy and vise versa.

    No matter.

Well..I get what you mean about lust (love) but this is not a fairy tale, as you mention the ZA is challenging and we need not pretend that just because two people fall into love (lust) doesn't mean they will stay that way. There will be fall out.

Can't recall the characters names so I have to use adjectives but in the comics in the prison scene, the black football character and the white woman. When michonne came in and started sleeping with the football character, and the effect it had on the whole group in regards to how it affected the white woman. That was real.

I am suggesting the option to allow that to happen, for a relationship to blossom, and I am advocating that (in my play through) Lee not take that option.

I hear you and understand why you wouldn't take the option but my Lee probably would.

There needs to be at least some normalcy in the walker world that the group is forced to live in.

Besides, I believe with all he's been through Lee deserves to get himself some booty :)

I don't get the romance option. I get it that people want their character to have a romantic partner because that seems to be the status quo for most story driven/path creating video games these days. But Lee seems like the kinda guy who isn't really worried about romance when he's got a little girl to take care of. I mean love will come for the guy but it's only been 3 to 4 months(depending on where episode 4 starts off) does he really need to start looking for love when right now he's looking to survive?

But I do like your dea of Carley becoming emotional unstable due to her desire for Lee. It adds a drama card that could potentially be tapped. Also seems very reminiscent of Carol 's plight in the comics.

Maybe Lilly would be a better pairing for Lee. It's not like she's chopped liver right? She doesn't know Lee is a murderer and is already unstable.

We haven't actually learned the hole story about what happened with Lee and his crime. Yes, we do know he killed the guy who slept with his wife, he's been honest about that in the game. But we haven't got the full story. And I don't think he's unstable, if you compare him with Kenny for example. Like Carley said, him having to kill someone could prove to be a useful "skill".

When it comes to a future Lee/Carley - relationship, my personally opinion is that they reminds me of Rick and Andrea in the comic book series. She's a good shooter and develops a close friend-based relationship with Rick.

SPOILER ALERT (for those who haven't read the comic books)

Andrea and Rick also get more intimate with each other after Lori dies in the comic book series, and maybe it will come to that with Lee and Carley as well.

My thoughts though. Can't wait for the next episode to come out :-)

Either way the fallout could be devastating.

Booty call or otherwise for that time being Carly "ownes" Lee.

It's one thing to have a woman pissed at you, a whole other to have a woman with a gun that knows your killer past pissed at you. (of course assuming Lee or Carly moves on to new booty)

Exactly. I've not read the comics but I still know even a ZA can't stop lust (I mean love). A person can set out to avoid a relationship because it's the tactically sound thing to do but, ceiling Larry notwithstanding, this romance stuff just happens anyways.

Yep. All the more reason to throw it on in the game and for (my) Lee to stay the hell from between Carly's frothy soft legs.

I hear what you're saying but if and when they have a releationship this is over three months in I think all the people that you've spent time with in the group will trust you even if she does tell. Unless you've like killed everyone at every possible moment you can and they see that you do like to kill, then they will trust you.

    LOL, me too..

I let Carley die in EP1 so it's Doug or I may just have an affair with Kenny's wife.. not sure yet!

Seriously though, I wouldnt care if TT included some sort of 'romance' option as long as they give us the option not to!

The way I'm playing my game, im all about surviving and have no need to get romanitcle with anyone..

Maybe the finale of EP5, on Kenny's boat, i can toss Kenny overboard as shark bait, sail to a deserted Island and have my way with Katjia.. or Doug.. Still not decided!

Yup, like grab Duck by the scruff of the neck, use him as a shield!

Shoot Lilly in the leg and escape while the walkers rip her apart!

to op i will now get on topic ;)

i think carley should hook up with lee but in a way that is suggested /implied

    not actually seen/interacted with..

like we have a choice of accept her advances/make a move on her or we say thanks but no thanks or even an interuption moment aka like katjaa does in ep2 when travis/david returns..

as for the fallout, only if you choose to make lee an asshole to her then she could shoot you. as in ep1 you choose to trust her or not (i've done both, no difference yet...)

Maybe whoever we save out of Carly and Doug is who Lee tries to round the bases with.

Doug could have been hinting at that with the whole "i think you're a great guy" speech in the pharmacy. If this did happen I wonder how many people would rewind just to save Carly lol.

I, for one, am in full support of Lee being given the option to find romance with either Carly (first on my list for a majority of reasons, not simply because she "hawt") or other new characters introduced to the story over time. (*SPOILERS*) Due to Lily's "future role" in the main TWD graphic novel story, I don't much see the point in a romance.

Given that Telltale has confirmed they will be working on a "Season 2" for TWD game there isn't a huge rush, but it's a dynamic that should be introduced for the sole reason that it adds to the immersive "human" nature of the story. It's a proven scientific fact that situations of extreme stress or survival often lead to close bonds or a desire to connect "deeper" with someone, whether it be for the sake of trust or comfort.

In the graphic novels series, regardless of the seemingly endless tragedies which befall Rick, his companions or other characters, relationships of an intimate or sexual nature spring up fairly consistently. Even Robert Kirkman has chimed in on why he thinks it would be normal, even given the extreme circumstances.

One concession I will make to the OP is that I don't believe the romance should be "forced" or "sprung" onto Lee (i.e. us) There should be, overtime, clearly defined dialogue options which indicate Lee's interest in Carly. Even in episode 1 it's clear that, despite her attraction to Doug, Carly shows considerable interest in Lee. A response of "Thank you" when she informs Lee that she will keep what she knows about him to herself is greeted with a "blush smile." At the close of the episode, should she be saved, telling Carly that, "I chose you" illicits another similar reaction, and it's clear she's quite taken.

In Episode 2 there are several instances where it's clear Carly has thrown her full support/admiration behind Lee (if he's made certain choices) and the two even share a very personal moment at the end. One could say the writers are clearly laying the foundation for a romance (or for us to get close to Carly only to see her die horribly...) and that's fine; however, a "kiss" or "love" scene should *not* be sprung on us.

If Lee has made the kind of choices which has endeared Carly to him then during certain conversations give Lee the option to broach the topic. Ask Carly if she's "moved on" from Doug. Or even go so far as to have Carly mention her attraction to Lee in a roundabout manner, perhaps have her comment on Lee being an attractive man, yet don't have her just throw herself at him. Lee (and the gamer) should have the option to pursue a romance or choose not to; if the latter then I ask only that it not negatively impact Lee and Carly's friendship.

I would like to imagine Carly being mature and hardened enough by both her past (I personally believe she's *not* just a reporter) and the present to respect Lee's desire to not become too intimate and, regardless, that she chooses to remain his close friend and confidant if that's the relationship the player as chosen to foster overtime.

To summarize: Romance? Yes please, I feel it would make the game better. But make it optional? Without question, yes.

*sigh* With the threat of getting flamed for a genuine reason this time I really hope they don't go that route. I mean I know the developers live in California, and that state has long ago lost its mind in understanding of human anatomy and what parts fit with what, but please...PLEASE do no go that route with Doug.

It would be cool if Doug and Lee had like a buddy relationship with out getting sexually perverse, something to balance out the relationship that would have happened with Carly. And without the threat of Lee getting exposed.

I deleted several dozens of those requests of yours when threads were actually merged. The right way to do this is to dig out the actual former threads you were referring to, then post the links as a suggestion to the original poster and the mods. By employing this technique, you might even find that these threads you thought were about the same topic actually aren't.

After you've humbly suggested other threads with similar info, don't make a second post about it, because the ensuing discussion would immediately derail/ be off topic. Your second post should be either on topic or inexistent. We clear?

Yes, German I did. I would hope you would understand, but I suppose time wears thin some resolve eh?

I'm saying exactly what you think I'm saying.

But it's good to hear they won't be allowing the option to make Lee a sexual deviant. They should still allow Lee and Doug to get close, as real men form real mature relationships with each other, not this California crap they got going on.
