as i said man they coulda announce a 3 month release period id still would have paid its the fact they said a monthly releases and now up and say periodically releases thats borderline false advertising dunno about most people but that what will come back and bite a company in the ass....on that note 15 hours for 25 bucks is hella worth it.
I really could care less when the game comes out as long at it comes out every month or two. It's like a nice little treat once and a while. I like it. Anyways, It's worth the wait in my opinion.
yeah pretty much is considerin ive had plenty to keep myself busy i just nabbed up the season 2 dvd set so im watchin it till i get my episode god only know why it takes them so long to give us the pc version lol.
So you made a thread asking for thoughts and you complain about people sharing their opinion. What the fuck is the point of this thread if you're just going to toss peoples opinions to the side. I only had to pay 20 bucks and I think it's worth it. I have 6 hours + on each episode because I use all the 3 save slots for different choices. So it is worth it for me. 30+ hours of game play for 20 bucks? Fine by me.
The point in replies, my friend, is to reply. That's all I did. I didn't toss anyone's opinions aside.
Personally, I don't have a ton of money. A lot of you seem to, and you can throw hundreds at video games weekly and still come out fine- I can't. I try to only buy games that I will get 1$/hr of gameplay out of- Battlefield 3, skyrim (WAY more than that here.) and a few others, old and new. I took a chance with TWD, and I really like it. But with how long it is between episodes and the fact that, as a PC gamer, I was forced to pay 25 bucks up front, I feel cheated.
You may argue that you can swap up your choices to milk more hours out of it, but I really don't like to change my choices and replay it all just to see what happens. The point in games like this, IMO, is that you play the way you would in real life if it took place. (For others, it's different.) Changing it up sort of makes it lose it's value for me.
Thoughts?
ALSO- Trolls, and just plain angry people, keep your opinions to yourself, I do not want to hear them.
Well, if you are going hardcore mode, playing it as is; one time and one time only it's closer to 10hrs of gaming (roughly 2hrs to fully explore an episode the 1st time). There are other dialogue options to explore but nothing game changing- one playthrough based on what you'd think would be your r/l actions would be enough.
Journey cost me $15 and my wife and I played through it in 2 hours. I do not regret my purchase for a second. The game was amazing. Conversely, I bought Xenoblade for $50, spent over 100 hours on it, and also enjoyed it tremendously.
For me, the time-to-cost ratio is not what makes for a great game: it's the feelings the game elicits in the player. I can't put a price on emotions.
True, journey was fantastic. It's a bit pricey for a 2 hour game, but it's worth it, as it was simply magical. I hadn't experienced a game like that before. I agree that you can't put a price on emotions. I bought modern warfare 3 and only really played the campaign mode, which was only about 5-6 hours. It was £45, but loved every minute of it.
I spent much more than that to play video games for half the time during the arcade era. Think about the fact that an average movie costs $10 per head and $25 or more for popcorn.
Yeah, this is worth it. Keep in mind that you don't have to spend it all at once--it's over time as well. $5 for 2 hours entertainment (well for me over 5 because I'm always experimenting with decisions).
Also, given reviews and game rentals I don't usually buy video games. No one "really" plays bad games anymore, unless they really want to.
This game in many ways is as magical as the first time I played Dragon's Lair in the arcades. Revolutionary in some respects...they just need to ramp it up next season for enhanced re playability.
all this petty bullshit gets old after while, i'd say in the last month the forum has become 90% bitching and moaning, dupelicate threads, more insulting, bans. new members bringing up the same old crap monthly release blah blah blah, they said mid august ware iz mai gaem i wont eet NAO..
what did they say once mid august hit? haha
Anyway you guys are doing it wrong- you must feed off the hatred like the Emperor, feel it surging throughout you!
Most games nowdays come out at full price with campeigns that last 4 hours...
^^^ This.
For me this game is definitely value for money, even if I played it only once, and I don't regret a single penny I paid for it.
It's also a game that actually deserves to be called a 'mature' game and that's not because of the violence, gore and swearing.
For me the cost is worth the product because I enjoy it that much.
That being said, even though we have 3 save's I really have to force myself to replay the other 2 saves. The best part of this game is the first playthrough when everything is new and unknown. After that it's like reading a book you've already read. Sure you may enjoy it, but it's just not as good the second time around. Even if you make different choices, you get slight variations, but it's still the same story.
TBH, I kinda rather goto youtube and watch other people's first playthrough's of the episodes than replay them myself.
I agree with this to an extent. First playthrough are the most exciting but are also usually the most disatrous. My 1st time through Heavy Rain, 40 minutes into it I killed my closest friend while we were having tea or something in his living room, then I went to meet some lady by the docks in my car and instead of parking it I accidentally drove it off the pier, drowning her alive in the process and during my escape from all that I got arrested-thrown in jail, and my son died. I was so bad that 1st playthough I thought the CD would eject and refuse to play again.
Think of it like this: Costs about 10 to 15 bucks to get a ticket to go to the theatre to see a movie. Even think your risking it and most of the time it's not an emotionally deep story that you really care about. For the price of 2 movie tickets you get several movies worth of content with more of an emotional attachment than you get at most movies in the theatre today. That's my opinion.

Just out of curiosity, when did you buy the game? If you bought it recently, there should be a great amount of reviews by now that should give you an idea of what kind of game TWD is and what you can expect to get out of it. Even if you pre-ordered it, like I did, you can still get a good idea from looking at other games by TTG.
In any case, I don't believe you should measure games only by the number of hours you play. If that's the case, simulation games will almost always win because they technically never end. Also multiplayer games will almost always trump single player games, like TWD. Do you have any idea how many people have spent countless hours on Solitaire?
How much enjoyment do you get out of playing the same maps, using the same weapons, same tactics over and over again in FPS, MMORPG or RTS games? It's about quality vs quantity. With that said, I can understand if some people only play games to "pass time" and don't care much about the story or characters in the game.
Think of games like TWD more like watching a movie or TV series. The latter probably fit better as TTG games are usually broken into seasons and episodes not unlike TV shows. You may not play it over and over again like you would a FPS but what you get out of it should be worth more.
At the end of the day though, if you personally don't appreciate games like TWD, there is nothing wrong with that. You are who you are. Just be more careful about how you spend your precious money next time.
Why the obsession with quantity? People don't decide on buying film (tickets) based on how long they are, why do it for games?
You should be asking if the quality of the game is worth $25 with quantity taking a tiny part in that, not one of the focal points.
Also I like my games short with potential replay value, long games just seem too much. Makes it seem they weren't focused enough on quality and suffered feature creep. Plus some don't have time for 50+ hour games.
The game has a nice amount of replay with a straight-up playthrough time of 15+ hours for $25.
Mass Effect 3 was 60 dollars for 25 hours of gameplay. The first single player DLC pack was 10 dollars for 25 MINUTES of gameplay. In fact, all of their expansion packs are.
And don't get me started on Dragon Age II. (I actually don't have that much to say since I bought it for ten bucks and skipped the DLC, but theoretically...)

25 dollars worth of 15hours of gameplay and a very dark storyline is pretty much worth it.
I personally got it for 20dollars at the steam sale.

I salute, thank and applaud Telltale for that.
