Do you think Clementine's mother could still be alive?

edited September 2012 in The Walking Dead
I say "mother" rather than "parents" because it's implied that her father was infected.

What do you think?

Could lead to a rather awkward/interesting situation if they ever find her.

What do you mean her father was infected? Please explain.

I think they might find her. I'm really curious so I told Clem that we are going to look for her parents.

The messages left on the answering machine imply he was bitten.

I think we will see only her mother and perhaps 1 of Lee's parents.

Hell no, I think that she's dead and this man on the walkie has been feeding Clemmy Clem a pipe dream from day one... He probably knows everything about Lee in my play through because I've been so honest with Clem. It's creepy and I want to take a shower

Depends if he was bitten , Clem's mum said her dad had a run in with a crazy guy, which does imply it was a walker but these games have a way of twists so it could of been a walker could of been someone scared to death from the walkers,
I'm really keen to know who this mysterious person is Clem has been talking to , We see the shadow of him after Lee is after him , Really interesting,
and Yes i do think her parents are alive ,

If she is alive and turns up in Episode 4 or 5, it could make for a really interesting dynamic. Who has the last say, Clem's mother - who has largely been absent during the zombie outbreak - or Lee, who has been there for Clem every step of the way (at least during my playthrough)?

Perfectly valid stance, you make a good point that your honesty with Clem could cause you problems if she blabbed about your past.

Can't wait for Episode 4 to potentially find out :D

Well her dad is diff dead from the answer machine Clems mother said they was attacked by a strange man and had to take her dad to the hospital. I dont remember if she said he was bite or not???

But I think her moms might be alive thats the only way a strange man could know about her but then again Clem has been talking to this person as long as the walkie talkie was fixed.

I really doubt that, back in the second episode, the survivors pulled out Lee's parents bodies of that back room, in the pharmacy.

I mean, he could be useful actually. the trailer for the next episode; he tells Lee to get out of the street due to a near by danger. he also seems to be comforting Clem. who knows? damn it. another 2 months are so before we find out .___.

Could Clems mom be alive? Maybe it's all depending how you act with Clem which determines how long her mom survives. Hidden unrelated "flags" in the game records how and they determine Clem's Mom's survival skills as well as Clem's . But honestly from a non game perspective

Consider any characters we've met in the game. Could they still be alive? for some the answer is "yes" for others "they were."

I told her it was OK to tell her mother about Lee's past.

She will probably stop me from seeing here thinking I'm dangerous :(

Well it is her mothers prerogative. Maybe she'll give you weekend visits.

It's definitely possible that she's still alive! :)

...well, alive-ish. Not much in the conversation department, but man what a hugger.
  • edited August 2012
Also, shouldn't we consider the Mental state Clem's mom could be in if she is alive? She could be perfectly fine, but she could also be a wreck like Jolene.
I mean, it's implied her husband was bitten, so dead husband or zombie hubby.
Next, it has been 3 months since the start of the apocalypse, who knows what has happened to her?
Finally, wouldn't she be constantly worrying about Clementine? I mean, she has no idea if she is alive or not, for all she knows she could be right there in the house, dead.
    Just some thoughts

Or maybe she'll fall in love with you for protecting Clem and the three of you ride off into the zombie filled sunset as one big happy walker killing family! lol

I tend to think that Clem's mother is dead. The answering machine messages did not sound good, at all. I just re-played Episode 1 to re-listen to them, also at the end of Episode 1 when Glenn is listening to the radio, you hear the announcer say Savannah Stage 9 catastrophe. If she really is alive, I'd be shocked.

On a side note, isn't there somewhat of a short range on walkie talkies? So whomever she's been speaking with has been within range in order to communicate with her and Savannah, where her parents were, would be way too far away for walkie talkie communication.

When I first played ep 2 I thought Jolee could be clems mother. I don't know why it was just somthing she said. I almost shot her. Plus she did have clems hat.

As for the guy on the radio, it is hard to beleive that the radio could reach a long distance. We know at the end of ep 3 that clem has been talking to this guy for a while. Could Chuck be in on this somehow? Or has Glenn turned to the dark side? He did leave with the other radio. Also what does this person want from clem or our group?

I guess we will find out in a month (or two)

I really don't think she's still alive. But then, in The Walking Dead, I just kinda assume that nobody is still alive.

I'm having trouble working out the radio thing, though. It isn't somebody in Savannah who has been talking to Clem all this time. First of all, the radio can't possibly reach that far. Secondly, the second radio was never in Savannah - it was with Glenn. What happened to it after that? Does anyone remember? If somebody really has been talking to Clem all this time, they've been doing it from close by.

I also think Diana, if she's still alive, could be in a very unstable state of mind and body, especially when one considers what Lee says to Clem in the trailer concerning the situtation in Savannah, that's it more dangerous than he thought. Also, I'm wondering if the stranger Clem's been talking with has anything to do with the some members of the group od bandits that killed (and probably raped) Jolene's daughter. She said that she had killed them all, but who knows, maybe it's an "associate" of theirs ?

No, I think there's more than enough crazy to go around and the Savannah nut is an independent.

If Clem's mom is alive, she's had to develop some survival skills and would no doubt want to know the fate of her daughter just as much as Clem wants to find them. In which case, she's not in Savannah.

No it said Atlanta stage nine which makes him want to go there to help his friends

About the Walkie-talkie range, everyone keeps assuming Clem's been talking to this guy the whole three months+ but it is just as likely she's only been talking to him for a few days. It doesn't take long to earn a little kids trust especially if they think you have something they want, you save their life (look at Lee, should she have gone with him? Not really, she knew nothing about him.) or they think you know someone they already trust.
  • edited August 2012
No, I think that they're dead. This story is way too bleak for them to be around.

There is a very good chance, I think that Clem's parents (or just one) are encountered as walkers, and Clem's response is horror, then resolves to kill them and put them out of their misery.

Personally, I would write it in that Clem's first walker kill is her mother and then her daddy.

That would fit the bleakness of this story.

Well, that one woman in Macon survived all this time, and her survival skills seemed pretty atrocious to me. Dumb luck? But speaking of Macon, Kenny described it as "hell on earth" where the few remaining humans are dead or dying slowly. And Lee and Kenny have only been making periodical runs into town, probably coming close to death's door a dozen times over. Clem's mom, I think, would have been trapped in the city from the sounds of the last message if she's alive at all. By some miracle, if she is, her mental state is probably somewhere around the Jolene stage at best if she's been living in "hell on earth" for 3 months straight. I don't even think the group (or what's left of it) should have gone to Savvanah anyway, ESPECIALLY for Clem's parents.

So, in light of the tens-of-thousands of walkers, low supplies, our wounded man, Kenny's instability, and the crazy guy who wants to get ahold of Clem, what are the odds we could even find her parents in that mess? Hell, the boat itself is already a pretty miniscule chance without some suicidal rescue mission pulling us away from this crazy plan.

That would be a pretty good twist and the ultimate test of survival for her.

Remembering the phone message in the second scene I believe that Clem's mum tells her that her daddy was attacked "by some crazy guy" and had to go to the ER. So it's pretty safe to assume that he was bit and is a walker by now.

Damn, me too. I never eally thought she could be feeding that creep information until just now. Oh shit...

The likelihood of her parents still being in the same place after several months of chaos, noises to follow, and other survivors attacking is way too slim to justify. Plus having to shoot your mom is pretty hackneyed. I don't think Telltale's going to do it.

Clem having to shoot the radio guy? Far more likely.
  • edited August 2012
All I can say is very unlikely. Thing about it. If her husband was bitten. Don't you thinks the odds she would be close to him would be high. Which greatly increases the chances that she too was bitten by him. And if not by him, I doubt she could have survive in Savannah. The zombie apocalypse isn't that kind.
  • edited August 2012
We will see her perhaps at the last episode and nearly the end where the achievement get called
    "What's in the bag?

I don't think her parents are alive or as has been stated, if they are, they are not likely in Savannah. Their response would be to try and get to Clem if they are good parents. But I question that by their willingness to leave her alone with a babysitter for extended periods of time....
