Lee's secret, who did you tell? - Episode 3 [Spoilers]

edited August 2012 in The Walking Dead
So, who did/didn't you tell? What was your logic in deciding? Did it pay off or come back to bite you in the ass later?

Personally, I told everybody. I would've told Duck too if the game had allowed it. XD Generally speaking, I prefer honesty in all situations. It's up to people to make up their own minds whether or not they like what they hear, either way at least it's the truth and it won't come up as a nasty surprise later.

Everyone took it well. Katjaa seemed a bit worried and Kenny flat-out told me that if it came down to limited group numbers on his boat, this would affect his decision and he may leave me for dead, but he still appreciated my honesty. You're welcome, cunt. <3

Kenny mentions the importance of being honest with each other later on when he tells Lee about Duck being bitten by a walker. Did anybody choose to not tell Kenny about Lee's past? If so, does that have any impact on how Lee finds out about Duck being bitten?

    I told everyone.

I think Kenny had a better reaction to the info in my play-through, if I understand what you said correctly.

same here. Hey its the end of the world, wtf are they gonna do? call the cops on me?
I told everyone that asked about my past, even that nosy old farmer from Ep1

Kenny looked really surprised when I told him, but he said we were cool. I told everyone except Ben, since I didn't trust him at all. I had already told Clem, but just in case I made it clear to her.

I also want to know what happens when you don't tell people, because so far there's no repercussions for telling people.

I only told Clem. On my other playthrough I told everyone. doesn't seem to matter

Interesting. I assume you were on Kenny's good side going into Episode 3? I wasn't. :)

Now I think of it, he also asked if Duck would be safe around me. And Lee was all like "OMGWTF, dude?! Yes!"

I couldn't tell anyone as I had saved doug back in ep 1.

Lily already knows. If you don't tell her, she will bring it up after killing Doug / Carley and tell everyone. If you don't tell Kenny, he will be pretty pissed off.

I told everyone apart from Ben - I thought he was acting suspicious from the moment I returned to the Motor Inn.

    I told everybody.

Everybody. Kenny actually didn't care. He even said "I dropped a 50 pund block of salt on a guy's head. It doesn't matter who we were, man." I was so shocked that I told Kat just for her reaction.

Just Clem and Kenny for me. I decided to be honest with my closest people. Carley already knew ofc. So that left the two of them. I know some people might not think it appropriate to tella little girl, but it's a different world post-zed.

I'd been pretty anti-Lilly at that point. I thought Katjaa would react adversely (cause she's got Duck to look out for, and seems pretty conservative), Ben is the new guy and I never really trusted him (for good reason as I later found out)

Told everyone, gave Clem what I precived as a softer version, not stating Lee was a murderer but confirming that he killed a man before the apocalypse. Told Katjaa what went on in the meat locker as well.

Ben and Kenny had good reactions.

I told Lily and Clem. Carly already knew, so that left Ben and Kenny + family. Ben seemed kind of on edge and I feel like I didn't know him that well so I didn't tell him, and Kenny...well, Kenny's priority is his family (and I don't blame him) and I was a bit worried he was going to (understandbly) flip out, particularly as I'd been mainly siding with Lily beforehand. I would have told Katjaa, who I like and trust and think would have been okay with it, but I figured if I told her it'd just get straight back to Kenny. Lily and Clem took it well (Clem knew I'd done a bad thing already but I hadn't told her it was murder).

I apologised to Kenny about not telling him later in the train. He was okay with it and said I'd already given him enough personal info, since I'd already told him about Lee's parents being the people who ran the drug store.

I told everyone of the assembled team, and they were pretty OK with it. The new guys however, I didn't tell. BUT I told Clem she could tell her parents. :o

I told Clem (before I hadn't told her as straightforward as was probably needed) and Kenny. At first I was mad because he said "Don't think this won't come up when we're deciding who to let on the boat", but then he had my back when Lily tried to Exposition Bomb me out of the water. I feel pretty good about my choices.

I told only the ones I trusted. That would be, in addition to Carley, Clem, Lilly and Kat. They all took it well and seemed okay with the info.

Come to think of it...Kenny does not know and neither does Ben...even at the end of e3. Christa, Omid and Charles don't know either. Hmmmm...secret may be safe after all.

You can choose to tell the new guys?

Sort of...the option where you say something to the effect of " I was on my way to jail three months ago" when you first meet the couple.

Think so, I saw the option. Obviously I didn't though, because meeting new people and opening with the line "I'm a murderer" right after saying "we're friendly" seems somewhat counter-productive.

Same, I didnt tell anyone. Just have to deal with it. Kenny was a lil upset I didnt tell him, but we're pal's, been choosing to side with him from the start so i'm not too concerned!

Kenny isn't a cunt, people just assume him one because most of them stopped siding with him during EP2 and he didn't treat them nicely after that, which should go without saying anyway. When you really are on Kenny's side all the time, the only time he acts a dick towards you are when you tell him to stop the train while he's in denial.

EDIT: Forgot about the actual point of the topic.

I told Kenny because I knew he wouldn't take something like that too badly, Clem because she already kind of knew it and Katjaa just for good measure.

    Everybody but Kenny...

However Kenny told me about Duck's bite in the RV and afterwards I think Kat told him as he mentioned it in a positive way
  • edited August 2012
I told Carley it was a stupid idea but I ended up telling everyone anyway after giving it some thought. Better to have done it than deal with a bombshell.

Here's the thing. I didn't tell Clem at the start of episode 3, because I figured that she didn't need to know, until she was old enough to understand. At this point in the episode I didn't know if I could trust Kenny. Things got very heated when I didn't side with him at the end of episode 2. I figured that maybe Kenny would use it against me later on. So I told Katja, as I trusted her. Of course I didn't tell Ben. I didn't know him well enough, as he was the newcomer in the group. I told Lilly as we were on good terms, after I helped save her dad. She told me that even though her dad knew the secret, I still tried to save him. So she took the news well. (I wish I didn't now as she killed Carly, that b***).
The thing is after Katja, and Duck dies, if you talk to kenny, you can say "About my past....". Kenny just says that it doesn't matter now. So yeah maybe Katja did say something to him?
So the 3 who I told about my past are gone now. Although later in the episode, Clem still finds out, even though I didn't tell her at the start of the episode. Maybe she overheard? I told Clem that she can tell her parents.
So Clem and possibly Kenny are the only ones who know about my past now.

I only told Clem and Kaatja. Clem was cool, Kaatja was on the fence for a second then told me that she trusted me completely. Then we bonded telling each other that we're the most honest and trustworthy people we know and the world is a strange place and basically talked about how awesome and pure-hearted we are, yadda yadda.

Then she cried when I told her Kenny killed Larry and said the world was all topsy turvy now but thanked me for being honest.

Kenny later loses his mind for me not telling him and asks if I'm safe around Duck but Kaatja gets my back because we're down like that.

Ben freaks out, though. Not that I care, shut up Ben.

When I tell Clem not to tell her parents she says, "You can't tell me what to do!" Which would have pissed me off if she weren't so adorable saying it. Aw, that kid is going to be the end of me...

    ...

    No, wait, she probably will.

They both took it pretty well.

I told everybody. And everybody was pretty much cool with it.
But after I told Kat, she wanted to know what happened back at the St. John's farm when me (Lee), Kenny, Lily, and Clem were locked in that freezer.

I told her what Kenny did while I (Lee) was trying to save Lily's dad.

I then went back to Carley and told her I let everyone know. She was happy. Gave me (Lee) a kiss on the cheek even.

I told everyone. I planned to not tell Ben or Duck but I did tell Ben, I would have told Duck as well if it was possible. I also told Christa and Omid later in the game, I don't know if you could tell Chuck?
  • edited August 2012
Who asks you to reveal the secret if you've saved Doug in episode 1?
  • edited August 2012
Doug I suppose lol would be the only option if no Carly.

I told everyone, didn't matter. Ben was like WOAH cool you're a badass.

Pity nothing matters in these games though.
  • edited August 2012
Stop with the nothing matters crap, please. Just because you couldn't save the damn Carley doesn't mean the world ends and the game's choices do not matter.

How could Doug make you tell the truth when he doesn't know about it?
  • edited August 2012
My secret was safe ( well Clem always knew since Episode1!! ), no one otherwise knew, but that idiot Lily blurted out that I was a murderer to Kenny after she shot Doug in the back of the head. She killed my bro AND spilled my secret?! I had to leave the whore.

I had talked to Clem prior, but had not told anyone until Carley had said I should. Out of the group, I evaluated I only needed to tell Kenny. He seemed like the only one whom it may matter to if it came up later, and he himself would tell Kat anyways.

Doing this put Lily in an amusing spot when she was trying to oust me in front of the group before I ditched her butt on the side of the road. I think Kenny hopefully will trust me more because of me telling him.
  • edited August 2012
i'll guess you can only tell them if you chose carly over doug cause i don't remember having the option and lilly eventually said it in the scene when Kenny is trying to "unstuck" the walker from the rv. (saved Doug)
  • edited August 2012
Clem already knew. I told Kenny and Katjaa, but it didn't occur to me to tell Ben and I totally forgot about Lilly, which was just kismet because evidently she already knew and that blew up in her face like great big raspberry. :p

Larry's parting gift. From him to you.

I think I'll definitely have to do a replay with Carley after the last 2 episodes are out as we never really got any chance to confess. I wonder what we had instead of this in the Doug world.

After Lily outed me in front of everyone I did tell Omid and Christa that I was on my way to prison. They didn't seem too fussed surprisingly.
