so do i, it's a fact that children cant act, they don't have the emotional maturity to do anything other than what they are told to do, and they do that the way they would do it
Completely agree with you. Children are not so mature to feel that emotions and to act them properly. Plus, their age don't allow them to do the voice acting for this kind of game.
This was actually talked about at the Playing Dead Live panel at PAX. They wanted to use a real child actor for Clementine, and auditioned several of them, but none were quite right. Meanwhile, they had Melissa Hutchinson, who they felt nailed exactly what they were trying to do with Clementine (not whiny, didn't sound too smart for her age in that annoying way, etc.), but struggled with it because they didn't want to use an adult. In the end, they decided it was for the best to go with her.

"ok kid picture the scene, your trapped in a meat locker with a bunch of screaming adults. Old man larry has just had his head smashed in with a salt lick and brain matter and blood are pooling on the floor, while his daughter cries over his mangled body. Here are some stills from the game to help you get into the right frame of mind. Now ACTION!"
I think the voice actor is good. I never guessed she was an adult until I read about it. Besides the subject matter as was mentioned above, Im not sure an 8 year old could really pull off all the nuances of the part. There are some good child actors but, voice actors? I dont know. They've done a good job with all the casting so far.
I assumed it was an adult, or a teenager experienced in voice-acting since this isn't the kind of thing you'd want to hand off to an 8 year old who'd never done voice acting before.
That said, the actor doing Clem's voice is doing a fine job. In fact, the acting all around is as good as in any game I've played. It's rare when there's a weak line reading, though Kenny's heehaw accent is a little over the top.
Well, the game itself doesnt look any too hot. But he's Hurley in Los Via Domos? Hahaha. I own that game eventhough I havent finished it or gotten very far in it at all in truth. He sings too. Voice acting must be an amazingly fun job.
However....I predict that Clem will be dispatching her now-Walking-Dead mum in the next episode. I wouldn't necessarily be expecting a child actor to do THAT voice over.

Yeah--effort is definitely made to limit a child actor's involvement or awareness. The young daughter in the series *Mad Men* has noted that she's not allowed to watch much of the program.
I'll be interested if she's ever interviewed in five or ten years in what she thinks of the show once she finally watches it. I wonder if she'll be at all shocked or surprised by some of the plots and themes she was involved in.
Heh. I dont know. Its on my list of half-finished games that I promised myself I would complete someday but Im not exactly chomping at that bit with that one.

But voice acting is different to actual acting is it not?
There are few actors that do both well. Hank Azaria is one example, and even Mark Hamill is another. Although with the later it could be argued he was a 'one show pony'
Heck, I'm still patiently waiting for The Walking Dead to come to the pc in the United States!
Have you ever made a post about what your problems are with the game? I haven't run into a problem I couldn't fix with a google search and six seconds of effort. You try to make it sound like ten thousand people bought the game and zero have successfully run it. I've ran it on three computers and can refer you to a forum full of others who have run it on their own computers too.

I'm not "trying to make it sound like" anything it isn't. so unless you'd like to get into a conversation about how "it sounds like you're desperately covering your ass" do spare me the snide imputation.
What I do in a given episode does not carry into the next episode. The game asks if I want nonetheless to have those choices I didn't exercise (even though I did) randomized so that I can continue. The screen won't let me proceed to the next episode unless I click yes, whereafter all of the choices it's possible to make in a given episode are randomized, and even the minimal carryover we've come to expect doesn't occur. A character I let die is miraculously alive. A character I scrupulously cultivated treats me like a mortal enemy. And so on.
You know the drill.
Don't take this the wrong way, but after all the problems people have had with this game, it sounds perfectly idiotic to write "I haven't run into a problem I couldn't fix with a google search and six seconds of effort." No one's buying that.
Sorry, I always sound this way. But I assure you I'm being genuine and trying to help. I haven't had a single problem on my computer, my girlfriend's computer had a bit of a problem and lost save files on the second playthrough but I salvaged it with a quick workaround. Your problem sounds different than mine though.
You can't fault me for my hyperbole when you've said the things you have. I spent closer to 15 minutes working out my issues, that's the truth. To mirror your own post though, no one's buying your point that tens of thousands of people bought this game and none of them have a working copy.
I know it's the fault of Telltale's that your copy isn't running the way it should, but have you tried another computer? It's really some murky voodoo between one computer and another that makes some saves keep and others not. I'd rather you be able to play the game and be on the same page as us when we say "X sucks" and "Y makes this game terrible".

lame joke
(sarcasm) Any time someone disagrees with me or doesn't like the same thing that I do. Its obvious man.... Hater!!!
Good call.. Also, there has to be a lot of restrictions with what can and can't be done when it comes to child actors/actresses.
Awesome insight! Thanks!
"um boss the kid won't stop crying."
"perfect! Record it!"
Who are "they"?

Whats the problem here Red?
I don't care how old the person is as long as they do a good job

I suddenly wonder what his normal voice sounds like.

Ugh. His work in Bakugan is worse. Way worse.
