Was Ben lying all along?

edited October 2012 in The Walking Dead
Hello everyone.

I’ve been wondering if Ben had been lying about pretty much everything since he joined the group. This is a survivor’s analysis so it may seem delusional but as a survivor I’ve been through a lot of emotions and stress.

First of all, when his teacher (or his friend, depending on the choice) is brought back injured at the camp, he doesn’t mention that either his friend/teacher could turn, and potentially wreaking havoc at the inn. He only does so after the fight, when two people could have been bitten.

Lee and Chuck’s mother almost got killed fighting either guy on the flatbed truck. Yet, e fails to warn us that, even if you die of natural causes, (here, blood loss) you will turn into one of them.

In Episode 3, he lies about the flashlight while you’re talking to him.
Yet, again, when you get back to Lilly and bring back the bag full of supplies, the bandits raid the Inn and he doesn’t even stop them or raise the alarm, even though he was on an elevated position and all other guys have handguns when he has a rifle with a scope on it.

He doesn’t take part in getting those drugs either, only Lee and Kenny risk their lives searching for those supplies.

He makes up the story that the bandits hold a friend of his, or something. This, in my opinion, is a dubious argument because he had no proof whatsoever that his friend was alive. Still he chose to trust them and by doing so he’s risking the lives of all the other back at the Inn.

Well, to be fair, he does seem to be shocked that the survivors do NOT know about it. I think he just assumed they did.

    Also, Chuck's mother? =V

I think it would be interesting if he turned out to be a compulsive liar.

She looks pretty good for Chuck's mother ;)

Well Ben doesn't necessarily know his teacher/friend is going to die, and is probably in shock.
As DreadMagus said, it is also possible that he assumes everyone knows already.

We don't know how /everything/ went down.
Yeah, he lies about the torch.
He could have been threatened, and told not to tell anyone about the deal.

He wouldn't stop them from getting closer, he's the one leaving the supplies for them, and they have to come right up to the wall to collect.

The bandits could have signalled Ben to come down, seeing there was nothing there, and used him as a hostage, so none of the others would try anything as they force their way in.

You know, something just occurred to me.

His group knew of the bandits before meeting our group. It's possible this is a deal he had setup before Episode 2 played out.

I hoe not. :(. I thought he could possibly part of the group, which is why I didn't tell him about lee's past. Anyway, those bandits probably haven't survived, so don't know what he would be able to do now.
