You have just entered The Walking Dead and you need a weapon.

edited November 2012 in The Walking Dead
What is your weapon of choice? Can be anything to a simple stick to an RPG. Can be ranged or melee, but keep in mind you only have the one and once it's gone its hand-to-hand combat for you, a new weapon is not an option in this scenario so make it count. Keep in mind if you choose a ranged weapon you can re-supply but depending on your choice, it might be difficult to locate. Also give your current location as that can factor in to what is available around you.

For me I choose the simple steel crowbar. Light weight and versatile. I am currently residing in the east coast of Canada, but really a crowbar can be found just about anywhere.

I think I'd opt for either a hatchet or a hammer. Both small, one handed and easy to swing in narrow spaces. And, obviously, the hatchet for hacking and the hammer for bludgeoning. Brains wouldn't stand a chance!

I currently have both in my cellar as I live above a pub!

    Machete, good for most situations

Fire axe. It can take walkers easily enough, and can be handy for breaking into an area for supplies that was barricaded in the opening days of the outbreak.

    Like Final Fantasy IX?

I hear good things about trench spikes. If I can get any I want, I'll take the ones they had in Naruto.

    A good, solid crowbar.

Blades can get stuck in bone or wood.....

its actually quite hard to crush a skull and destroy a brain, it would get you tired killing more than one

I don't believe you have to totally destroy the brain. Make it stop to function should suffice, and blunt weapons are great to achieve that.

I guess, I'd aim for a one handed axe (blunt and blade combines), any one handed blunt weapon, a hatchet/machete would be ok too.

I'd say it would be good to keep your offhand free, as to bring the walkers into position.

Actually, I was thinking more of the utility of the tool. :D

If I'm in a ZA, combat is not my first choice in any situation.

And if I have to fight, I'm gonna knock it aside and run. :D

    I pick Charlotte :)

Something medium to long-range, silent, reusable, preferably able to take out a group, that's what's ideal but no such weapon exists. I think we had this conversation before and I said that you need 3. 1 long-range, 1 short-range and one multi-target.

1 crossbow (you'll have to get the bolts back)
    1 sword
Petrol and matches (for massed herds)

And I'd throw a screwdriver in there too, swords are no good in confined spaces.

im safe for the most part if there was a zombie apocalypse, I can simply hide in the wearhouse that my family runs, no windows big sliding doors, awesome :)
Honestly my biggest concerns would be living in a big city (Houston) and finding food

AR-15(Good Ole 5.56) Living in Texas I have found there is at least one in every neighborhood so rounds are aplenty at any sporting good store and magazine capacity gives me the option to take down a crowd that is attracted by the first shot.

My breath. Its most effective in close range engagements. When I wake up it can also be used in long range situations.

This. There would be very few moments when I would actually be trying to kill a walker, in most cases I'd slip by or run away, and a crowbar would wourk fine in knocking a walker down if not killing it, plus it would be useful as the actual took it's meant for :P. Worst case I'm trapped with one use the straight end as a stabbing weapon straight to the eyeball.

But what if you meet a Bandit and he starts shooting at you? don't forget walkers aren't the only enemy

Fair point, but if I choose a gun I need a steady supply of ammo, or else I'm weaponless, and where I'm at the only place I'd be able to get more ammo is the police station but I bet your ass when shit hits the fan that will be one of the main places people would go. I live in a small town and it's rare that anyone around here has guns aside from the duck and deer hunters around :D. Downside is I don't know any personally so still, no gun. I guess I got an old shotgun in my basement with no ammo but still if I need to only choose one weapon it's not gonna be something that is limited like a gun. Guess I'll run for my life or hide till they come close :D. They can run out of ammo too and if they have half a brain they won't just shoot aimless at me in cover wasting their precious ammo, and if they are dumb enough then I'll wait till their out!

If it was a complete fiction where I could use and find any kind of weapon probably a pump-action shotgun but if it was something more realistic I guess I would go for a Glock 17,the same gun featured in the game(See the gun Clementine is holding on the trailer of Episode 3).My mom actually has one for practical shooting matches and I've shot with it a few times years ago.

yeah, and in this game and in many other media they portray it as far too easy. Human skull has around the same resistance as a coconut. And then theres also the question how much of the brain you need to destroy and its ofcourse a moving target, you can glance off the side/get stuck, etc.

my weapon of choice would be some sort of warhammer or war-pick they used in medieval times to crush skulls underneath a helmet.

sturdy, wont get stuck, and best to bash heads.

I like the chinese hook sword. Good for knocking them back at short range, or hand to hand. If it were long range, I'd find another way around.

Whatever the hell Molly was using. That pick axe was good for stabbin skulls and as a tool for escaping like using it to climb or jump across building lol

    .22 rifle with a scope.

Silent enough not to attract walkers, long enough range to keep my hands clean, and common enough so ammo isn't a problem.

(.22's are easy to come by).

    ;)

A small crowbar, perfect as a tool and it can be used as a weapon. There is probably a better choice, but I can't think of one.

A fireaxe. Usefull for killing walkers and can smash open locks ,chains...

This may be a weird thing to say, but I would want a crowbar, and hey I have one right beside me right now!
  • edited October 2012
Crossbow like Daryl's from the TV show. You are silent, can kill the walkers from a distance before they get close enough to bite you, and you can pull out the arrows as you finish, so you don't run out of ammunition quite so easily. That makes it better than a knife, blunt weapon, or a gun.
