WTF

I checked all my episode stats, and i was always on his side...

Just make sure to tell him that Clem is your family.

yes, but he only helps you because you helped his family, not because you're his friend, he lost most of my respect in this episode, and Omid Chrstia gained much!

I did help his family every time possible >.>

Hah I didn't even side with him in the meat locker, and still got everyone to follow me including Ben. Important to pick the "family" dialogue option.

Did you save Ben or let him die? I got similar results to you & found if I let Ben die he wasn't as mad & came. Also if you mention family & save Ben he still comes; just reluctantly. Shame I really wanted a natural save & now I'm going to have to play Ep 5 through twice seeing as I was pissed Kenny didn't come.

I saved Ben, he moaned about it now i mentioned the family but he came anyway.

Im really curious how ep.5 will turn out with so many different possible startups.

I hope TT doesnt screw it up by making just some minor bullshit changes according to the ppl with you.

Kenny was an asshole to me too, even though I've had his side on every decision - saving Duck, backing up Duck, killing Larry, abandoning Ben in the school. And he says I've been looking out for myself? I've been making decisions to try and keep the group strong. I even took Lily along despite her murdering Carley, because I thought the group would be better off with her than without her. What he said just didn't make sense.

Still, I've grown to despise the character now, I first turned against him quite heavily after he attacked me on the train, and since then I just haven't liked him at all. Telling him to fuck off was quite satisfying.

I ended the game with Omid and Christa and that was fine by me, those were the only two sympathetic characters left (besides Lee and Clem, of course).

You have to reason with him in Episode 4. He's an emotional wreck.
  • edited October 2012
Kenny pretty much says this about Molly if you have a dialogue after saving him from the zombies in the 2nd act: "So? What has she done for me lately?"

That's Kenny. He only cares about what you've done to help him LATELY. That's his personality. But he also appreciates family and he tells you over and over how family is the most important thing, so that's how I won him over.

He's not really subtle about what it takes to get him on your side. Either agree with him all of the time or make emotional appeals to family.

Thank you for this. I have a policy of not rewinding because I plan to do another playthrough once all five episodes have been released, where I make the opposite choices. But I rewinded for this. I want to keep Kenny for as long as possible because, even though I don't like him, that is the path I've chosen.

I just went back and I chose the family option and, lo and behold, Kenny accepts I've been there for Katja and Duck in the past. Which I have - I gave them food, talked to them, saved Duck on the tractor etc. I was pleased to see he remembered that.

I helped Kenny the WHOLE time in my playthrough (I even agreed with him on moments I wasn't really agreeing).

If you done that & you show him the bite he'll tell you that he's your friend & he will be with you.

So saying he just uses you is false.

well yeah lol, i was staying neutral in the discussions between him and lily in ep 2 that was obviously a major offence that prevented any friendship...

Ah whoops, just made a duplicate topic about this in my blind rage against Kennys words to me, my bad. Haha. But yes this is really offensive how he acted this way when I have been 100% Kenny through out the game. I even have a jacket.

For me, I didn't even need to show him the bite...I replayed that last scene a couple times just to see if it was possible for him to NOT come with me, and no matter what he claims that I've always had his back and he'll stick with me. Even if I hide the bite and just say I'll go alone, he tells me there's no chance he'd leave me to go at it by myself.

I generally supported Duck and I killed Larry, but I got into more than one tiff with Kenny about his method of doing things...I most defnitely did not "always have his back." I guess my Kenny is just a lot more forgiving than your guys' :p

Sounds like your plot flags done goofed, OP.

One of the choices that makes a difference is the choice after Lee gets bit and they're talking about who will go with Lee to save Clem. As he's telling you you're selfish and he doesn't wanna go with you, tell him Clementine is family and he'll go.
  • edited October 2012
This is who Kenny is. With his family gone he is only interested in himself. By mentioning "Family" in the dialogue, it just reminds him that he had a family once too, but he is already trying to forget it and move on. It is not out of character at all for Kenny.
  • edited October 2012
Yea Kenny came with me, saying "Lee you've had my back from the beginning, what kinda friend would i be if i didn't help you now, Bitten or not im with you till the end" Thats my boy!
  • edited October 2012
Yeah I got the same reaction from Kenny. He's one of my favorite characters. Been routing for him since the beginning. Sure he was a selfish dick since HIS ENTIRE FAMILY TRAGEDY thing right.

But you know he shouldn't be right. Cause you know it just happened the day prior and everything... Get over it bra. Am I right or am I right Kenny-haters?

Just face it, he's a batshit crazy asshole.

I only keep him around for episode 5 since I can surely use a meatshield somewhere. Sorry, no saving you this time. Shouldn't have been such a pain in the ass despite me being so friendly to you. Say hi to your family...

    You better can do that...

That is exactly what I said in another thread. I brought everyone along to use as meatshields to get to clem before Lee turns.

I bet i would be too if my wife and son had just died.. the fact that he is trying to help Lee (well my Lee) is amazing

Yeah, in my canon save Kenny was totally cool in the end. We said he'd be a terrible friend if he didn't come to help with Clem. I copied that same save and rewound, and saved Ben. Then , after saving Ben, he acted like I had failed him COUNTLESS times throughout the episodes. He even said that there were a lot of times I hadn't been there for him, which I call bullshit on. Tell him Clem is your family and he'll come along.
  • edited October 2012
The way he acted in the harbor, wanting to kill molly even if she was no longer a threat, hating on me Lee, being drunk. Not caring about Clem or anyone else at all.

Can't get a bigger asshole that that. Even with your family dead, why so willing to sacrifice everything you still have?
  • edited October 2012
I don't want him with me. I want him to go fuck himself and realize that he's all alone, his family is dead and because of his selfishness, he'll die alone without a single soul giving a crap about pathetic life. I think that is worse than Lee's fate.
  • edited October 2012
Die Lillylover. Team Kenny all the way. Kenny never killed someone in the group in cold blood.

So, I should die because I prefer Lilly over Kenny? Wow...

Kenny never killed anyone in cold blood? *Cough* Larry *Cough*... Not to mention all the rest he killed indirectly...
  • edited October 2012
    I wasn't being serious lol.

Nah not in cold blood. Like the murderous wench that Lilly is. She shot someone over pure speculation. Kenny made a logical choice of a preemptive mercy killing on Larry's part. Before he inevitably came back as a walker to devour the whole group int he confined meat locker.

This is how i felt about Lilly, just replace He with She, and remove the family part :D

This annoys me, I've been Kenny's bro and he was mean to me here. Could telltale not just tell us what requirements there are for him to be nice to you there?

    Sick bastard...

I wonder what are the exact figures for Kennys loyalty work? I side with him on everything except Ben and I have to convince him a little bit. May be a glitched save.

    Whatever Kennys still awesome though

Both Larry and Ben are understandable. There was a good chance Larry was already dead, and Kenny was only preventing him from reanimating. Ben got Kenny's entire family killed in front of his eyes, the family he gave up his humanity to save. Ben...

    1. Got Duck and Kat killed through his deal with the bandits. Ben admits that it is his fault.
    2. Took the hatchet out from the door and let walkers swarm the school, putting everyone at risk and getting Brie killed.

Plus, he was stupid enough to tell Kenny he was responsible for Kat and Duck's deaths while Kenny was slamming a door down, walkers were everywhere, and it looked like the group was about to die. Because of what Ben did. I'm actually surprised Lee and Vernon were able to hold Kenny back. It's been two days AT MOST since Kat and Duck died. Not only has Kenny even begun to cope, but Ben put everyone's life in danger again and gave Kenny yet ANOTHER reason to kill him. You can't fault Kenny for wanting Ben dead, after everything the kid put him through.

    Let's see...

I'm pretty sure I sided with him on just about everything. I saved and defended Duck, took his side during the arguments, found food and water for Duck, helped kill larry, sided with him again, talked him into stopping the train, killed Duck for him, gave him the gun so he'd shoot the kid...

The only thing I did that he disapproved of was saving Ben. Even then, Kenny needed no convincing to come with me.

Kenny's refused me twice - I'm going to have to play about with the choices and see what's triggering it.

First game, I goofed at the tractor - missed that there was a second hotspot to click after trying to save Duck and the timer ran out on me, reasoned with Larry, generally leaned towards Kenny but took a guarded "let's see what everyone else has to say"/"Let's examine other options" approach and often didn't give him the commitment he wanted at the big crisis points - especially with Larry. Shot Duck, talked Kenny into shooting the starved kid, told Kenny he ought to kick Ben's ass when we'd got out of the school, and hauled said ass out of the belltower for the kicking. Chose the "Clem's my family" line and he exploded on me, much like Herschel exploded on him.

Second game, I'd played through going pretty much the opposite of what I'd done before - I don't remember that one as well as my main playthrough, but I recall that I saved Shaun and held Lilly back while Kenny killed Larry. I let Kenny shoot Duck, killed the starved kid myself, voted to keep Ben when Clem spoke up then dropped him down the belltower. Kenny seemed more conflicted - "I'm a Christian man, but I've got to think what would you do if I was in your shoes". I chose the "Kenny, I NEED you" line and he refused.

My third save seems to have been a lot more pro-Kenny going into Ep3 than the other two - I saved Shaun and picked a fight with Larry when he threatened Duck - maybe that's going to be the key.

Loads of people were also calling for his death after ep 3 for what happened to Carely so it's not like we don't understand it. Anyway what would you do if Clem (who is actually you're daughter) and Carely (who has been your happy wife for years) were both killed because of Bens mistake. And you have had little time to grieve. Does that help anyone understand Kennys point of view?

I almost teared up when he said that. I loved the scene where they found the boat and he dropped the bottle of whiskey and smiled.
