How to NOT bring Omid and Christa with you

edited March 2013 in The Walking Dead
So how do you get them to not insist on coming with you? I've heard if you hide the bite then they won't, but doesn't sound like it's the only choice that matters, but I can't really think of another time that would help or not help them supporting you. I guess right at the start you can agree that Omid needs a rest, and later on that you need to make sure Omid gets his meds, but none of those seem like major choices.

Anyway what I'm looking for is what choices/dialogue options did the people who didn't have them insist on joining you make?

Actually, at the start I said we had to keep moving and didn't even ask about his medicine. I actually forgot he existed completely until we returned to the house. I showed everyone the bite, and he and Christa decided to come with me even though at first I said I had to go on alone.

I played through the last part multiple times to see differences. I hid the bite in a couple of them, but no matter what I did, Omid and Christa always insisted on coming. I tried just about every combination of decisions in that last scene I could think of and they always wanted to tag along.

If you show the bite they are in almost no matter what. If you hide the bite there are a few other factors.

Thanks for the tip but what other factors? Would I have to be completely anti-Omid to go without them? Cause I don't think I can do that.. Omid's to awesome..

Stuff you did in Ep3 might influence them - they refused in my second playthrough, where I'd consistently chosen the least reassuring option when Christa asks about how I'm taking care of Clem and hauled Christa onto the train instead of Omid. I also told Christa I didn't want to worry her when she asked about the radio, and she seemed really put out by that.

Maybe pushing Omid also helps them stay behind?
  • edited October 2012
If so, it's not the only factor. I pushed him and they still were dead-set on joining me in the end.

Did you hide the bite? If you show it, they'll pretty much come with you no matter what.

I thought it was kind of odd how these two seemed to willing to help, actually. Christa told me that she and Omid survived by staying alone. They came with us, originally, because trains are fast. Then they needed to stay with me for Omid's leg, which I was a bit responsible for. They seem to want to come on the boat as well but this helpfulness seems odd.

Why does this pair, that told me they like to stay alone, seem to want to stick by me to the point of risking their lives to help out? They don't even trust us enough to tell us that Christa is pregnant yet they are going to put their lives on the line? What makes my group so much more worthwhile then their previous experiences? Makes no sense to me.

In the end though. I really wish Kat and Carley had stayed alive and these two had never shown up. People say, the Carley/Doug thing had to be put down but Omid has such a small role that we could have easily put Carley/Doug into it and if a pregnant woman angle is so darn important, just make Kat pregnant. Voila. This episode really shows how totally needless their deaths were.

    I hate episode 3. >.<

Assuming they don't know you're bit... I think if you save Christa on the train but leave Omid behind, she will be less inclined to go with you, which convinces Omid. If Clementine goes to Crawford with you, she's not there to save Omid's life which changes his opinion and therefore Christa's. I don't know if other factors are in play, too, but those are two I'm aware of.

WHAT? Omid DIES if Clem comes to Crawford?

That didn't happen in my playthrough. How does that happen?

No, Omid does fine on his own, but Clem wasn't there to help.

At one point before Lee gets split up from them he lets Christa go before him saying she's "walking for two" so that kinda proves it right?

I was going for Pro-Kenny on my second playthrough and I wanted Christa and Omid to stay with the boat. I hid the bite but they still went with me, and Omid said it's because Clementine protected him when we were gone(I didn't bring Clem with us to Crawford) and Christa said I was always there for both of them. -.-

I did a Pro-Kenny playthrough as well but i got the exact opposite result. I said i need to do this alone and Kenny said he won't let me do such a thing, and he's certain Omid and Christa feel the same. Then they immediately said they will not be joining me. Kenny must have felt like an idiot there. :D

I think the final decision in episode 3 plays the largest part in influencing whether they'll join you. Followed by that, bringing Clem with you to Crawford(which i didn't expect to have any influence), disagreeing with Christa when she asks to stop so Omid can rest, and disagreeing with her again when she says she's not sure if Omid is feeling well enough to leave the mansion.

I think those are most of the influences but I'm not sure. They seem like the ones that would have the biggest impact. Why else would the last major decision in ep 3 be "help Omid or don't help Omid"?

Christa's a jerk. I was super nice to them but decided to hide my bite and she said they weren't coming and then is a total butt to Omid all the time D:< *RAGE RAGE RAGE*

Okay still no luck. This is what I did:

    * Did not welcome or be nice to them in EP3

    * Pushed Christa to reveal what they were talking about earlier

    * Gave the least reassuring responses to Christa about taking care of Clem

    * Pushed Omid

    * Saved Christa

    * Sided with Kenny to keep moving

    * Sided with Kenny over Christa on the Walkie-man's intentions

    * Never talked to Omid or Christa afterwards

    * Took Clem to Crawford

    * Didn't talk to Christa at Crawford

    * Voted for Ben to stay after Christa didn't want him to (Had to tell Clem she couldn't vote first)

And after all of this they STILL refused to let me go alone after revealing the bite. Does anyone know if there is any dialogue in the game's files about them not coming when showing the bite? I'm out of options haha.

I think if you reveal the bite, they come no matter what. I did a lot of what you did but offered to carry Omid, and they let me go without them since they didn't know I was bitten. Christa even says in the attic she would have come if she knew Lee was bitten, so I don't think you can get rid of them if they know about the bite. :p

That's what I've figured for awhile, but from what Jake said above and other previous hints other developers have said, it seemed like the "Show or Hide" choice wasn't 100% the only choice that mattered here. Oh well, I really wanted to see if they'd refuse to go knowing Lee was bit :P

Bringing Clementine actually helps, because Christa thinks it a better idea to be by Lee's side. And I have done both combinations of grabbing Omid or Christa first, they really don't seem to care past ep 3.

And might I just say woop woop, telltale member^

I think one of the only ways of going alone would be hiding your bite. I can't think of any other way than being a complete dick to them, something they don't completely deserve. They live longer than you, so treat them nicely lol

That's right. They will always go with you if you reveal bite, and not revealing it causes unnecessary stress.

They say "We are all responsible for Clementine, and in your condition, who knows if you'll make it to her in time. We'll get her, no matter what Lee" or something along those lines, meaning you can't sway them.

And there's so many of them!

I recently stumbled upon this exchange after you tell Andy St. John nobody fucks with you and then talk to Mark.

Mark: So what's your read on Andy so far? You think they'd be open to letting us stay?
Lee: I may have turned him off when talking up our guns.
Mark: Shit. Well... do something to turn him on again.
    Lee: O_O
Mark: You know what I mean.

I found pushing omid off the bridge and not helping either one of them on the train really pisses them off. Dont show bite after that. Worked for me.I never liked them.I hope Omid and Christa die in the DLC.

I'm not sure, but Christa and Omid only go for Clementine if your an aresehole to them :)

I just finished up my first and only playthrough of all the episodes. I didn't realize it was tough to not bring Omid and Christa along when you went back to the sewers since I ended up going along (and losing a piece of me in the process!).

    Some things I recall:

    I pushed Omid
    I rescued Christa first
    I took Clementine to Crawford
    I hid the bite
I said I needed to go alone

I played a good guy in general. I was always upfront and honest with Clem. I felt Omid was going to die and turn which is why I took her to Crawford. I also talked to all characters at every opportunity.

I was most surprised with my Ep4 results. I was only in the 32% minority who let Ben go and only 19% minority who hid the bite. To me, if this was a movie, no way does Lee reveal the bite. That's a plot suspense point that would be shared with the character and audience until the end. I'm surprised I was in the major minority on that.

I was shocked when i saw someone in a let's play immediately hide the bite without any hesitation. These people are what passes for friends now, you fight alongside them and save each others lives every day, yet you still distrust them? I suppose it can be an easy choice if you're against Kenny and not too comfortable with Omid & Christa, but some people are as good as good can be to everyone yet still hide the bite.

I was fine with Kenny and Omid/Christa. I had no hesitation about hiding the bite because that's just what heroes do. Lee didn't need sympathy or help there. He was looking for Clementine and was going to do it alone against the odds.

And I managed to go off alone, so I kept them out of harms way.

I personally think it builds a better bond with Lee in that you two are the only ones who know of the bite and that he is going to die, so all your actions become that much more important. (And you don't have outside people reminding you that you're going to die each spare moment.)

I have to ask, for those of you who successfully took Kenny but not Christa and Omid, how did he die/get lost? I've only seen two death (possibly?) scenes: Him putting Ben out of his misery, and him saving Christa from the zombie-hole. If you only have Kenny with you, how does he die or go missing?

All of the remaining members meet back at the mansion, regardless of who you bring to Vernon's "hideout".

    He dies the same way.

I would have preferred a scenario in which Omid & Christa refuse to join you even if you show the bite due you heavily opposing them throughout the episodes. I wanted Kenny to saw off Lee's arm but Christa does it every time if she goes with you so i had to hide the bite, and that's somewhat disappointing.

Doug/Carly depending and chuck should of took the place of omid/christa at the end. Had no attachment to them and wished they would go away. Carly/Doug/Chuck would of had longer to devolpe and depending on how you treated them help you to save clem. I cared more about Dougs lazer pointer, Carlys gun, and Chucks guitar more than Christa/Omid or as i like to call them. The pregnant lesbian couple. Yes omid is a bitch.

Question can you just have one or the other follow you,i mean is it possible to have Omid come with you and Christa stay behind,or Christa come with you and Omid stays behind,i thought i saw a video where Toby Turner was playing the game on Youtube and at the end there were on screen graphics of the characters who chose to come with you,but i can't find this screenshot now :(

Omid and Christa either come or stay as a pair.
