Why not Grim Fandango?

So, have you guys ever thought of taking on Grim Fandango? Impossible?

It is impossible. Because they don't have the license.

    Because Lucas Arts.

LucasArts owns Grim Fandango, and like all their adventure IPs, they don't seem to have any plans besides sitting on them.

Because it's Tim Schafer's baby and if anyone should do it it's Double Fine.

Also, I haven't played it, but many have said that it doesn't really need a sequel, nor would it really work well with one.

    It really wouldn't.

Unless there's a Tenth Underworld or we have an entirely new cast of characters. Or if we have a game that fills in all the gaps in the main storyline.

I'd totally play a game that only took place in Rubacava and was basically Manny transforming that dinky diner into Casino Calavera.

    BECAUSE

    (a) the only relevant story in this universe is already told and
    (b) Telltale doesn't do remakes

    ;)

Who owns the license for Full Throttle? Same?

Yes, Lucas. And that's another Tim Schafer creation. Belongs with him if anybody.

Er... I'd think in such a rich world there could be plenty of other stories told. So many side characters that we don't know all that much about... even in the underworld, there must be many of the same problems as in the human world. I mean, there's a police station, a florist, restaurants and bars, a harbour, a trade union... there could be prequels, but also sequels (unless I missed something about Rubacava completely disappearing after Manny Calavera's story).

I'd honestly would prefer Grim Fandango to be left alone, unless Tim Schafer was given the rights to make another game, and that's assuming he would even want to make another Grim Fandango game.

I could see another story happening within the Grim Fandango world. Just not one with Manny. His story is very much done, and I'd hate to see it undone. Another character's story would work fine though.

You know, I think there is definitely a story with Eva and her being a spy for the Lost Souls Alliance.

Manny always felt like the voice of Grim Fandango to me. It would be weird to have a new game without him as the "hero".
