    PC.

Because PC is best game machine.

PC. Because when I'm not playing games, I can use it for everything else.

The NES. You never forget your first love. Haven't had a console since because the PC is just better in every way.

Just PC, because it's real, because it's good, because it's powerful
Just Someone should telling this to RockStar, We want GTA_V on PC not old consoles

My very first home console was a gamecube. It still holds the spot of my favorite gaming console today. Many great games were made for it, such as SSBM, Paper Mario 2, Zelda: TP, and Zelda WW.

Another vote for PC. It just has so many games for it. Plus, mods. Oh, blessed mods. How I love thee.

As for actual console, I'd probably go for the PS2. There's a reason it's the best-selling console ever.

PC. Massive library of games (that gets even more massive if you factor in emulation), modding, the hardware can be upgraded to keep up with the latest technology, and those amazing Steam/GOG sales.

Aside from PC, it's a close match between the SNES and PS2. I don't think I could pick a favorite out of those two.

PC means personal computer. Computers aren't consoles. Neither are portables.

If we can't count computers, I guess I'd say the NES because that's the only console that I ever played anything on. And all I played was Mario. And I only played Mario games that had Yoshi in them.

And the console wasn't even mine.

I haven't seriously used what I would call a "console" since ColecoVision. PCs do everything I need, but I don't call them consoles.

Like I said, PS2 if we're disqualifying PCs. I should probably explain why a little better this time.

The sheer number of games for it is amazing - I'm still discovering ones I've never heard of before, and you can play PS1 games on it too, which is I believe the first major home console to have backwards compatibility. I love the controller and honestly think it's one of the best ever designed. The fact it could play DVDs was awesome at the time (though superseded by the PS3's ability to play Blu-Rays AND copied backed-up DVDs). And I loved the case.

    So there you go.

Well, that kind of destroys the point of the topic doesn't it.

Video game consoles are computers. They're just computers that use a video output system that is primarily used to display on television sets as opposed to computer monitors.

Today, with so many computers having DVI output and television sets even having VGA support built in, the terms a lot more blurred than they used to be. If you primarily use your television set to display output from your PC or Mac, then it technically would meet all the criteria to be categorized as a console.

I'd have to say PC is my favorite too, although I really enjoy the Xbox 360 (and I still occasionally play the PlayStation 2, Wii, and Dreamcast).

I had to go with PC, but N64 was close.

It was my first game platform, it brought me adventure games, I had my first online multiplayer games on it, and Half-Life 1 mods sustained my interest in games when I was too poor to afford a new games or the computer to run them, or a new console.

SNES, hands down. Close second is the N64. I loved my PS2 (and still love my PS3) and Xboxes but nothing beats the memories of the SNES.

PS2 with PS3 coming in second. Just love the exclusives for them. Sly Cooper,Jak & Daxter,Ratchet & Clank,Parappa the rapper (even through i have only played the PSP version of Parappa 1),Uncharted,Infamous. I just like Playstation's exclusives better.

I have no idea how you could forget SNES and Dreamcast, but whatever..

I chose Other because I can't pick just one. Never been a fan of those kinds of decisions because it's pretty much impossible. SNES, PS1, GBA, PS2, NDS all had great titles on them. I own over a hundred PS2 games, and more than 50 PS1 titles. Mostly cause it was easy to find them used when I had actual money to spend.

The PC is another a great choice because of the fact I can emulate a lot of the cartridge-based console games I loved, and it's got a great selection of games on its own between GOG, Steam, and everything released before those came around (or on their own like Telltale).

However, I've enjoyed almost every console I've ever owned, even if I didn't own a lot of games - rentals were always an option. N64, Dreamcast and GameCube come to mind. I have gotten a surprising number of Xbox 360 games over the few years I've owned it, and my Wii has seen new life since I soft-modded it with Homebrew Channel. Allows me to do emulation on an actual TV! But it also lets me access codes on games I might've never touched on the Wii like House of the Dead or Trauma Center.

I will always remember my precious Intellivision with love. I played so many fun games on it. Sure the quality is so much better now in gaming it's unbelievable, but those early consoles were terrific. Now I love my p.c., so I'd have to have a classic versus current choice.

The best console is, I believe, the Nintendo Entertainment System. It's primarily responsible for bringing console gaming back to popularity after the console video game crash of 1983.

The second best is the Playstation 2. Current consoles might be more powerful and look better, but the PS2's game library is massive, and there were games still being published for it after the PS3 was released.

The PC. Because the PC can play any game you want it to (with a little work) and you can play it in any way you want to (keyboard, mouse, joystick, flightstick, Wii remote, gamepads of all kinds, etc).

So I'm just gonna list all of the good Gamecube titles, because there's a lot of them- why? Because it'll show why I like the console:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure

    Starfox Adventures
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
    Sonic Heroes

Sadly, I have to point out the following:

Sonic Adventure 2 DX - Port.
    Sonic Heroes - Multi Platform.
Soul Calibur 2 - Multi Platform (though the NGC version had Link, so...)
Tak and the Power of Juju - Multi Platform.
Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams - Multi Platform.
Tak: The Great Juju Challenge - Multi Platform.
Looney Tunes: Back in Action - Multi Platform.
    Spider-Man 2 - Multi Platform.
Fairly Oddparents: Breakin' Da Rules - Multi Platform (I think).
Resident Evil 4 - Superseded (superior ports on PS2 and Wii).
Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies - Multi Platform (I think).

Don't get me wrong - I love the GameCube too. But your list of Gamecube exclusives isn't quite as big as you say.
  • edited November 2012
The Gamecube has far better graphics than a PS2, so I wouldn't go to a PS2 first for a game that the Gamecube also has. The port on PS2 for RE4 is NOT superior. If anything it's downgraded and blurry.

Didn't it have the Ada Wong missions?

Also, the Wii version was the best one, wasn't it? (and didn't RE4 also get ported to the PS3? I could swear I remember seeing that in the store and passing it up since I've got the Wii version)

And I thought the XBox had the best graphics of the lot? Or is that just a separate matter for debate?

    I think so.

Haven't played the Wii one, but probably.

Yes to the PS3, I believe, but only on PSN. And yes. And yes.

I'm mostly listing games the GCN had, though, and since it had the better graphics, I would choose its versions of games over the PS2. I own both consoles, though, so eh.

Well, since I don't class the PC (or Amiga, or Commodore 64) as a console, I'm gonna go with N64, since I adored my N64. And I got it for £20 in 2002 when it was being discontinued and all the games and peripherals were dirt cheap. And I was still a student so between minimum wage employment and not going to lectures I had loads of free time to waste trying to catch the Hylian Loach, or get the true ending on Starfox 64, or get a decent photo of Mew... god I loved that console. It's also the first true console I ever owned, since I don't think the Game Gear counts.

And I still love the N64 controller and anyone who thinks it's a design abomination can go to hell. TRIDENT OF DOOM!
