The Pixar Thread

Well with Monster's University (The prequel to one of my favorite Pixar movies) coming up, i thought it would be cool to have a thread to discuss Pixar's movies may it be the extremely good ones like Toy Story,The Incredibles and Monster's Inc or the not as good ones like Cars 2. In my opinion Pixar has made some of the best animated movies. So anyway some of the things people can talk about are the Pixar movies, games, references, and anything that is Pixar :)

Also has anyone noticed that in Cars 2 during the credits when it shows Paris you can see Gusteau's restaurant from Ratatouille. Also strangely enough i don't think the sign of the restaurant shows Gusteau as a car. I think it shows him in his normal self and not as a car :/.

Wrong thread but right idea, Shrek 2 is extremely good.

I think Up is the best Pixar film I've ever seen (I haven't seen Wall-E yet, so that could well replace it) and I'll be buggered if I hear a bad word against it. If it's so good it can make me tear up, all other arguments are invalid.

Yeah Up is great. Wall-E is another good Pixar film. I like the ending of both as well :)

Anyone saw Brave? That was totally awesome! Merida is a pretty cool princess!

I'm not a big fan of cartoons, but I loved The Incredibles, so that automatically is my favorite Pixar movie. I enjoyed the first Toy Story as well, but that had more to do with the novelty of it. Seeing that kind of movie in the movie theater for the first time was pretty awesome.
And I saw Cars, but that's only because of George Carlin.

Okay, one, Bee Movie isn't even from Pixar, and two, Adam Sandler isn't even in Bee Movie.

    *sigh*

But Adam Sandler was in Hotel Transylvania, which is about as close to Pixar quality as Sony Pictures is going to get for a LONG time.

If I had to choose a favorite Pixar film, it would probably be either The Incredibles, which actually made a better "Watchmen" movie than the official Watchmen movie, or Up, because there's just so much emotion in it.

My favorite will always be Finding Nemo, because I just can't get over the ironic title.

Hard for me to pick a favorite, but until I see Wreck-It Ralph, thus far it's a tie between Up, The Incredibles, and Brave for my favorite Pixar film.

Ralph isn't Pixar. Nor is Tangled.

    No bad tope

    ParaNorman is not a Pixar

It did not win the Academy Award for Best Animated.

    Shrek is my favorite Pixar.

Seriously?! I knew Tangled wasn't, but I thought Ralph was.

    Nope, Ralph is Disney.

Up and Wall-E are my favourite Pixar movies (I was also a huge fan of Bug's Life when I was a child). The first 10 minutes of Up... I tear up every time.

But my most favourite animated movie ever is How to Train Your Dragon, which is Dreamworks, so... not for this thread :p

I'm happy someone got that, ya know since this is The PIXAR thread not The DREAMWORKS THREAD!

    I'm joking btw.

The jokes about computer animation companies are getting old quickly. Get the facts right or dont bother commenting on it.

As for Pixar. I don't like them anymore(since Cars II is proof that they sold their own soul to Disney). However, I enjoyed the early films. Like Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and The Incredibles(my favorite being out of all of them). Its amazing how much talent is at Pixar. Heck they are even nice people for that matter. I'm sure some are aware that Purcell works for Pixar.

I think the only sequel Pixar should have done other than Toy Story is to make the Incredibles a trilogy. That could work very well except Pixar is now left to be desired for me since they are like every other animation company. Selling out and abusing the great talent that works there. Don't get me started on Brave. Wreck it Ralph should have won the oscar over that crappy film.

I've said it many times, but Brave had a very specific intended audience: young women. If you are not a young woman, it will be incredibly difficult to see why the film was absolutely fantastic. Because, what I thought was the best aspect of the film was how well they portrayed a mother-daughter relationship.

I mean, the way the two interacted/reacted was so real that it dredged up memories of similar fights with my own mother... I rarely get emotional with movies (the main other ones would be Land Before Time and the first eight minutes of Up), but this movie just really struck a chord. It's hard to have that sort of response if you haven't lived it. Yeah, the plot wasn't exactly the best and it wasn't incredibly funny... but it was real. And that's the reason I think it won.

Several. Several of my friends with daughters completely went to love land for Brave.

It's entirely possible that I liked Brave as much as I did is because I grew up with two sisters and my mother while my Dad was rarely home, so I sort of absorbed that sort of thing as something that happens.

Brave is actually the Pixar movie I most consistently enjoy throughout. Wall-E and Up have parts that I absolutely LOVE far, far more than I like Brave, but Brave didn't have those things which dragged the other two down.

I loved Brave because of several reasons. First of all, and not as important, so let's get it out of the way, this movie looked AMAZING. I loved how it looked. The scenery was amazing, the characters looked fantastic, and Pixar really nailed hair in this one. Secondly, I loved the music, both orchestra and vocal. Thirdly, I loved the characters. Finally, a Disney princess who isn't obsessed with getting the handsome prince. I loved the way the characters played off each other and just how amazingly goofy and serious they could be, and the superb voice acting really helped sell that.

So what is everyone's thoughts on Monsters University? My thoughts, A return to the old Pixar. Brave was a step in the right direction but Monsters University was an return to the great Pixar movies in my opinion but still not as good as some other Pixar movies.

It was a crappy cash-in based on a castrated version of decades-old college and team event competition movie tropes that have since been run into the ground. Felt like a way overly long episode of a shitty Saturday Morning cartoon series, not like a proper film.

Monsters U was awful. It gets two thumbs down from me. Pixar obviously made this for the sake of profit. This could have been a good prequel, but they forgot that Mike and Sully went to school together in the 4th freaking grade. If I want a good college movie I'd watch Animal house over this.

Doesn't Pixar even realize that people WANT AN INCREDIBLES SEQUEL over stuff that nobody asked for? I dont remember seeing people asking for a sequel for Cars or even finding freaking nemo people.

I want a sequel for The Incredibles already :P

Samuel L Jackson himself even wants an incredibles sequel to happen. :D

I actually quite like Monsters U. Which was surprising as I wasn't the greatest fan of the source material.
