Super Smash Bros thread.

Well since there is a new Smash Bros game coming for the 3DS & Wii U i think it would be the right time to have a Smash Bros thread. Generally in this thread you can talk about the games, make lists of characters you wish were added, talk about stages, favorite characters and other things about Smash Bros. Also if you want you can try and set up Smash Bros Brawl Matches to play online so if anyone wants my Smash Bros Friend code just PM me :)

For people wondering the person i mainly play as is Sonic :/

I hope that Sonic returns for the next Smash games. He made a good guest character that actually fit the legacy of the Nintendo characters.

Nothing, but my Wii stopped reading disks. Sucks cause I can't play any games at all. I'll be sending it off this week to get it fixed.

It was announced at E3 the year before last, I think. Nothing is really known about them, except that they are going to be shown off at this years E3, they'll be interconnectable and they are being developed by Namco.

Anyway, I'm hoping for more third Party characters this time. Ones that actually fit the games style (I still begrudge Snake's inclusion.). I'd love to see the likes of megaman or bomberman (although his moveset would be pretty generic.).

But I'd really like to see Okámi Amaterasu in the game. She would be awesome. You could have different brush-strokes for the action moves (^B could be wind to blow her to a ledge, Down B would be a bomb, <>B could be her Divine instrument and B could be a vine or something. Her Final smash would be The celestial brush, so everything freezes and you can draw a cut line through a couple of opponents to slice them and send them flying.

Nintendo-wise, I'd love to see the Mii's. They could have various attacks based on the sports from wii sports or whatever. And Ridley would be nice too.

If there's no Ice Climbers there's no purchase.

I was a Link fan myself. Up until I unlocked Captain Falcon ( which took me 10 years!). These days I just use Toon link, or Lucario.

For the love of god, Nintendo needs to remove Jigglypuff from the game. She is not even that good of a fighter let alone being part of one of Nintendo's big money making series.

Setting that aside. I have memories of playing both smash bros 1 and Melee at a friends house. Those were very good times. Not to mention the fact that Melee had to be one of the coolest fighters I've ever played. I have hopes for the 4th one(although I dont have a 3DS or a Wii U). I just hope that they can get characters like Geno to be playable for this.

    Don't underestimated the Jiggly Puff.

At school it was probably the 3rd or fourth best character. (Melee)
(Excellent recovery, pound to grind away, and if you can be precise enough. Rest can causes all kinds of chaos)

    Understandably nerfed in brawl.

But yeah, its a bit of a waste of a slot.

In my opinion, Smash isn't Smash without the original twelve. It's like, a Power Rangers series without a red ranger, or a Scooby-Doo without Shaggy.

That is also a valid point.

Well we finally got the first trailers with the announcements of the Animal Crossing Villager, very strangely, the Wii Fit girl, and MEGA MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

literally yelled in rage in my living room at seeing Wii Fit Trainer as a Smash Bros. fighter, prompting my family to think something was wrong.

Oops. I really need to learn not to take vidya games as such serious business.

I usually play as Mario, King Dedede, or Toon Link while playing Brawl. I'm hoping that SSBU/3DS will have a great adventure mode like Brawl did. I wasn't too fond of the adventure mode in Melee, though.

It'd be interesting to know how Megaman's final smash looks like. And I can't wait for the stage track remixes of the various Animal Crossing and Megaman themes!

HEY GUYS! Let's talk about ALL THE NEW THINGS we now know about the new Smash Bros!

...Oh, oh, we just got a trailer confirming what we already know, and then added two new characters. Then the after-the-fact announcement that a glorified piece of game UI is going to be playable. Okay. So basically nothing of any value whatsoever that merits any discussion other than "Oh. Huh, they did that. Okay."

Here's a fun fact. I have not played a Mega Man game. I am a fan because of the Archie Mega Man comics. My favourite arc is The Return of Dr.Wily arc.

I can't seem to find a face palm pic that justifies how much face palm this is.
(Maybe one that goes straight into orbit)

I don't see how that deserves a faceplam. So what? I have not played a Mega Man game yet. I read the comics and liked them. I don't see what's exactly wrong with that. I know the arcs are based on the games like how Let the games begin was Mega Man 1, and The Return of Dr.Wily was Mega Man 2.

    A) The core MegaMan games had no plot. Dr Wily makes robots, you go beat 'em up. Bam, done.
Sure, later games in the series had plots, but people don't really care about them. It's all about the gameplay.

    B) They're some of the best platformers in existence and you can't call yourself the 'Number1Gamer' if you haven't at least tried them. Not a single person will take you serious (like we did anyway :p)

Seriously, you need to go play MegaMan X at the very least.

That face palm just looped back through the hole in my face.

Apparently, the Mega Man comics that Ryan mentions are notably well-written. I've been meaning to check them out.

Meanwhile I became a Mega Man fan largely due to Bob and George's comic retellings of the games, which are probably a bit... less superlative

I'm not one to tell you that your opinion is wrong, but since you came in here to tell everybody else that their opinion is wrong, I'll just say that I think that's wrong.

I was gonna get the Ipad version of Mega Man X but then i decided to get the Ace Attorney HD Trilogy because you got the first 3 games in the series for £11.99 and i really wanted to try them out. Also i didn't mean that the NES games had a story but the comics gave the NES Mega Man games a story and a good one at that. Here's some of the things that happen in some of the comics
Rock becomes saddened in Mega Man issues 2 & 3 due to having to harm the robot masters
Rock becomes a bit power mad at the end of issue 3 but Roll brings him back to his senses.
During the return of Dr.Wily arc, Dr.Wily puts a virus into the copy chips of the robot masters and everytime Rock copies one of the robot masters abilities a part of the virus is put into Mega Man causing him to slowly be reprogrammed into Dr.Wily's control. He forces himself to go further, he destroys the robot masters even when he beats them and they are not a threat. He stops the teleporter feed to Light Labs so Dr.Light couldn't teleport him back and finally Dr.Light almost manages to install a tracker and anti virus so Dr.Wily could not control Mega Man but he is too late when Rock beats Quick Man and copies his ability, he is teleported to Dr.Wily's fortress and is under Wily's control leaving The first 8 robot masters that Dr.Light built to go in and save him. Now keep in mind this was the story that i think was meant to adapt Mega Man 2

So are the two versions seperate games? With completely different stages and stuff? Or are they ports of each other? Or Smash's version of Pokémon red/blue (mostly the same, with like two things in one that aren't in the other)?

But yeah, the trailers were awesome.

    Love this poster.

I'm glad they included his various power-ups. Otherwise he'd just be a rubbish version of Samus. Although how they'll implement it I have no idea.

Maybe it works like Kirby, maybe Mega Man can copy the powers of other fighters.

They are just his regular attacks. He doesn't switch forms like Zelda/Shiek.
EDIT:yep. They are just his regular attacks

Well, that certainly is a smash bros game all right! Would love it if they just went "all brawl characters return, here are the new guys!" for announcements, but odds are they will just mix and match between "new" and "old" announcements.

Best idea for characters ever. Miyamoto and Iwata join the fight as an Ice Climbers style tag-team matchup.

I'd say that was impossible, but had you said yesterday "the lady from wii fit would be playable", I would have said the same thing.

So the universal consensus is that The Villager in the new Smash Bros. game is a psychotic murderer.

    On that note...

I am still in shock that we got trailers. I wasn't expecting anything more than a single screenshot with the caption: "Yes, we ARE working on it". So. First impressions. 3DS version looks pretty darn nice. Noticed 2 Zelda stages with the 3DS version, the Spirit Tracks stage and for a few seconds just before that, Gerudo Valley. Hoping that the 3DS/DS centric stages don't indicate they'll only be on the 3DS. The Wii U version. Mario, for some reason, has LESS detail than he did in Brawl. Kinda curious that they went with Twilight Princess Link again instead of Skyward Sword Link, especially considering the Skyloft stage(GONNA BE AMAZING!). Noticed that Samus is in her Other M style, so I like that a lot. Kinda wish we'd have gotten to see that sexy Zero Suit Samus though. The new Battlefield looks great, and I like that little wrestling ring stage. As for new characters...Wii trainer chick is kinda...wtf? Same with Animal Crossing person. BUT MEGA MAN!!!

I feel like it's kind of a half-way point between the designs (which are more similar than I thought they were)
