Clementine's Hat

Well, I'll be durned...

Origin had a contest that just ended, where they were giving away a mock-up of Clementine's hat to five winners.

All you had to do was post your preferred zombie killing weapon, so I posted this:
I've always thought the ideal weapon, after a fashion, would be a full-body, head-to-toe "porcupine" suit crafted from 8-inch titanium spikes. A casual stroll easily becomes a safe, secure (if smelly and damp) zombie purée session. Bathroom breaks should, however, be taken with extreme caution.

As an afterthought, tugging George Romero's animated corpse around with you on a leash would prove both fruitful and eminently amusing, as well.

And damned if I didn't win. Just got the email asking where to send it. :)

Yeah. I cool. lol

I actually started to include a reply in the response, in addition to my addy:

"Thanks! I've always wanted to own a beat-up hat with somebody else's name written inside it in magic marker. A dream come true!"

But then I figured they might not have a sense of humor and it'd get "lost in the mail," so I deleted that bit. :p

Congrats man! Those things are pretty rare. I can confirm they are the genuine Telltale article too (sent 'em out to Origin myself!).

Congrats! Is this EA Origin you are talking about? Dang, I knew I shouldn't have deleted it off my computer!

You don't have to have the Origin client (which, although it's no Steam, isn't as bad as people like to say it is), but you'd probably at least have to have an EA account, otherwise you wouldn't be able to post, and they'd have no way to contact you if you won something.

I found the giveaway on their news page, here. Scrolling back a bit, it looks like previous "weekly" GAs have been DLC and stuff like that. Yeah, it was my first time there, too. :)

Fun fact: each one of those blood-splattered hats was individually hand-customized at Telltale HQ... we had to kill a fair few walkers to get all of them done. Occasionally we sent out some that people could, say, wear to the airport without causing a ruckus.

Unnecessary risk, I guess. We need you for season two :D

I have a clean pre-zombied one it looks pretty awesome on one of my nerd shelves.... Paired with the vintage Leisure Suit Larry Land of the Lounge lizards T-shirt it would look like a little league baseball uniform.

Do you let him play TWD?

You're right, they really do seem to go well together!

Ok, now you're just making me feel guilty. lol Honestly, I kinda feel bad because I don't even own the game. I'm a huge zombie fan, have been since the original Dawn of the Dead came out, but after hearing all the hubbub over the Walking Dead comics, I finally tried to read 'em. And woof. Hated them. Again, huge zombie fan, but the WD comics were just awful. The TV series is a lot better, but still a little dry, more of a soap opera that happens to have zombies in the background. So, yeah, with my enthusiasm over this particular zombie tale dampened, I never got around to getting the game. Guess I should probably rectify that. :)

Well.. to be honest if the human drama side of things are not what you're into, WDgame may not be your thing... BUT if you like a good story.. I suggest trying it out... its fun.

Oh, I don't mind human drama, and am usually the one that likes episodic storytelling, which bores my friends. It's just that the WD TV series, at least to me, focuses on that too much. There's very little action, no real adventure. I dunno... I do keep up with it, but still feel like it's missing something, something very important. I'm certainly not on the edge of my seat, biting my nails over it, and really wish I were. Definitely not a watercooler show as things stand now.

Episode 1 of The Walking Dead (the Telltale game) is free on iOS at the moment if you wanted to try it out that way. :)

Don't have any worm food products, but that's ok. There's always somebody having a PC download sale, somewhere. :) Dunno if it's still going on, or will still be next week when I could buy it, but I know Origin had it on sale for ten bucks the other day. You think it'll ever be sold on GOG? I'm a DRM-free supporter, and think they're a pretty cool outfit, so like giving them my money before other webstores if the option exists. Be great to see Jurassic Park make its way over there one day, too.

(Is there a PS3 version? That'd be kinda cool. I do have one of those.)

    Well guys! You're lucky :)
Now Telltale must arrange a new competition. The winner will get a zombified head of Stranger's wife :D With the bag of course ;)
  • edited May 2013
What would second place be if the zombie head is first?
  • edited May 2013
Chuck's guitar maybe or a salt lick, ha! :)
  • edited May 2013
If I won that salt lick then I could kill Lilly in the most ironic way possible, were can I sign up.
