What happened to the store merchandising?

edited May 2013 in General Chat
I remember a few years back there was plenty of Monkey Island and Sam & Max themed merch.

Posters, buttons, coffee mugs, etc.

what happened to them? I can't find them anywhere :\

The coffee mugs turned out to be extremely poisonous. I don't know what happened to the rest of the merchandise though.

A shame all of the cool stuff merch is gone. I guess they just weren't selling

Ouch, since last time I checked, they have killed almost everything from the store. There's two physical items still available right now ("Stock up on featured Telltale merch"), and one of them's a game...

    Remedy this please!

I'm hoping to get the Surfin' The Highway collection, provided it's still available (I tried ordering it from a comic book store, and was sadly told it was out of print), and possibly the Season 3 bonus DVD (I already own S3 on Steam).

I was sad to see the Skeletal Max shirt was gone. That was something I had been planning to buy as well.

That Skeletal Max shirt is the best T-shirt I have ever bought online. It was exactly the right size and had really nice fabric.

Looking back, I should have bought half a dozen so I never run out.

Errrrr, you're in luck, it's one of the two remaining products. ;)

Still, a new hardcover edition with the "Big Sleep" should be out any minute now! would be a cool thing for Telltale to next put in their store.

Wow. It really is sad to see the store so barren. I have so many cool things that I've gotten from the Telltale store over the past few years. It's disappointing to see that come to an end.

    They should sell smoking monkeys.

    Dear Telltale....

How much I love your games is needless to say.I'm a big fan.I love you as a company because you care for us fans, just as much as we care about you too.You show us that you care about our opinion and about what we think.

So my dear Telltale I have to ask you: Give us posters.Give us merchandise of your heroes and characters.I'm a fan and I wanna show it.I wanna show my love for your work.I want to have a big poster in my room's wall with Sam and Max and Lee and Carly. With your Jurassic Park crew and your Poker Night guest stars. With Marty and Doc,with the Walking Dead and crazy rabbit.
I want my room's door to have big nice Telltale brand names and scenes from your games.Kenny posing,Max teasing,Dinos lurking,Guybrush screaming.

Please my dear Telltale, give us posters and goodies of your work!!I love this company and these characters and heroes so much!

They used to do posters, the poster set for Season 3 of Sam & Max is amazing, as well as the Steve Purcell drawn posters for Season 2 and TOMI, but since changing, TellTale seem to have dumped off their old stock and don't seem to be selling many extras anymore.

I made this thread in order to ask for Telltale to think about making new posters, new merchandise.I mostly want posters and stuff of all their heroes together and/or of each game seperately.

We need Telltale to think about it!I want to have posters and stuff of my favorite Telltale games heroes so much!

I think it's probably rights issues. Walking Dead, Back to the future and Jurassic park were popular mainstream franchises, and Universal probably had merchandising deals with other companies. And given how many licenses are involved in games like Poker night, having merch for that would be a nightmare to negotiate. And Telltale would probably be left with very little after everyone took their cut.

As for the rest of the stuff disappearing, maybe the rights expired/ were withdrawn (lucas arts has changed pretty spectacularly since ToMI).

But a large chunk of it was Sam & Max, and I'd be surprised if Purcell would ever disallow Telltale to do Sam & Max merch.

Considering that LucasArts doesn't exist anymore, yeah, I'd say that's a pretty spectacular change.

They weren't really poisonous. Just the State of California thought so. And they included a warning about it.

Since moving here, I've seen the same warning posted in Starbucks.
