I see, sorry for the mistake. Bioshock Infinite is worthy of 30 dollars and your time good sir, the story level seems to be on par with the Walking Dead.

Sorry if I interfere, but that statement is absolutely true.

You can interfere as often as you like ZeroShoot.

I may be alone but I didn't think Infinite's story was that special...
It wasn't as good as the Original Bioshock and the general story was identical to Bioshock 2...

I mean infinte and 2 are both about saving a special girl of which their parent has special plans for and both have pretty cool companions that actually help instead of being escort missions...

    SPOILER

I do not think that Bioshock 2 had all the whole multidimensional aspect, just saying I don't hate Bioshock 2 as much as most people do and if you did not like Infinite then ok I will not hate you for it as it's all a matter of opinion.

No real spoiler here, but it's about Bioshock (1,2, Infinite), so I tag it as spoiler, who has played the games may proceede.
Sure, the story was basically similar, and yet you perceived them both in very different ways. The original Bioshock was great, no disagreement there, but I personally think and perhaps there are Bioshock player who would agree and others that wouldn't, that Infinite took the Bioshock concept a step further.
That said I would add, that they had the guts, unlike Activision with their CoD series, to try and move a little away from the series' roots by leaving Rapture behind and yet staying true to what made the game special.

That would be atmosphere and story, and neither one did disappointed me at all.

As for Bioshock 2: It was a cool game as well, but not as emotional as 1 and 3. You, as the player, simply didn't care as much for... how was she called... Elenor, it was? - as for Elizabeth...

I agree ZeroShoot, they did something that Activision will never do, I so wish that Irrational would make more games though. On the last note, Elizabeth is the closest character to are great Clementine that I know of, she is as good as Clem in my book.

    Agree on both statements.
Hopefully we'll see more from Irrational.
    As for Elizabeth:
She was great, and seemed so... alive, really just how she interacted with everything, and how naive she was in the beginning,
and... well I saw some resemblence to Clem in her, but personally I'd say Clem is my #1, but Elizabeth is my number #2. That's up to everyone themselves though, cause they're really close to each other.

I'm eager to see what type of companion Naughty Dog will give us with "The Last Of Us." I can only repeat from an earlier post: "Hopefully they took a page from Telltale and Irrational's books in terms of creating useful and likeable companions.

If they mix well they could make a hybrid of the two and I would make it game of the year, but if they fail then in my mind Infinite will be game of the year. I personally think Elizabeth is tied with Clementine for best female character but it's all opinion.

With Bioshock I still feel whilst all good...
1-had best overall story, most exploration second best gameplay, brilliant twist, bad ending
2-Enjoyable story, good exploration and choice, best ending, best gameplay
Infinite- Good story, quite Linear, little choice, goodish ending, weakish gameplay, world left unexplained and less background story e.g. most Tapes are relevant to the story whilst in the other games they were their own stories in their own right however best characters, pretty good music and it had the Luteces in it...

It wasn't the change in setting that bothered me about Bioshock Infinite. I probably would have said that story was the best of the series if not for the turn it takes about halfway through, and the overall theme of the ending.
The entire plots of the revolution and general deterioration of Columbia are all passed over just when they were getting interesting for the sake of the alternate reality shtick. What's the point of doing anything with the idea that you should be willing to commit suicide to stop countless evil alternate versions of yourself when you've already won and can move on? Why would we ever try to accommodate for the problems of an infinite number of universes with an endless amount of different results?
The theme has so many variables and ends in one big paradox, with the best outcome apparently being to regress back to a time where a child was left with a drunken bum who would consider selling her to a madman.

So though I admire that something like Infinite was made and don't regret buying it, the first Bioshock probably remains the most satisfying for me overall. Ryan was an amazing antagonist, and the twist coupled with the horrific atmosphere really stuck with me.

I bloody loved the Luteces though.

I really can't say how well some of it has held up over the years, but it shall always have a special place in my nostalgia, fantasy cliches and all.

I agree; Bioshock 1 was definitely the superior game in the series. I wasn't a fan of the interdimensional aspect or the ending of Infinite either (and the more I reflect on them the less sense they seem to make).

Still not a bad game overall, but I don't find it to be the masterpiece that most critics seem to find it, or that its predecessor was.

I am sorry if this whole thread turns into a Bioshock Infinite thread, I may have the game in my name here but but I do not talk about it every minute so this is my fault.

Nah you didn't do anything wrong, no one would talk about it if they didn't want to, would they? We don't have much to discuss on the walking dead forums right now as it is anyways.
  • edited May 2013
understood but if this does turn soar then it is my fault in a way, by the way what did you think of the game because I know almost no one who likes Infinite, to me it's my favorite game tied with Walking Dead.
  • edited May 2013
Me? I absolutely loved it, and enjoyed every damn second of it until the very end.
I conciously decided to ignore the minor flaws it of course had, but rather enjoy the atmosphere, characters (especially Elizabeth and the Luteces), the gameworld, the fights and have as much fun as possible.
To be honest it is one of the few games I actually finished this year, because since TWD I barely finish games anymore, especially no mediocre ones, only the best of the best and that is what I think Bioshock Infinite is. Definitely one of my highlights this year.

After the ending I was just sitting there and starring at the main menu for an approximate 15 minutes, just thinking about all that stuff, you know mind = blown.

I wouldn't say game of the year though... at least not yet, still much to come
(The Last of US, GTA V, TWD S2 etc...)

dunno about conversion rates but when i need to check i use xe.com

anyone else tempted by the gta 5 collector edition ? that hot rod looks pretty sweet

i have preordered it on 360 and using some of my points to make it cheaper.

If I was a betting man I would put the game of the year nominations as Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, GTA 5, and maybe Watch Dogs, out of those I would like Infinite to win but more then likely GTA 5 will win.

The odds seem to say so, although Fallout 3 kicked IV's ass in '08 so anything is possible.
Critics like games that do something new, GTA V will be an epic game I believe, but will it do something new? No, not really, only enhance the good old things. And from how I know Rockstar the story will be good at best, then again the characters will more than likely be unforgettable, that's one of Rockstar's many strenghts. Anyone who played the respective games will remember chars like Ricardo Diaz, Phil Cassidy, Kent Paul, Ken Rosenberg, Maccer, Big Smoke, Brucie Kibbutz, Avery Corrington, Looove FIST!, etc.
My point is: The battle is not yet decided, and Quantic Dream has an ace up their sleeves as well, that could be very well Beyond Two Souls.

I hope GTA does not become game of the year, I grew up with GTA and love it beyond death, but everyone knows that franchise very well, the title won't get them any more fans than it is, other games and developers need that more. Everyone knows how great the GTA series is, no need for GOTY awards, they'll get far beyond enough awards as it is anyways. And their sales will be ground-breaking IV got sold over 25 Million copies, not to mention illegal ones, and V will do even better.
  • edited May 2013
No kidding about the characters Rockstar does not have the best story's but they have some great characters as every time I think of a great western character I think of Red Dead Redemption's John Marston.

I do not want GTA 5 to be GOTY for the same reasons you have, shame that I do not have a PS3 as I want to play the Last of Us so I can not grade how good it is, so that's why I want Infinite to be GOTY due to it's innovation.

The walking dead, the walking dead, the walking dead, the walking dead.... I'm such a joker but seriously the walking dead is one of my favourite games of all time. Let me just look around my game draw full of 3DS games and Wii games. So other games that I like are the legend of zelda series I have 4 of those, minecraft, pokemon, slender. I don't an Xbox so none of my games are not as cool as all of yours.
