The Walking Dead video game SUCKS!!!!

Hey, everybody, this is my first time in a forum.

Anyway I recently played episode 1 of The Walking Dead on XBLA because it was free, and well, you read this thread's title, IT FUCKING SUCKS HARD!!!!

The characters, especially Clementine, are boring as hell. Yeah, I know she's scared, but speak more than 1 or 2 words per sentence, please? Doesn't really define her personality, does it?

There's no gameplay, neither. It's just drag this d-pad looking icon over a dot and pressing a button. I'd rather have free movement when fighting zombies, like in Resident Evil or Dead Rising. Give Survival Instinct SOME credit; at least it had free movement (doesn't mean that game was good).

I know what you're thinking by now: "The choices you make change the story." Mass Effect, Star Wars KOTOR, 'nuff said.

After playing episode 1, I'm definitely NOT spending 20 bucks to get the rest, because I'm not stupid.

My question to TTG is this: How much did buying GotY cost at last year's VGA's? There's no WAY TWD legitimately beat Halo 4 and Borderlands 2 for Game of the Year.

Hi welcome to the forums. I'm sorry to hear you didn't like the game.

Someone who doesn't like a game, would not do a search for the companies forums, to register, then write a 15 minute post for one. Also Mass Effect changes the story? I like Mass Effect series a lot, but no way do your choices mean anything. I am a big complainer about TWD choices not meaning much, and that's true, but Mass Effect? You kidding me? I agree pointing and clicking isnt the best, but the game rules still without that. Go try that other Walking Dead game if your into that and that only. Im sure you will be disappointed. Also, You need to keep playing because episode one, wasn't the greatest of them all. Who plays 30-40 minutes of a RPG to just turn it off without giving it a fair shot?
I expect telltale to learn from their mistakes with changes and decisions you make to actually mean something for their next releases of TWD. Nothing worse then trying the game again but saving someone else to see in factual that it didn't do anything different as far as "CHANGING THE GAME".

Also to your post, get your mom to pull out the soap and give your mouth a rinse.

This in no way sounds legitimate, why would someone who hates a game make a account to make a hate thread, you can not say anyone is boring if you have only seen the beginning, I could say any great video game character is boring if I played for 30 minutes. If you did not like the gameplay then you do not like point and clicks as this is how most are like, it's not the games fault and I can say it's more fun then a mindless shooter and a lot more innovative. If you are going to say the choices do not matter and only played one fifth how do you know it does not matter, Mass Effect is not a good example of choices mattering, quite the opposite. As said above the first episode is the slowest but it introduces the characters that become important, it does not pick up speed and greatness until Episode 2. Telltale is a small development house, do you really think they have the money to bribe 80 websites and the VGA's into saying they are game of the year, only EA would go to that level, and I do not know about you, but in this universe Halo 4 and Borderlands 2 were not nominated for game of the year, the most common were Dishonored, Assassins Creed 3, Journey, Mass Effect 3, Far Cry 3 and the Walking Dead, you might as well have said Black Ops 2 was game of the year. If I were you I have better things to do then make hate letters to a great company and a amazing game that you will never enjoy, but you are free to play COD to your hearts contents, I am done tearing apart your hate and will never respond again, good day.

Nice troll mate, i come from a FPS player background and i played this game. It's honestly the best game i've played this generation. I can see how some people can not like this sort of game and i respect everyones opinion, i recommend, Resident Evil, Last Of Us, State of decay, Dayz, Killling Floor, Left 4 dead, Dead Rising, Dead Island, etc If you want a zombie game that has more gameplay then story.

What a piece of shitty "human" we have here. Please somebody ban him.

This is one of the best games that I have ever played in my entire life, and it's in my list alongside Half-Life Half-Life 2, Portal & Portal 2, GTA:SA, AOE, Mount & Blade, To The Moon. Just beside the best games ever made.
My question to TTG is this: How much did buying GotY cost at last year's VGA's? There's no WAY TWD legitimately beat Halo 4 and Borderlands 2 for Game of the Year.

Yes, because they are rich, more than all those companies. Are you retarded? Telltale is mostly an indie company.

I agree,he didn't even try more of the game, maybe if he got episode 2 he would have been more interested, though I do respect his opinion,as he did at least play a full episode, but he should really give it another shot.

You clearly didn't give the game a fair chance. I for instance don't play a game's tutorial, and then say it's lame, because of course the beginnings are always somewhat slower.

This thread reminds me about a friend of mine, who would go on whole day about how this game "sucked", then I said to him, come over to my place we'll play it through together. (He wouldn't buy it.) Next day he was such a big fan of the game, that he started watching the show right away. He outright hated the first episode. I think the first episode is really an issue for people, who unlike me for example don't like slow, atmospheric games, but want action.

If you, initial poster, want to find out why this game has, and deserved the awards it got, why don't you try to watch a LP of episode 2, and then reconsider buying it? Or if not watch a complete LP.

Yeah, I get it. The post was definitely meant as a provocation. But I believe we can STILL discuss this without insults and an eventual closed thread.

Both sides can be argued for without insults, generalizations and allegations.

And, while taking a look at this forum, maybe there's a great lack of exactly this kind of discussion.

But let's pause for a minute first to see if the original poster ever returns.

Looks like someone's never played a Point-And-Click adventure game before.
I know what you're thinking by now: "The choices you make change the story." Mass Effect, Star Wars KOTOR, 'nuff said.
The game might have the same outcome in the end but you can definitely change how things go - saving Carley/Doug, dropping Ben...
After playing episode 1, I'm definitely NOT spending 20 bucks to get the rest, because I'm not stupid.
Yet you took the time to find the forum and make an account for one post..?

I guess it 'cost' bringing something new to the table - or something old back. TTG is all about the Point-And-Click games, and seriously, you want another bland as all hell FPS to be GOTY? TWD won because it was powerful, different, and consistent.

This game is obviously beyond your brain capacity. The game's genre is a Point-And-Click Adventure for a reason, it's not a FPS(although it had its FPS-like moments.) I know this game isn't for everyone, especially for those who only play FPS games because a lot of them prefer gameplay over story, which is fine, but don't go bashing a game on TTG's forums because you obviously knew you were going to get a lot of hate and criticism from us fans.

HOW DARE TELLTALE MAKE A WALKING DEAD GAME FOCUSING ON SOURCE MATERIAL. I WANT TO SHOOT ZOMBIES.

Oh, and of course a small independent studio like Telltale would have the extra pocket money to buy out the VGAs.

This is one of the many reasons I hate the internet, you can say crap about something and get away with it, the world would be a better place if this never happened, on a happy note what do you think we should do if he does come back?

If you are saying TWD's forum is filled with hatred like this, i humbly disagree. Nearly everything that could possibly be talked about with this game has been discussed to death, so posts like that are going to be more common.
