I bet you can solve this in a flash

OK, here's a question for you adventure-game experts.

Bit of idle curiousity here, but I recall a friend of mine playing an adventure game - probably point-and-click - fifteen years ago or so. It was set in an Olde Englande -type setting, in a town whose gates get closed at night. Outside the gates there was a wood where the protagonist finds some trinket belonging to a woman (herbalist?). Inside the town there's a pub with a thug chucking knives at a dartboard or some such (and if you walk in the firing line, you die). Apparently hitting "Break", or one of those kind of keys on the keyboard, sped up the passing of time from day to night and back.

Any ideas what game this was?

Cheers

    Quest For Glory?

Googling the walkthrough seems to support this identification!

Thanks for the speedy response (now... must.... resist.... GOG..... sale....)

Ah, hell. While I'm at it....

NOT a computer game, this one. Anybody else about my age (still the safe side of thirty-five) remember a television series on Children's BBC. It was a sort of anthology series, each episode being made up of several... well, I suppose you'd call them sketches, except it wasnn't a sketch comedy show by any means. I think it was predominantly, if not all, different kinds of stop-motion animation. One recurring segment was set in a forest, and I think starred a bear and a tiger. In one episode they try and go to Panama (and go at least as far as a crate with "Panama" on it), and in another they tangle up the forest with string when they spread cup-and-string phones all over the place.

Anybody from the UK (or elsewhere, for that matter) with the faintest idea what this could possibly be?

The bear and tiger/panama segment is created by German author Janosch. I'd find it odd if the UK actually imported the TV series Janoschs Traumstunde, but from what you describe, you could actually search for the British translation of that program (according to my hopefully faulty research: "Janosch: The Tiger, the Bear and the Hare").

Well, let's find some other stuff.

80's US family sitcom/show about an army dad. Or I think it was an army dad.

Been trying to find it for some time now. Any idea?

(OH. And if anyone has EVER seen a series/movie with a girl that can't touch anyone because her hands kill on touch, let me know)

I remember the Janosch series from when I was young quite a while ago, so it was definitely imported by national broadcasting here.

There was also this series about a scrap heap that I used to love. I still remember the intro melody, but I have no idea what the series was called.

Does anybody know if the adventure game with text parser from the movie Big was real? I thought the consensus was no.

More details, please. The only series with a trash heap that comes into my mind without further info is "Fraggle Rock".

I only vaguely remember the details, but it wasn't Fraggle Rock, which I also really liked as a kid. Come to think of it the series I was thinking of might not have been about a trash heap, but a construction yard. I think the intro started by zooming in on the place as the the vehicles were waking up at dawn. That is, as far as I recall there was a tall crane and some other vehicles that were the cast in the series. I think the style was similar to Pat and Mat, but I'm not sure about that.

That song tap thing unfortunately didn't turn up anything useful by the way.

It wasn't real. Until 2009, that is.
