Vernon

edited September 2013 in The Walking Dead
I'm kind of confused, on the Walking Dead Page it says that Vernon is dead? How do we know this? I've watched the Shel story in 400 days and saw the talk about Vernon, to me it sounds like they got the boat but then the group got split somehow? Maybe Vernon abandons them on the boat or something? If Vernon dies and the other Cancer Patients did take the boat then why would they boat to Macon or wherever? I'm confused.

From what I have heard in my play through, it sounds like the group kicked Vernon out because he was the one who urged them to steal the boat

From what I understood, he kicked THEM out and kept the boat all for himself.

Agree with Potato there, think Power overtook him and just took the boat for himself, then the other 3 high tailed it out of there and got to Macon.

Are you implying that old people with cancer can get out of there quicker than a group of young individuals can save a little girl from one man and get out of there.
    Whaaaaaaaaaaaat-

Vernon is still alive, I guarantee it...

I also understood that Vernon abandoned his group and fled alone with his goddamn boat.

Well they knew the city better than Lee's group, since they stayed here for a while. Maybe they had another bunker, or a safe way to get out ?

How many people were in the cancer group any way, Kenny said something about it being only able to seat five people..
Maybe they had a capacity problem?

Well with Brie gone they were four , but i think Vernon pulled a Lilly on them and took the boat while they weren't looking

It seems weird that Vernon would just leave them behind, he barely wanted to take my back to the house in episode 4 because he was worried about the rest of them.

Well, when they say that they "lost" Vernon, they use it in the same sentence as Brie, who we know died. I assumed Vernon was dead when they said that.

I think before Lee's group came into town , Vernon thought that the morgue would be secure and that he could take care of these people and that there would be no chance of a horde of walkers coming but he was proven wrong when he asked them in the bell tower if they came here with the train and i think he was scared and thought that the group might slow him down and so he decided to take the boat for himself .

Wait how did they drag the boat in the first place?

Strange though, if Vernon "died" then why did the 3 cancer people take to boat to Macon? Makes NO SENSE. Surely the boat got stole or something. They let "strangers" into their group. Obviously the strangers were Lees group for when Brie died, but Vernon? Maybe they let Molly in then she killed Vernon or something? Maybe just an actual complete stranger that we don't know? Vernon could be dead, considering they said they lost vernon like that but what happened to the boat?

Just sayin. They didn't take the boat to Macon, so how'd they get there?

That's why the Vernon the Betrayer theory makes sense. They had no boat, so somehow managed to make their way to the general Macon area.

Me too. I thought for sure he died.

I could have sworn they said he was dead, or the tone of the voice meant he was dead, might be wrong but that's what I thought they meant, on a side note, if he is dead what do you think about that, I mean I did not want to kill him if we ever met, but for some reason I also feel like it is justified since Kenny went mad after the boat, what do you think?

    2 Ways:

Vernon is dead, hopefully I assume that he stumbled upon Lee and got his ass bitten, or Kenny is actually alive, found Vernon and strangled him with all of his redneck power, or he starved to death in the middle of the ocean

Another is that he ditched the group, the Cancer Survivors say that Vernon was obsessed with the boat, and when they stole it when Lees group left it behind or when they beat up the people that were left behind to guard it, one of the survivors said "Thats when the group fell apart"
My theory is that most of the group realized that Vernon went too far in what they did to Lee's Group and I guess the ensuing part is that the entire group shattered over it, and I guess Vernon ditches them for it.

But we dont know until the next season

No, they say vernon died, i heard that.

No, they say vernon died, i heard that.

They said they "LOST" Vernon, not "Vernon died" or Vernon "ditched us"

We cant confirm if he actually died or he just left

This is the truth about what happened to Vernon...

Vernon was actually able to get the boat into the water after abandoning his fellow survivors. But then something out of the ordinary happened...

I don't think they would've bad-mouthed Vernon as much as they did (Vernon and that goddamned boat/he made us beat up the guy with the mustache) if he had died.

I know, I think he is dead, I doubt we will see him again if he is alive anyway.
  • edited August 2013
Same, but I think he ditched the cancer survivors before he died.
  • edited August 2013
I think so to, he screwed them over just to get killed by his own greed, ironic and fitting at the same time.

Shame, too. I kinda thought he was decent before he went full on asshole.

My reaction when I learned that Vernon is dead: "You finally got what you deserved"

I think he's died when they dragged the boat to the river, through the crowd of walkers.
