Bioshock Infinite DLC!

edited August 2013 in General Chat
The new Bioshock Infinite DLC was announced today! They announced not one, but two DLCs!

The first is Clash in the Clouds. This is a combat DLC which includes 4 new maps and challenges. It also has a in-game musuem where you can look at character models and behind the scenes content.

The second is story DLC, titled Burial at Sea. It's a detective story set before the downfall of Rapture. It follows a noir styled Booker and Elizabeth and Ken Levine said it's somehow related to the events of Bioshock Infinite. You get to see rapture in it's prime, so that's awesome, it's split into two episodes, episode one you get to play as Booker, and two you play as Elizebeth, which has a survival horror playtype.

I couldn't care less about Combat Arenas, but the 'Burial at Sea' one sounds... interesting.

Ditto, I'm going to get both anyway, haha. I want to see the ingame museum and bonus content. I feel like clash in the clouds is one of those things that should have been included with the original game.

    Oh darnit...
Well my Brother traded in Bioshock Infinite for The Last Of Us (Against my wishes) and they then announce the one DLC that could have got me interested in Bioshock...
They have basically made the best possible combination of bringing Booker and Elizabeth (The only good thing about Infinte) into Rapture with plasmids, Big Daddies...
And it is going to be detective noir themed before rapture died...

I'm sorry for your loss man! But yeah I agree, I really love the style of Burial at Sea. I think I read somewhere that it's going to be more focused on story than combat.

Well just take a guess what I think about this, so is the DLC canon to Bioshock Infinite, does it reveal anything about the ending, and when does it come out, are you exploring Rapture as THE Booker and Elizabeth, or as other versions?

Ken said it was canon. I believe this is an alternate Elizabeth and Booker, and there are no details for the release date other than, "Later this year"

Damn it, they said there would be three, so does releasing the weapon pre orders count? And I read that, I don't know what to really say, I think it's alternate versions, as Infinite was 1912, and Rapture was made around the 1950s, how this will tie in with the Real Booker and Elizabeth is interesting, I would like to note that I might not be a fan of the way she looks in this DLC, I thought she was perfect in the main game but another time and another place.

I think the noir look is hilarious, she even has a cigarette. Too early to say which elizabeth I prefer but one thing is for sure, their personalities are way different.
  • edited July 2013
Yes they do seem different, and I am surprised Levine went that way, I thought it would be from another prospective, like the guy that scaples people, the one that was talked about in the Voxophones, this does seem original and I am a fan of that, and if it took so long then it will be not like COD DLC in any way.

Right! I was suprised they went back to rapture as well!

The Combat area one, released today, is the first.

Buried at Sea will be in two parts - one as Booker, the other as Elizabeth.

    That makes three.

I'm not to wild on the fact they counted the two buried at sea episodes. I kind of wanted some Daisy Fitzroy DLC!

Okay, that is not at all what I thought they would do, that is a good thing since the whole game did pull the rung from under me.

Sorry that this is a double post, but does that mean Irrational is going to try Episodic, even if it's for just two, well I hope they can pull it off better then Valve did with episodic gaming, I am still waiting for HL3.

Too early to say, I think it's just for these two episodes though.

It sounds as if the radically different gameplay styles simply seemed to fit better in two separate parts, while at the same time allowing them extra time to work on the second part (Elizabeth's).
  • edited July 2013
I heard the number one compliant was the gameplay, and different gameplay might help, I for one thought the gameplay was really good and fun, unlike most FPS like COD, but different stuff is always good. By the way if I could wait from March to almost August then I will be able to survive the wait for Season 2.

The gameplay infinite wasn't awful but it was a Massive step down from Bioshock 1 and 2...
Infinite felt so limited as you could only have 2 guns at a time, most guns were fairly generic, Vigours were a bit rubbish compared to plasmids, Skyhook isn't as cool as a drill, no ammo types etc
Also there weren't any fun to fight bosses and the 'Handyman' felt like an annoyance whilst the Big Daddy or Big Sister was a challenge...
However with the gameplay more 'Bioshocky', plasmids and Big Daddies...
    This DLC should be good...

For some reason I did not have those problems, and I did play Bioshock one and two, guess I am a odd guy, figures as when was the last time someone said there two favorite games were the Walking Dead and Bioshock Infinite.
  • edited July 2013
    I liked infinite's gameplay but I guess it was because I didn't play 2 and I didn't finish 1.
  • edited July 2013
Well that makes two of us, I for one liked the first more then two, and call me insane but I liked Infinite more then one, and one was 2007s game of the year, but I think that year was somewhat like Walking Dead's year, not that many amazing games to think of, and no I do not count COD 4 as a GOTY nominate, even if it was one of the best CODs.

I love all Bioshocks but infinite is my favorite in storytelling. And I hate COD, don't ask why I just have an irrational hatred towards the series.
  • edited July 2013
Don't worry, I might own every single one of those games, but I could not care less if you said they all sucked, except for World At War, that was my favorite until it got hacked. But ya I would say the story telling was better in Infinite, as the protagonist had personality not trying to hate on Subject Delta or Jack, but they pail in comparison to Booker DeWitt.

Crap, this news just my screw up my Fan Fic in a way, and I just thought that the Elizabeth is Rapture, is the real one, are Elizabeth, I mean she does have a bird on the choker, and one finger is missing, just a thought, that might just screw up the Fan Fic.
  • edited July 2013
It's fan fic. I'm sure you'll find a way around it.
  • edited July 2013
I am sure, it's just the way I see the ending may be different if it's the same Elizabeth, well we don't know for sure, but I am betting a twist at the end.

I am back I have played the Clash in the Clouds and it is more fun then I thought it was going to be, the unlockables are great, the original modals for characters are there and even the recording of the Troy Baker and Courtney Drappers audition to play as Booker and Elizabeth.

If alternate realities don't cut it for you, maybe Bioshock Infinite fan fic just isn't your thing? ;)
  • edited August 2013
Well maybe that, but someone here, I forgot his name, said he would help me with it, so I think I am in the clear, I guess I just panic when stuff I am not expecting happens, I am so dead the moment the apocalypse comes.

Hmm, sounds great! But the thing is I suck so badly at Bioshock and I don't have the season pass so I'm just going to wait until Burial at Sea is out to buy Clash in the Clouds.
  • edited August 2013
Well I was somewhat good at it, I did get halfway through 1999 mode, and like I said the unloackables are worth it along, and the four maps are good, the challenges are what is says on the tin, they make it a bit harder but they add money to your score, you earn money by killing stuff and looting them, you get bonus points for doing stunts, like skyline head shot, environmental kill, knocking them off the city, stuff like that, it reminds me of score attack modes in Halo, and they do have stuff like double kill and beyond, and the later ways get really hard, and the upgrades you buy stay forever, and you sometimes get random gear and infusions bottles, and best part is Elizabeth is still here, something I was worried about, I can't really score it as I am not a reviewer, but it's better then most combat arena DLC, worth buying for a ton of fun and unlockables.
  • edited August 2013
I really want to see those unlockables for myself ^-^
  • edited August 2013
Don't Youtube it, it's really cheating that way, and the concept art is really good, much more so then most games it seems, I had no idea what the original Handyman looked like but I do now, that and all the songs from the main game can be heard from Phonographs, you from Everyone wants to rule the world to Tainted Love, and more. And it helps that it's really cheap at 5 bucks.
  • edited August 2013
Wasn't planning on youtubing it. Gonna try to rough it out and try to unlock all of them. I did hear about an enemy type returning from bioshock one and two that is in clash in the clouds.

Crap, this is off topic, but I see you just got a avatar pic, I am not really sure how to get it to work, double points if you can word it very simply as I am not experienced at a lot of things with this PC, it's a bit new, I will be your Best Friend.
