can telltale kidnap mike stemmle and force him out of retirement?

edited February 2008 in Sam & Max
I think the one person left that would make a huge difference to the new game is Mike Stemmle. Telltale needs to send in a crack SWAT team to corner him out of whatever hole he's hiding in, and put him to work with his old team on the new Sam and Max game!! The fans need him, telltale needs him and Sam and Max needs him goddamnit.

Yeah, I was sort of hoping this announcement would contain something to the effect of "that glorious bastard Stemmle has moved in with us."

    YEAH!

wait, he just worked for Lucas Arts on Star Wars: Republic Commando...

Maybe hes freelance. if he isnt, you can forget about the SWAT team.
    We'd need rebels or stormtroopers...

The game's release was recent, but I don't think Stemmle's work on it was. My guess is he was assigned to work on the Republic Commando project between the time Sam & Max was cancelled and when he (not to mention a lot of other people) was let go.

I still got my fingers crossed he's part of the "10 new members" they are adding for SMNMX production

So stemmle still hasn't resurfaced? :(
  • edited May 2006
He's working on this. As is Daron Stinnett, I've just discovered. I wish I weren't bored by both Star Trek and MMORPGs.
  • edited May 2006
STAR TREK?! Mike Stemmle, your calling is with Sam & Max.
  • edited May 2006
    wow..didnt see that coming

Uhm, why did you bump this tread?
It doesn't seem like there should be any kind of reason for that.

i don't know about the rest of the people on the TTG forums, but it's been my experience that most people don't care about this kinda stuff here.

I saw your join date, so i thought I'd remark.

Also... I don't necessarily like the idea of everyone here acting like this is the something awful forums.

Hehe, I know I came on a little harsh. Sorry about that.
Just thought there were some sort of news to go with his statement, seemed like sike something had happened.

But agree that this would have been a good news if it were ever to happen. And Hero1 made me think something had happend :p

Also I know my Dexter pic does makes me "sound" extra happy.

Thats not Dexter. Thats his comic book alter ego shown in only like two episodes. Plus what's not happy about a forensic blood spatter specialist who also happens to be a serial killer.
  • edited February 2008
Oooh, thanks for relevance link :)

And Dexter always makes me happy, just not sure how many who thinks that at first glance. And of course I know it's really "The Dark Defender" :p

Well, I just thought you were working on something else. Or I had no clue about anything.

Either way I think me and everyone else is happy to see ttg doing well and getting more gifted people.

This is kind of off topic, but it's posts like these that make me wonder what it's like to have complete strangers talk about you/your work on the internet.

Creepy, but well, at least is not like someone is scourging the net for a picture of said person or trying to find out where he (or she, if applicable) lives or works.

One can find a pic of Stemmie in a Telltale article at Joystiq.com :D

I wonder if that means Stemmie would be able to bring out the best outta Sam and Max. Hopefully that is the case since I would love to see Max even more crazy than before

Well the rumor was you had "taken a break from the industry" and I started this thread a long time ago. Anyway glad to see you on board with Telltale.

Telltale's most recent hire, Mike Stemmle, has joined the studio as a designer for the popular and critically-acclaimed episodic Sam & Max series, as well as other upcoming projects. Stemmle is best known for his work at LucasArts as a co-designer on the classic Sam & Max Hit the Road, and as lead designer on Sam & Max Freelance Police before its cancellation.

    from this Telltale Press Release

So is Mike gonna be working on Season 2 episodes? Or are they almost finished?
  • edited February 2008
YES! I can't wait to see what he has to bring to the table. Especially after 203, being the best episode yet and the quality of everything gets surpassed with each episode. Yes! YeS! YES!

I am curious. You think with the resignation of WArd, Lucasarts would be able to allow Telltalegames to release the cancel S&M game?

205 was written and recorded before he started. He's been in on design meetings for the new series with the rest of our ever-growing design team.

It's really time to let that one go, man. I suspect at this point that you would only be disappointed anyway, with nothing to go on in all this time but one trailer, ten screenshots, and your imagination of what a perfect Sam & Max game would be. That game is now 4 years old. I'm sure your minds eye has continuously updated it to be one step more awesome than the Telltale Sam & Max games, but reality would probably slap you about the face a little bit. Let's start looking forward!

It's like living in the Panopticon, only inside-out, and with a lot more creative/questionable grammar.

LOL Okay. You don't have to be harsh since I don't think freelance police would be a perfect game because of nostalga(as in it was deleveoped by LA) or believing it is better, hence it should be released. I mean, I rarely, if not never, rant on and on that the cancelled LA S&M game should be release. I just thought that since it was cancelled when it was near completion, it would mean more Sam and Max to the public if it was release without putting much manpower into it. I would also be giggling with joy if you guys released that cancelled Sam and Max platforming game or used that storyline in an upcomming episode. Anyway to milk Sam and Max for us obsessing fanboys is good, imo

I don't mean to bag on Freelance Police - I've never even played it! But I did definitely mean to imply that people's imagined version of Freelance Police is surely a very different game from what Freelance Police actually was going to be back in 2004.
  • edited February 2008
It's also worth noting that quite a few people who worked on Freelance Police and a good number of former LucasArts people in general now work here, so it's not like Freelance Police had some magical team of adventure game elves making it the best Sam & Max game ever. Some of the people making it worked on season one and two!
  • edited February 2008
I was hoping for some dude leaking it onto the internet. I just really miss playing Sam & Max voiced by Bill Farmer and Nick Jameson, not that the Telltale cast isn't good, they're great.

Again, it's not about what it could've been, it's about what it is.
I'd love to get my hands on it, because each incarnation of S&M so far was its own animal.

Can't tell if that's supposed to insult Telltale or not...
  • edited February 2008
If you consider how far telltales sam & max series has come in 9 episodes I'm not sure I'd want to go back to Freelance Police. As Jake said its probably built up to be a classic in our minds and its probably best to move on.
