Wii Points?

How many Wii points will this game be? I'm sure you're not going to release that information yet but I can hope. I have 1700 points. Would you guess that would be enough? ;)

Oh, man, it's actually going to be 1701 points, sorry :(

In reality, though, we haven't announced pricing yet except to say that it'll be in line with our other games.

It's strange; I haven't come across anything that costs between 100 point values. It's probably for the better, because if one game costs 890 Wii Points then you're stuck there with, like, 110 Wii Points lingering on your account forever. Making you feel all crappy.

I would definitely pay 1000 Wii points for each episode, by the way, as long as I'm getting the same longevity as Sam & Max games.

It must be an exact 100, in order for it to work. No 110s, or 140s! That makes it all the more irritating!
  • edited May 2008
They should make it 1337 Wii Points. xD

    ... 2000, 100, 100 it's all good
  • edited May 2008
They should make it 1408(like the movie,1408)

    probably make it 1000

What about 500 Per Episode? This way, you can pay 2500 for the whole season.

Ooh, or 300 points like the movie 300. I like that better. Anyone know any movie called 1?

    Well, almost.

My base guess would be 1000 points, since that's what a lot of "bigger" Wiiware games are going for. But I could easily see it being 800 too, closer to the prices of the Sam & Max episodes.

It should be Pi points, that way you'd always have an irrational number of points left.

What? And ALWAYS end up with only points that wouldn't make sense to even KEEP?!

each S&M episode is about 9 bucks, but if sbcg4ap cost 1000 wii points ($10) it would be $50 a season which is the cost of a regular wii game, plus those with a wii this fall S&M are coming to the wii! but that too is $50 so I wouldn't be too suprized (suprised?) if it were 1000 points. yep I'm 95% sure it's 1000. although S&M episodes are 8.95 maybe each one of these episodes is 895 points? though you'd have 1105 points left from a full card and that would be just nonsense!

I am pretty sure we haven't said how much S & M Wii will cost. You probably shouldn't just make up numbers.

$3.1415---.95 for the game? You'd have to pay .0000000000000...00000000000000...0000000000000...0000000000................000001 dollar everyday to get it!

anyway, i'm hoping for something more along the lines of 800. because i'm a cheapskate.

Let's do a bit of math kicking here.

Amazon.com has the price for the Wii version of Season 1 at $30, take a cent plus tax.

Season 1 in Telltale's store is $30, that includes a free episode.

    Season 2 in Telltale's store is $35.

Now, all of these prices include a box in the purchase price.

A download for 1,000 Wii Points would be $10 an episode would give us $50 for the season.

This is a $15-20 premium on Sam and Max for the convenience of using the Wii and with no(announced, anyway) box version to accompany that premium pricing.

    Now.

Since there is no bundle option AVAILABLE for the Wii Shop channel, Telltale faces a dilemma. The Wii Shop Channel pretty much works in increments of $5. That means a rise or drop of $5 for a single episode means an increase or decrease of $25 for the whole season.

I am personally for a Wii Points price of 500 points, which rounds out to a nice even $25. The $5-10 price drop accounting for the lack of a box at the end and other lost benefits like a drop in resolution and no carry-over items.

    no.

there are games that cost 600, 700, 800, and 900 points. and one that costs 1200, i believe.

    Okay, nevermind.

I've only bought two or three things from Wiiware, all priced 500 or 1,000.

    Alright.

    Then some new math kicking:

600 points is a rise of $5 to the 500 points calculation, putting Strong Bad at $30 for the season. That would be in line with the Sam and Max game prices.

    So, I'm thinking 500 or 600.

To me, 700-1,000+ per episode is out of the question.

Stop calling me out on my errors, guys.

    It's not nice.

    You got the point. =p

I have a feeling it will be more around the 1000-1500 point range. I am hoping for 1000, but less would be great. There will be fees (I assume) associated with putting it up as WiiWare, which will add to the cost... plus, it sounds like one episode packs in a bunch of content... I wouldn't be surprised if this game is longer than the Sam and Max games solely based on the descriptions of what you can do in the game.

1000-1500 sounds reasonable for what you will get, but again, I have a feeling it will be more like 1000.

yeah, to me lostwinds (1000 points) felt more like a 700-point game to me, so it certainly is possible that it could be 1000. i still think it'll be anywhere from 700-900 points, though.
  • edited July 2008
^^ agreed... there are many games on WiiWare (read: almost all of them) that feel overpriced... half of them are just rehashes of free online games.
  • edited July 2008
    10,000 Wii Points is $100.

    It's over 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I had to do it.
  • edited July 2008
I'm guessing 900, just because the S&M games are 8.95. yes, that was covered earlier in the thread.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were 1000 though.

Dude, I would buy the game if it were 3.14 points...that would be great.I could buy the whole season for less than 20 cents.

i hope it is pi points. because pi is a constant i would have a infinite number of points left over!
  • edited August 2008
    I hope it's 500 points.Knowing it's probably not, I'd still probably want, I don't know, Castlevania.
  • edited August 2008
I gotta say, I'll be a little irritated if it's more than 10 bucks (1000 Wii Points). With Wii Points I've only gotten things that were 500 or 1000, I really don't wanna deal with mixed up numbers. Now I can live with SB being 9 bucks cause that's just cheaper, but no 12 buck price please.
  • edited August 2008
    It should be 900.
  • edited August 2008
If it is 700, i can buy 3 episodes with the points I already have. I hope it is that way, just for my own selfish desires.... I really don't want to buy another 3000 points ($30), it isn't easy to get that kind of cash (even monthly in $10 increments).
  • edited August 2008

Actually, pi is an infinite decimal. You'd have to pay an infinite decimal of 1 point (1 cent for people in the real world) for the rest of your life to play the games.

Your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren will still be paying off this game for you.
  • edited August 2008
Sam & Max are about $9 per episode, but in this case there wont be any bundle discount option (which in Sam & Max' case reduces the price to about $7), so I say Strong Bad should be more along the 800 points per episode.
  • edited August 2008
I olny have 900 points on my wii!
